My husband has been on the above capsule for a week. When he eats acid fruit he vomits 3 to 4 hours later. feels okay after that. Is it the tablet and should he be avoiding tomatoes and oranges? ## According to a number of sources, there are "no known" interactions with omeprazole and food or beverages. However, nicotine, caffeine and alcohol can stimulate stomach acid or delay ulcer healing. Omeprazole belongs to a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitors (PPI). The proton pump is the site within the stomach cell where hydrochloric acid is actually made and pumped out into the stomach. The PPIs block the formation of acid in the stomach from 80% to over 90% if enough of the drug is taken. Because of this, I'm thinking that acid fruit would have some sort of interaction,...

I was diagnosed with EE (esophogial erosion) the doctor put me on dexilant (60 mg) and i am still experiencing a problem with my hiatal hernia. is this normal. Can i also take omeprazole (20mg) once a day for this and excessive gas, not flatulance but a real pain in my upper chest. ## Hello, Nadiahope! How are you? Actually, they are both the same type of medication, as listed by the FDA, they are both PPIs, so you'd essentially be doubling up, which isn't advisable. Additionally, the discomfort you're experiencing could be due to a side effect of the Dexilant, it can cause that, along with nausea, dizziness and the flatulence that you're experiencing. Which goes to the next point, neither one of these medications will alleviated your gas, they may actually cause it. How...

What is the dosage for omeprazole 20mg bcos my doctor told me 1cap twice daily is he right or wrongd ## It actually depends on the condition being treated and the severity. For relatively mild issues, one 20mg dosage is usually taken each day. However, for someone with a severe acid issue, or who is already tolerant to it, the dosage can be raised to 40mgs a day, either in one dose, or as 2 separate doses.
