Need reference for a doctor that will prescribe Oxycodone or similiar for chronic back pain due to scoliosis fusion. New insurance, having trouble getting a Good new doctor. ## Hello, Davemb! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. Unfortunately, there is no listing of doctors according to who will or will not prescribe any given medication that I can refer to for you. Technically, any doctor with a license to practice could prescribe it, but due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require some type of narcotic on a long-term ongoing basis, then you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Have you tried getting in with a PCP, yet? Doing that and then having them refer you to pain management will likely be the easiest way to find the help ... ...

Technically, any doctor can prescribe it, but due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require it on a long-term ongoing basis for the management of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. Do you currently have a PCP that you see regularly? If so, then the easiest thing to do would be to ask them to refer you to someone. Another thing to keep in mind is to not ask them to prescribe any specific medication, when you call a new doctor to set up an appointment, because most doctors will consider that to be drug seeking behavior. ## I live near Coeur d'Alene ID and the only pain management treatment available here is a gestapo clinic that gives you painful cortisone injections-they won't increase your dosages, and then if you are taking more than your prescribed dose-they cut you off! Most of my pain is in my lower back but I also have undefined pain, like if I sit or stand for extended periods of time in the space between my shoulder blades and spine towards the top of my back. Recently my aunt has been giving me oxy 30mg. They completely take all my pain away quick and 2 a day lasts through the day and night. I have been going to er visits up till now bulged disc both knees have torn cartilage and right leg is shorter than other also bad right hip with bursitis. ## I'm sorry, but with the new regulations that were put in place this year, that's really not going to happen. If you need immediate pain relief, returning to the ER is most likely your only option. Since people requiring controlled substances for ongoing treatment of pain are now being forced to see pain management specialists, such doctors have become swamped with new patients. Thus, if you do happen to find one that is still accepting new patients, you'll likely hav... ...

I'm only 30 yet have been fighting with doctors to get something that relieves my daily pain for 8 years. I am not a candidate for surgery YET. I have DDD, protruding discs, herniated discs, and a "turned" pelvis, all from 2 car accidents. No legalities to worry about I just want a doctor that will actually do what they say, like run an MRI, some physical therapy/adjusting, and some prescriptions for pain. I'm not asking for anything too heavy, something like percocet or roxicodone and ultram for breakthrough. ## Well, Percocet and Roxicodone contain Oxycodone, so those are pretty major narcotics. In cases such as yours, the best advice I can give anyone is to not try asking for any specific medications, when you see a new doctor. It is best to let your medical records a... ...

I am looking for doctor able to prescribe my oxycodone in col ohio. I am a recent amputee with a dead hip bone and just had major surgery on my left leg wich has left some bone exposed. However, as I'm getting ready to be discharged my surgeon says find someone to prescribe pain mess and says a pcp can do this for now. I'm terrified please help. ## Hello, Leas! How are you? A PCP can technically prescribe such pain medications, but due to the new directives set forth by the DEA last year, most of them will not, especially for new patients. In most cases, even for existing patients, they will only prescribe for a short period of time. Do you have a PCP that you've been seeing regularly? Then ask your doc to switch you to oxycodone only, if necessary you can add your own Tylenol and have "home made Percocet". HOWEVER, if you have a pain doc be careful about questioning him or her I've know pain patients that question their doc and then the doc refused to see them anymore.
