I like this, taking tablets on an empty stomach upsets me., stomach, that is. ## This antacid is usually best taken just before a meal, or while eating, so it has a change to prevent issues, such as heartburn, GERD, and gastritis, that could be caused by the food and beverages you are enjoying. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, diarrhea, and gas. There are some medications it should not be taken with, though. Are any of you on any other medications?

Thank you, Florencia ## Hi Florencia, Based on my research, The usual dose for patients with irritable bowel syndrome and similar conditions or symptoms ie: diarrhea and/or constipation, is 1 capsule twice daily, 10 - 15 minutes before breakfast and lunch. Some severe cases that are difficult to control or may require a dose increment of 1 capsule three times a day. I also read that it is helpful to those dealing with Irritable bowel syndrome to reduce 20% of the daily fat intake, doing so should help with intestinal gas. Side effects are rare, but may include: abdominal pain, pruritus, rash, regurgitation and dysphagia.
