Nuvigil Armodafinil

Armodafinil (trade name Nuvigil) is the enantiopure compound of the eugeroic modafinil (Provigil).[1] It consists of only the (R)-(−)-enantiomer of the racemic modafinil. Armodafinil is produced by the pharmaceutical company Cephalon Inc.[2] and was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in June 2007.[3][4] In 2016, the FDA granted Mylan rights for the first generic version of Cephalon's Nuvigil to be mark...

I have been taking Nuvigil pretty consistently for about a 2 month period now for OSA, and have noticed what look like bug bites or hives popping up here and there on my body. I have anxiety disorder as well, and have had allergies since I moved to this area. I have had hives in the past due to both of these conditions, so I am not sure if it is just related to allergies or anxiety. Naturally, after reading the potential side effects for Nuvigil, I have some concern. It is not SJS (From the pictures I have seen), but I am not sure if the Nuvigil is contributing to the hives that have been popping up randomly. Has anyone else experienced this? Any help is greatly appreciated. ## Hello, Sandman! How are you? If they are similar to the ones you've gotten before, then it this is most li...

No withdrawal side effects. If you have been awake and had no sleep for a long time you may feel extremely tired. The worst effects I had would be severe muscle pain, espesciall in the neck and chest. They were bad enough to make me stop taking it. These were not withdrawal effects but were an adverse reaction to the drug itself. They continue for about a week after the onset of pain and stopping the Nuvigil. ## Hey Richard, sorry to hear about the severe muscle pain you experience while taking Nuvigil. Hopefully this can at least help other patients know what to watch out for, or in this case, "feel" for. Also, thanks for clarifying that what you experienced were not withdrawal effects, but actually side effects... I know you had mentioned that these symptoms lasted for an enti...

Does anyone have any idea why Nuvigl is frequently in very short supply and so often on backorder at local pharmacies? Have heard the rumor that Nuvigil is being discontinued. Does anyone have any facts? Thank you for any information. ## Towards the end of the year, such shortages are usually due to mandatory manufacturing limits, additionally, there are limits to how much any pharmacy can order and keep in stock. Learn more Nuvigil details here. However, I don't know of anything official that states that this medication is being discontinued. What local pharmacies are you using? ## Thank you so much for the Nuvigil info. Considering what a "popular"medication it seems to be,I would think that the discontinued rumor is just that. Our pharmacy told me to check back w/them aro...

Looking for some real life experiences to hear about. I'm new to nuvigil as of today, and like to have the occasional cocktail. I've read warnings saying not to combine, so am I going to have to quit drinking? Anyone with experience I'd love to hear from you. ## Hi James, I'm not one to speak from personal experience, but according to umm.edu, there are no drug interactions listed between Nuvigil (armodafinil) and Alcohol. Based on these findings alone, I have no reason to believe that you'd experience complications upon using the two together in a responsible manner. Other drug interaction checkers I've come across do not list anything discrepancies either, so depending on where you read those warnings suggesting otherwise, it seems to me like the best thing to ...

I have been put on the generic nuvigil (armodaginil) 200 mg. I had started a new medicine about the same time and was having side affects of lipitor. I had swelling, sore joints, headaches, just felt awful. I went off lipitoror right away and about 3 weeks later I still feel awful. Has anybody that got put on the generic nuvigil have problems waking up or functioning at all. I'm very forgetful and just want to sleep all day. Doctors/pharmacy said Iit is exactly the same. I dont understand why since I got switched to generic it doesn't seem to work. I'm going crazy thinking this is all in my head. ## Which generic brand did the pharmacy give you? I'll bet anything your reaction is due to that. Even if the dose of medication is the same fillers/etc can influence how your b...

I just was prescribed 150 MG to help with my daily sleepiness resulting from my battle with sleep apnea. I have been on the med about 6 days and see no reaction good or bad. I have read so much about how much different the side effects are on folks and the benefit / no benefit from a variety of patients using it. Is this drug just a roll of the dice and when should I feel any effect from the med? I read it deters hunger but I have seen no decrease in my appetite thus far. I need to lose weight as a side benefit. Any hope for that? Am I to expect in effect on libido? ## Hello, Alex! How are you? Nuvugil is a very expensive form of Provigil, which is a medicatiom used for those with narcolepsy, those who work rotating shifts and those who need help staying alert during the day. Nuvigil has to be approved by your medical insurance company and the original price is about $386.82 for 30 pills. With insurance, the prescription is $89. Nuvigil is expensive but it does keep me awake. ## Nuvigil contains the active ingredient Armondafanil, it is a stimulant medication used to treat narcolepsy. It has NOT, yet, been approved for the other uses you mentioned. The reason it is so expensive is because it is very new to the market. It was only approved by the FDA in 2007, so there are no generics available at this time. The price with medical insurance or without it, will vary according to ...

He also takes Vivactil and Ritalin. He feels jittery, tired and nausated. Please help. ## Speaking from personal experience... Ritalin and Provigil didn't mix for me. Granted that was Provigil. I've recently started Nuvigil, and can not tell if I am having holiday anxiety or a reaction to my Nuvigil. My feeling is slight pressurized headache, tightness in chest, mild vision blur, very pressurized feeling in chest and sides of throat and anxiety. Checked my BP and is 180/80. Norm for me is around 130/85 w/bistolic. He may want to monitor his BP if he's feeling tired and nauseous ## ...

Does anyone else suffer from Nuvigil addiction? I suffer from depression and my Dr put me on this in 2012. I was fine and didn't abuse it for several years, but for the past 2 years I have. It is a schedule IV drug and most people have never heard of addiction to it. It gives me dopamine. ## Hello MB20628, According to the FDA it is known that Nuvigil is addictive and is fairly commonly seen in people who use the drug for longer than 3 months. What kind of information are you looking to get on the withdrawal symptoms of this drug? Are there any in particular that you are experiencing strongly? ## I need to get help with this problem. I just don't have confindence in rehab facilities because I think it is just me. Everybody else seems to handle it fine.

Can a patient who's already been on the 37 mcg patch of Fentanyl also take a 150 mg or 75 mg Nuvigil and still be ok? ## Has they both been prescribed for the patient in question? The FDA does warn that both of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and taking them both could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and drowsiness.

what is the difference between the 2 medicines besides the doaseage and the Nuvigil is cheaper ## Provigil contains the active ingredient Modafanil and Nuvigil contains the active ingredient Armodafanil. They are in the same drug class and treat the same things. The only difference is the needed dosage of each and the fact that sometimes one medication works better than another for different people. For instance, I have a severe problem using Metoprolol to treat my high blood pressure, I get a ton of bad side effects from it, however, I have no problems at all using Carvedilol, even though they are in the same medication class and do the same thing. It's just how it works. Which one has your doctor recommended?

nuvigil and methadone do not mix. nuvigil blocks the methadone. In current PDR. ## I believe you are correct. I take Nuvigil for narcolepsy and have started over past few weeks with low dose 20mg methadone for pain. When recently I got my new Nuvigil prescription, the past few days, I have felt dizzy, nauseas after two to four hours of taking it. It may be do to extremely fast elimination of methadone and because of the low dosage I am taking(20mg of methadone) which isn't alot but used for pain, it seems to block almost all of the analgesic, and pain activating mechanisms of methadone. Why this isn't discussed more and should be? Underground world of pharmaceutical industries, greed, money making machines that could care less about understanding and COMMUNICATING with cephalon ...
