I suffer from an intestinal parasite (Endolimax nana), and I was prescribed metronidazole (Flagyl) at a daily dose of 1000 mg per day for a week. Every drug has its side effects, but I was particularly worried about the possibility of developing peripheral neuropathy since my father had suffered from that condition for many years. In spite of assurances from my physician, my feet went numb, with some additional numbness in my hands and wrists, not to mention the fact that the drug was ineffective against the parasite. I’m writing now in the hope that this will reach those of you have experienced similar side effects: I want to report that the neuropathy is in fact reversible and that you WILL eventually regain feeling in your extremities. ## Most side effects are transient, accord...

After taking Chantix only three days, I began developing numbness in my calf and foot and achiness in my hip. I immediately stopped taking Chantix, but eight months later, the pain is just starting to subside and the numbness is lessening, but still in my toes. If this is what happens after only three days of Chantix, I feel horrible for the people who took it for a longer period of time and are still in agony. I still smoke, but will try other cessation methods before ever using Chantix again. It is not worth the risk. ## Saw your post and I have PAD. That is a disease that affects you in your legs especially because you are a smoker. The symptoms are numbness, hip pain, trouble walking long distances without a rest, tingling, etc. Just check it out with your doctor. And finally about ...

On 50 mg Pritiq w/ few side effects, then PDoc added 100 Wellbutrin SR/day for 1 week, the 2x100/day after first week. Having serious vivid dreams, but especiall thingling and numbness in feet, lower legs, both forearms, and face. Anyone had similar? ## The problem could be caused by the combination of the two medications. Wellbutrin contains the active ingredient Buproprion and Pristiq contains Desvelafaxine and combining the two is known to increase the amount of the Buproprion metabolites in your body, so the dosage may be too high for you. Have you contacted your doctor about this problem, yet?

I've been taking Invokana 300 for about 19 months. Lately I've noticed slight numbness in my toes and ankles. I've also recently heard that Invokana is associated with increased toe, foot, and leg amputation. I've read that you should report new pain or tenderness in those areas but wondering if the numbness is also a concern. Has anyone reading this experienced this? ## Hello, Polly! How are you? You can really never go wrong reporting any new issues to your doctor, just to be safe. Honestly, most of them have heard it all and are ready to deal with whatever is thrown their way. If a doctor gets upset over it, then it is time to move on to a new doctor. Going by NIH reports, as well as my experience with my ex-husband being diabetic, this symptom could be related to the...

Very frequently I feel severe numbness in my left arm - a sensational feeling of pricking in the arm. It is now almost three months that I have been feeling this problem. The numbness arises any time without any specific cause, effort or posture. I am 68 yrs of age and have never had any apparent cardiac problem. ## I'm sorry, we aren't medical professionals and no one could possibly diagnose your issue over the internet. Are you on any types of medications? Have you talked to a doctor about this? There are various medical conditions that can cause this and I'm afraid only a doctor could really get to the root of the problem.

My left fingers except the last one gets number sometimes. I visited the dr who did a sugar test on me and it was normal. i was given drugs that did not help me instead the drugs were devastating that even as i managed to finish them i had no permanent relief. I read sometime that Atenolo could cause such reaction. Sometimes after the numbness feeling, it will be itching and i will start scratching my fingers up to the palm. I am tempted to think that this may be Reumatisim... I am reluctant to visit the dr again. But would like to know if anybody has the same experience and what remedies to use. I am an active person, does my gym and swimming exercises regularly still taking my drugs Norvasc 10mg + Tenoretic or Atenol 50mg. Please I need your suggestions. ## This could possibly be a se...

Hi everyone, so both my big toe nails hurt all the time, like there is a lot of pressure under my nails, and my big toenails grow up not out like normal. they look normal, other than them growing upwards a little, no colors, not swollen, no puss or any thing. also feel numb when I touch the tips of my toe and along the outside of my toe. Does any one know what might be going on? ## I have the same exact thing going on with my 2nd toe. It's annoying and nothing gets rid of it. Why is it so hard to get rid of the weird fungus stuff.. ## Hello gendolyn, You might want to have that looked at. Numb toes can be the result of a few things ranging from a pinched nerve to early signs of diabetes. I suspect that because of the combination of the toenail growing weird in addition to the toe be...

is it a normal side effect to feel numbness in the face after taking xarelto? this is my 3rd day on the medication (15mg twice a day) after a lower calf DVT. ## Hi numb, Sorry to hear about the side effects you're experiencing. From what I could find, numbness is actually listed as one of the more common side effects of Xarelto on the webpage for the US National Library of Medicine at: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0045374/#DDIC603481.side_effects_section They recommend contacting your doctor immediately if you experience such symptoms while taking Xarelto. So that's probably one of the first things I would do if I were in your position. Sometimes side effects like this do go away on their own over time, but if the symptoms have been too bothersome or persistent, it seems to ...

I think I may have strained something. Have numbness and pain in hip joint. Have on hand Flexeril, Voltaren, Voltaren gel, Robaxin Prednisone and Lorcet. Have used heating pad and tens unit with gel. No relief. Trying not to have to go to doctor. Will any of these meds be effective alone or in combination? Never had the numbness before---skin hurts to touch. ## Seeing a doctor would be your best option, to be honest. Given the numbness, there is a risk of your having some nerve damage starting, according to NIH reports, and delaying proper treatment might only make it worse. Do you take any medications regularly? Why do you have a TENS unit?

My 32 year old Daughter is currently on Eloquis 5 mg twice a day and lately she has been expressing her concerns about the Eloquis. She has been experiencing considerable numbness in her legs and stomach and mildly in her face. It seems to be more in the fleshy areas of her body because when asked if she is experiencing that same numbness right under her breasts above where the swelling is on her stomach or on her feet which below the swelling she is experiencing on her both of her legs. Or even the fact that her cheeks on her face are numb but the forehead is not which also sort of points to the fact that perhaps the fleshy areas of the body are more affected by the swelling and/or the medicine. >>>I am writing this because she has been on the Eloquis for month and is seein...

I took a medrol dose pack last week and finished it Wednesday December 28th. On day 5 of the pack I began to experience numbness in hands and fingers and pain in my arms and elbows. I have an intense backache and my trunk is tender to the touch. I'm also retaining water in my abdomen. My prescribing doctor and pharmacist never heard of these side effects even though they are listed on the package insert. I'm concerned if this is permanent and don't know who to ask since the health care professionals I spoke to never heard of these side effects. I am extremely worried. ## Yes, these can be typical side effects of this medication, according to FDA reports. However, they should go away, now that you've finished your course of treatment, but it make take a couple of weeks. H...

Over the past 6 months I have developed acute pain and numbness/tingling, as well as loss of strength, in both hands. I've been to 3 doctors and a specialist and they can't work out what's happening. Have tried strong painkillers like Tramadol but no relief. I'm now taking medicinal cannabis 100 (.5 mil per day), and although it has helped slightly, the pain is still chronic. Has anyone else out there had similar problems and, if so, what treatment have you had? ## Have your doctors done any imaging studies to check your spine, and joints?
