Are NSAID's and methadone different or the same thing? I don't understand the difference? Plz advise. ## Methadone is an opiate that is used to treat severe pain or drug addiction, with NSAIDs are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories that are used to treat pain, fever, swelling, according to the NIH. Methadone carries the risk of being habit forming, which NSAIDs don't, as warned b the FDA. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does Methocarbamol contain any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs? If so, how does it work? ## No, it is a muscle relaxant that works by helping to relax smooth muscles, to relieve the pain caused by muscle sprains, strains, and spasms. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. Has it been prescribed for you? Are you on any other medications? ## I have taken a robaxin 750 mg and it hasn't kicked in yet and its been almost a hour is there something I can take with it ## 'm on high blood pressure medicine and antidepressant called Wellbutrin ## Can I take Methocarbamol 500mg with Prednisone 5mg. My mother is currently on 20mg of Omesar daily. She is suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and was successfully self managed on 300mgs of aspirin daily. Following a carotid enterectomy she was advised to stop taking aspirin and take paracetamol instead. This was not effective in controlling her painful symptoms and she started to take 400mgs of Ibuprofen daily, which she found effective. However her cardiologist told her she couldn't take this medication in conjunction with her present medication. I would like to know is there a specific reason it is contraindicated?

My doctor moved and after being prescribed 4 hydrocodone 10/325mg a day for 7 years. I'm having the worst time finding a doctor to prescribe it to me again. NSAIDS don't do anything to help. Does anyone know of realistically effective alternatives? Or possibly anyone in the Las Vegas, NV area know a doctor who won't judge me for being in pain and might actually help me? I appreciate any feedback. ## Hello, Mandy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Hydrocodone combinations were changed to schedule 2 drugs last fall, so most doctors will no longer prescribe them. Due to the new directives from the DEA, if you require such a medication for the long-term ongoing treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. The ...

Chymoral AP has Trypsin Chymotrypsin which should be taken before meals and Aceclofenac and Paracetamol which should be taken after meals. . So please tell me if this drug should be taken before or after meals? ## Actually, unless your doctor says otherwise, they should all be taken after meals, to help avoid the stomach irritation and nausea that they can cause as side effects, according to the NIH. Other typical side effects may include dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello, doc prescribed me lyrica 150 mg for burning, tingling and aching on my foot which started after a sprain ankle that happened 4,5 months ago. I didn't want to use it because of the serious side effects described, but I've been using it for a week now. To reduce side effect risk, I stopped taking my NSAID drug (acemetasin, voltaren (diklofenak sodium), Cycladol (Piroxicam), etodolac etc. My pain and burning sensation didn't lessen much and my foot swells sometimes. My question is if I can take NSAID drugs safely with Lyrica and which one is best to use in my condition? It's been almost 5 months and I've been taking NSAIDs most of this time. I used to take cipralex (essitalopram) as antidepressant but stopped taking it with Lyrica, since both effect the nervous syst

I have been taking Tramadol for at least 9 years now for chronic post-surgical right knee pain, back pain, and Arthritis. They just took Tramadol off of the $4 list at wal-mart and Target. I do not like narcotics because they make me feel sick, and have horrible withdrawal symptoms and side effects. I am already physically dependent on the Tramadol so I don't want to make it any worse by adding a Narc to it. I am allergic to NSAIDS to the point that if I take them it will kill me, Tramadol is becoming to expensive, and Tylenol doesn't even come close to alleviating my pain, I am in so much pain all of the time...what pain meds can I take that isn't expensive, works well on severe bone and joint pain and not an NSAID??? ## Actually, Tramadol is classified as an opiate/narcotic...

I have been on Tramadol for at least 9 years now, I am SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO NSAIDS, and do not like most Narcotic pain meds as they make me feel "yucky". They just took Tramadol off of the $4 list at wal-mart, and Tramadol is expensive, being allergic to NSAIDS is causing major problems in getting pain relief for me, what else can I take for pain that is not an NSAID, and inexpensive???? ## Hi Mindy, In the link below you can view a chart of prescription and non prescription pain medications ranked from weak to strong. You can use this chart to determine what other options you have as far as switching over to a stronger or less expensive medication (odds are though, if you want something higher up on this list, it will likely be more expensive): You may also want to talk to you...

Both are NSAIDS but are there any advantages to taking one over the other with regard to long term use? i.e. kidney damage or other long term effects. ## Not really, both the Naproxen in the Aleve and the Ibuprofen in the Advil carry the same types of possible risks and benefits. What you really have to decide on is which one works best for you and if your doctor says it is safe for you to use such a medication. However, you do generally need to take less of the Naproxen than you do of the Ibuprofen to get the same effects. Are there any other questions?

I cannot take NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti inflammatory) One post says it's like oxy and another states it's a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drug. Which is correct? ## Hello, Vic! How are you? According to the manufacturer, Janssen-Cilag, it contains Paracetamol, so it is neither a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, nor is it any type of opiate. The side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Just needed to make sure it wasn't an NSAID. Thank you Verwon for your quick response.

I can not take any NSAIDs due to being a gastric bypass patient and there is too much of a risk of a bleed with these drugs.. I am already on hydrocodone so I can not take any other narcotic analgesics. Is there any other non narcotic chronic pain reliever out there to supplement the hydrocodone. Can't take tramadol now because NYS classified this as a narcotic. My doctor is going crazy trying to find something for me and has had no luck so far. ## Why can't you take another narcotic? They are very commonly combined to give someone better pain relief. People with severe pain are often given a long acting narcotic along with a regular or instant release one for breakthrough pain. But if your doctor doesn't want to combine them, you could switch to a different one that's s...

I have had trouble with all of the NSAIDS for years which I previously had taken for my arthritis. I started Duexis in September and have had good relief with only one a day. Recently the heartburn has returned. I am not sure if I should just stop, reduce it to every other day or third day, increase tums. Anyone with similar issues? ## Hello, June! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. You may need a higher dose of the Famotidine that this contains, or you may need to add another medication, such as a PPI like Prilosec. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Duexis as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and increased risk of bleeding. Have you tried anything else to reduce the heartburn? Wife has RA and has tried many different NSAIDs to relieve pain and reduce swelling. We don't want to take the standard RA Meds as the side effects are bad as well. Due to intense pain a few nights ago, I let her use some of my hydrocodone with acetaminophen and woke up feeling better than she had in months. What part of the drug is responsible for reducing the inflammation and then the pain to allow her to use her hands and walk. Are there other options we should look at for her pain/inflammation? Many of the NSAIDs haven't worked effectively for her. ## Hello, Todd! How are you and your wife? I have been taking NSAIDS for the past 21 years. The last 10 years it has been Meloxicam 15mg/day. Over the past 7 years I have steadily become allergic to many things. I am now severly allergic to corn, soy, wheat, nuts and mold. My Asthma is now severe. The Meloxicam was no longer able to control the pain from my arthritis so a year ago out of desperation I went gluten free and found that my Arthritis was so much better but I was still going into anaphylactic shock over things I was eating that I had never had a reaction to when I was younger. I am now 58 years old. Over the past year I have gone into anaphylatic shock 16 times and I am now gluten free, corn free, soy free and nut free. In the past month I was still having some allergic reactions and heard that Meloxicam and other dru...

I have ulcer disease and can't take any nsaids, especially aspirin. I've been taking generic Percocet 5/325 for about a year now for broken ribs and other things. I just got a refill and they changed the manufacturer to Camber T192 white round tablet.. when I opened the bottle the first thing I noticed was the smell of aspirin and the chalk all around the bottle. In the past they have always filled it with Actavis white round coated pill #A349. These had no smell at all. I called the pharmacy to ask about this as their printout also said the Camber pill is blue and it is white. The girl assured me I had the correct pill, it was obviously generic and the manufacturer had been changed. She said it was not aspirin. I do know what it smells like. I am just concerned because if I tak...

I have just learned that Limbrel exists. I had been on NSAIDS for years, first a combo of Ibuprofen & Salsalate, then moved from that to Celebrex. Three years ago my kidneys started to fail. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney failure. I was pulled off ALL NSAIDS FOREVER. Needless to say, I was devastated. Yes, I was upset about the kidney failure, but I was MORE upset about the fact I could not take anything for relief of my severe osteoarthritis. My rheumatologist did put me on Plaquenil,, which helps some, but still doesn't address the inflammation. I am on pain meds too, for other reasons, but again, they don't even touch the pain from inflammation. I learned earlier this week, from a Dr. I was sent to for another issue, of the existence of Limbrel. My rheumatologist has...
