can I take 2 Novo-Betahistine at the time? ## What dosage are you taking? Betahistine, which is usually used to treat vertigo, has a maximum recommended daily dose of 48mgs, given in divided doses, either 2 or 3 times a day. Taking a higher dosage can also increase the likelihood of side effects, such as headache, nausea and weight loss, thus it's really not advisable to increase the dosage, without your doctor's approval. Have you consulted them, yet?

My husband is spending most of his days in bed suffering from Vertigo. Someone with the same symptoms has been prescribed Novo Betahistine. He recommends my husband to take it because he says it has helped his greatly. My husband is taking METOCLOPRAMIDE it is helping somewhat but not near enough. How do they compare? ## Betahistine is used for Vertigo, most commonly that associated with Menieres Disease. Metoclopramide is an anti-emetic, so it really only treats nausea and vomiting. It will not help with associated dizziness. Has he spoken to his doctor about exploring other treatment options? ## Please try the Novo-betahistine. It was prescribed for me because I suffer from Menieres Syndrome where dizziness and vertigo last for days and days. It is safe and really helps. ## I have bee...

I just noticed that my pharmacist has switched me from teva-betahistine to novo-betahistine. I only noticed this because I'm having one of the worst menier's attracts I've ever had. I am wondering, what is the difference between these drugs and why would he have done this? Any feed back would be appreciated. Thank you ## They are the same medication, they've just been manufactured by different companies. These are Canadian medications and in Canada, they usually list the manufacture first, then it's followed by a hyphenation and the name of the actual drug. So, the first part of these, Novo and Teva, are both pharmaceutical manufacturers, but the drug is still Betahistine. Learn more Betahistine details here. I'm on NovoBetahistine for my "Vertigo".I had to stop taking this medication while my doctor had the section 8 paper approved,it has been almost 3 months since I had this medicine. Now I am getting severe headaches, and I was wondering if me stopping this med without weaning myself off it would cause these as a side effect ## Based on my research, headaches can be are a rare but serious side effect of Betahistine. The prescribing information states that you should contact your doctor if you experience these side effects and they are either severe or bothersome. It sounds to me like there could be some sort of withdrawal-like symptoms going on, but at the same time I'm not finding any specific details verifying whether or not Betahistine actually causes withdrawal symptoms....

I am having problems with my balance. When I had this problem 3 - 4 years ago my doctor prescribe a med called Novo-betahistine 16 mg. I have been very tired for a few weeks and I have problems walking straight. I have a few of these meds left can I take one and see if it will help me? ## Hello, Lynn! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the vertigo problem that you're having. If it is several years old, then the medication is most likely no longer effective. Additionally, vertigo can be caused by an infection of the inner ear, so you need to have it checked out and get a prescription for the appropriate medication. You may need an antibiotic. Is there anything else I can help with?
