HOW LONG TILL NORVASK WILL EXPIRE ## Hi Buffy, The shelf life of any drug, including Norvasc (Amlodipine) is largely dependent upon how it was stored and what average temperatures it was stored at, etc. Oral suspensions can be prepared by a pharmacy and when refrigerated, have a shelf life of up to 90 days; whereas certain tablets can last years before showing signs of degradation. How long have you had it for?

My doctor is transferring me off of Norvasc (which has worked great to keep my blood pressure under control) to Plendil because of a change in medications covered by my HMO. Has anyone else changed to Plendil and would you share with me if it worked as well as your former medication? ## Same thing happened to me, except in reverse. I had been tanking Plendil for years with great success. The Military Pharmacy switch to Norvasc. When I asked my Doctor, he said they were interchangable. ## You can safely switch from one to the other, as long as your doctor approves, and the dosage has been taken under careful consideration. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. I've had to change medications mult...

I am concerned about taking both prescriptions, as I am tired all the time. I tell my Dr., but he says if it keeps the pressure down keep taking them. Just wondered if I am the only one out there feeling this way. ## no i feel the same way very tired all the time can not even clean house ## That is a nornal side effect for these, it should, however, wear off after a few weeks as your body adjusts to the med and the change in your blood pressure. If it doesn't, then please speak to your doctor again and make sure to stress how severe it is. ## i also take both medicines norvasac and linsopril. I just started and yes, it makes me tired. ## I take Lisinopril/HCTZ, Lipitor, and Norvasc (1 year). I've been running for years, but can barley run 5 minutes without back and leg pain. I...

I have taken Novasc without significant side effects however amlodipine causes shortness of breath what is the difference ## Hello, Cherrylyn! How are you? It could be due to one of the inactive ingredients in the generic, they don't have to be the same as those used in the name brand. To avoid the problem, you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe it as brand medically necessary, so you no longer receive the generic fem your pharmacy. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No thank you, I've already done that.

the pharmacy put the label on in such a way that you cannot read the expiration date on the bottle without tearing it; the only thing that can be seen is the bar code with the numbers 8 0069-1540-68 8, a blue outlined box with 5283 in it, a partial 2-5 above a black box with 05-6819-32 underneath the black box, and a 9802 under a smaller bar code on the opposite side ## For tablets in a pharmacy dispensed bottle, the expiration date is one year from the date you received them from the pharmacy. :-) They last longer in the original factory sealed containers, but once that has been opened and they've been exposed to the elements that can cause degradation, the one year expiration applies. After that time, they begin to lose potency. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am concerned about my mother because she is experiencing ankle edema for 3 months now while taking norvasc. and one time my mother mentioned to me she experienced epistaxis (nosebleed) while walking in the mall. she said she took norvasc that morning before going to the mall and when the nurse checked her bp it was high:160/100.after taking a rest her bp normalized. when she asked her physician then she only prescribed diuretic to subside the edema. should we change her medicine and should we be alarmed by such incidence? ## The edema is a normal side effect, however, the elevated blood pressure and nose bleed are not! I suggest speaking to her doctor.

what are the markings for generic norvask made by glenmark mfg ## I am having trouble finding this information, usually medications are looked up the opposite way, someone provides the imprint and we can look them up from that. Glenmark does use a large capital G on most of their products, though, since it is their logo. Even on their site I can't find a listing of the products with their imprints. Can you post back with the imprints on the tablet(s) in question? Then I can easily look it up for you to double check what it is. ## my periods get delay about one a week.iam un married and having my periods on time so i will ask u that should i can use geogynon my age is 21

IS IT SAFE TO TAKE NORVASC AFTER EXPIRATION DATE ## Norvasc contains the active ingredient Amlodipine and while it doesn't get dangerous once it's past the expiration date, it can start to lose effectiveness. SInce it expired over a year ago, it isn't very likely that it will work as well as it did when it was new. Learn more Norvasc details here. Thus, it would really be best to get a new prescription. Are there any other questions or comments? ## What is the drug like lisinopril but does not have the coughing side effect?

Hi! Is it ok to split the dose of amlodipine; 5mg in the morning and 5mg in the evening? What could be the possible effect of doing this? ## Yes, that can be done, unless you've been given some specific reason why you shouldn't do so. Most doctors prescribe them to be taken in one dose, to help ensure that patients are more compliant on taking them. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?

I started taking 10 mg of Norvasc 4 days ago and my feet & ankles were swollen to capacity. They almost hurt and they felt very hot. It was given to me for high blood pressure. ## This is one of the bad side effects of the drug. I've been taking Norvasc for almost 6 years now. It had the same effect on me and I can only take 5 mg. a day without the swelling. I have also developed a rash on my lower legs as well and was told by a dermatologist that it could be from the medicine. I take 3 drugs to try and control my BP but I have yet to find anything that controls things. I've had hypertension for 20 years now and I fear that any day I will have a stroke or heart attack or kidney problems. Hope you will talk to your doctor about your ankles swelling. i accidentally took amlodipine besylate 10mg(usually am) along with losartan potassium 50mg(usually pm). Will this cause a problem for me? ## Did you contact your doctor? Did you experience any problems? There aren't any dangerous interactions that I can find listed, these medications are often prescribed together to help control high blood pressure and/or treat certain cardiac conditions. However, taking them at the same time could result in some hypotension, which may make you dizzy and drowsy. If it's very severe, you may need to seek medical attention.

I take Norvasc, Amlodipine is the generic. Generics do not always have anything but the main drug ingredient due to patents on the original drug? I have worked with my current Doctor to take it twice a day 12 hours apart. I always had a higher BP reading in AM so I take 5 mg twice a day and if it gets to high I take 7.59 mg and monitor closely. Its working. ## Sorry, I ment to say I take 7.50mgs at 5PM if it is running high. This helps AM high BP for me and then I take 5mgs in AM to get through the day. ## Generics still contain fillers, in most cases, along with the active ingredient, the patent on a name brand doesn't prevent them from using them. I was told that Norvasc can cause extra growth of gum tissue, is that so? ## I noticed swelling in my gum. The doctor reduced the dosage from 5mg-2.50mg and my gum was ok afterwards ## Yes, Norvasc has been reported to cause overgrowth of gum tissue (gingival hyperplasia) as a side effect, but it is very rare, occurring in less than 0.01% of those that take it. More common side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, hypotension, and bleeding gums. Ref: Medline Plus Amlodipine/Norvasc Is there anything else I can help with?
