What are the chemical make ups of Norco's vs the chemical make up of Tramadol. I know that Norco has Hydrocodone and Tylenol but do not know what the make up of Tramadol is ## Hello, Rotom! How are you? Tramadol is the active ingredient, that's the name of the drug itself. The FDA classifies both of these medications as being narcotic analgesics, which means they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes. With the new laws my health care provider is giving me a drug panel to make sure I am only taking the Norco as prescribed and nothing else. I was concerned because I had recently taken some Tramadol that I had from a while back and thought it m...

I have had my C-6 and 7 fused years ago and had pain releif from that. My symptom prior to rupture was dull pain in left scapula. After rupture, immense pain in scapula, left arm and numb index finger and thumb in left hand. After surgery, pain in back was gone and still had tingling and occasionally tip of left index finger went numb. Within this last year, my pain in scapula has returned and MRI shows moderate bulge in C-5 now. The pain was managed w 1 350mg Vicodin that I took when I got home from work at the end of day and naproxen while at work. I have been released by neurosurgeon to my primary. I have since been to neurologist for nerve conduction study to find that no nerve currently being pinched. They did however, discover that I have permanent nerve damage. I asked Dr. if I c...

I have been on norco 7.5 for two years now. I have severe arthritis in both knees. I take one right before I go to work. I stock shelves at night, at a supermarket. It helps me get through my shift. My doctor retired; and now I have a new doctor. He has me on 50 mg on Tramadol. It's not the same. I'm in more pain now, then I was before. The drug isn't working the same. I have not abused hydrocodone. What do I need to do to convince my new doctor, that Norco is working, and I'm not abusing the pain medication? Any new ideas? please help. ## Hi John, I always say honesty is the best approach and speak from the heart, but whether or not the doctor accepts your message as truth is something that's out of everyone else's control and therefore I don't think it'...

My doctor has me taking norco 10 325 every 4 hours for pain. I have tramadol as well. The tramadol feels like it does absolutely nothing. Because the tramadol doesn't give me a high feeling I thought it might be better to take. Will tramadol work as well as norco and if so, at what dose? I just want to get rid of the pain!! ## It really depends on you, how much does the high feeling affect you? Because it will eventually wear off, as your body gets used to the medication. It is just a side effect. However, it is one of the reasons that some people end up abusing certain medications, they like that high feeling, so they keep taking more and more of it to get it back, whenever it wears off. And no, the Tramadol will not work as well, it's not anywhere near as effective as the othe...

how strong is this one? ## The only tablet I can find with 533 on it, imprinted in black on a white pill is manufactured by Sun Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 200mgs of Tramadol, which is a mild opioid that is used to treat, or prevent pain. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and constipation. Does this match the description of your pill?

Has anyone else experienced weight loss while taking tramadol? I started taking 1-2 50mg tabs a day and 3 months in I'm now taking 4-6. I have dropped 15 pounds without even trying and I think it's from the meds. It's not a bad thing, just wondering if anyone else experienced this. Overall I really like tramadol, it has worked better for me than norcos and oxycodone both. To me it's a wonder-drug that has helped my pain, and my anxiety! ## Hello, Tiff! How are you doing? According to FDA reports, it has been known to cause appetite loss and weight loss, in some people that take it. It also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have recently been diag. w\Peripheral Neuropathy. Gabapentin makes me drunk and the efficacy wore off after 3to4 nights. 600mg to 1200mg for relief made me drunk & stupid;1800mg, forget it. But for me That's what it took to get maybe 6hr sleep.Maybe good for some;not me. Alternatives anyone? Thanks j ## I need some feedback. I live in Florida and I have a cage in my back for my L1 verabra, 4 screws in my foot, and just have 2 anchors placed in my shoulder for a 75% tear. I have tried to get some pain medication and I'm given tramadole. Waste of a script. It seems like people (Dr) feel like all people are drug seekers and not in chronic pain. How and who should I seek out for help and when I find this person, how do I get more than tramadole for pain???? Please advise. ## I...

If i have taken a half of a tramadol this morning at 8, is it safe to take a half of a norco 5/325 tomorrow? I also take bystolic, lamictal and gabapentin at night. I quit taking my celexa 2 nights ago. ## Hello, Etta! How are you? No, you shouldn't take Norco with your Gabapentin, due to the fact that it can increase the toxicity of this opiate, which could result in overdose. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. The typical side effects for Gabapentin may include nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain. Will tramadol help with norco withdrawals? I am prescribed 6 10/325 per day and ran short. Will they take away the symptoms? ## @Auntie, Due to the serious nature of withdrawals I would probably encourage you to discuss this with your doctor before trying things out on your own, just to be on the safe side. Although I will say that a number of reviews I came across do "imply" that tramadol did help them manage their withdrawal symptoms for a period of time, whereas others ended up experiencing rebound effects shortly after stopping the tramadol. In either case it seems to me like everyone tends to respond differently and you might actually be better off getting a recommendation for a specific medication from a pain management doctor who already knows what options work best for t...

I have been taking Hydrocodone 10-325 for 5 really shattered disc's, in which 5 of the top Neuro-surgens in PA stated that I would be a dead man, if they operate. I live in constant pain and the Hydrocodone helps a little. Now a VA Doctor prescribed Tramadol 50mg tabs. This Doctor is not my Primary care Doctor, just a fill-in. Correct me if I'M wrong, but this seems to me that this will in no way take away my pain, and furthermore, it seems like pain management. What are the answers, and What can I do???? ## If you get relief from Tramadol I would stay on that. If you have a condition with chronic pain all the time you would need more than Norco. You would need Oxycontin and since you would most likely be on it for life you don't want to take tylenol every day. Chances are y...

I have been taking tromadol for 4 years. I just had surgery and was given the strongest Norco. I want to stop taking tromadol all together and see how I do with over the counter for arthritis. Can I taper tramadol while taking the Norco or will side effects be worse when I'm out of Norco? ## Actually, Norco is stronger than Tramadol, so it would usually cause the worst withdrawals. The FDA lists it typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. How long will you be on the Norco? ## 7 days is all I am taking the Norco. I am off work 2 to 4 weeks so I thought it would be a good time to taper the tramadol.

Hi, I have been taking Norco 10/325 1 every 4-6 hours for pain and Tramadol 50 mg as needed for breakthrough pain for over 4 years for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and constant pain. However, I am starting to notice that I'm having much more frequent issues with breakthrough pain and it feels the Norco is loosing it's effectiveness overall. The pain has became so unbearable at times it really is affecting my quality of life tremendously. Please advise if there is another medication I can discuss with my doctor. Went from Vicodins 750's to Norco after knee replacement surgery. My Norco is the generic and my urine smells terrible. Anyone notice this side affect? ## It's a fairly common occurrence, due to the fact that you're adding a chemical to your body, plus the tablets can also contain some fillers and your body uses your urine and feces to process them out. Learn more Norco details here. However, you should keep an eye on it and if it gets really severe, or if you start to see signs of pus in your urine or experience pain or burning, then it may be a UTI and you should seek medical assistance. Is it safe to take Trazodone and Norco together at bedtime? I'm prescribed both and both say "1 at bedtime", but I'm very paranoid about mixing meds. I've had doctors mess up and overdose me. ## Taking them together may cause you to experience more side effects than usual, according to FDA reports, which may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and problems with concentrating. Thus, they can be taken together, if your doctor has prescribed them both, but they should be monitoring you regularly to watch for any problems. What doses have been prescribed? I we recently put on an antidepressant called Brintellix 10mg. However i have been on tramadol 50mg 2x a day for over 2 years and 300mg gabapentin 3x a day for 2 years. As well as norco 7.5 3x day. I've only been on brintellix a week and nervous that maybe that's too much serotonin medicine. Does that make sense? ## Yes, it does make sense and it is a possible risk. Serotonin syndrome can be very dangerous. Have you had any other symptoms aside from the tiredness? The main concern is the Tramadol with the Brintellilx, mixing them does carry a strong warning about the possible dangers and advises that alternative medications be used. ## I take similar meds as you. Been on Brintellix 10 mg a few weeks, also 100 mg Zoloft (down from 200mg). I stopped tapering off Zoloft because I f...

I was taking hydrocodone 7.750 now they have me on norco 10/325. I don't feel that the new medication is working as well, I get really upset stomach aches and also takes long to heal my pain which I have two bad disc the pain is so bad like if I'm about to give birth or if someone is tearing my back apart, can somebody help me please. ## All of these are opiate analgesics, but Tramadol is the weakest of what you've listed, Hydrocodone would be next and Oxycodone is the strongest of these. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Thus, if the Norco isn't working, you may want to speak to your doctor about trying Oxycodone or Percocet, which combin...

I would like to know how many 37.5 mg of tramadol is equal to one norco 10-325mg. ## They aren't comparable and one cannot be converted to the other. Tramadol is derived from an opiate and shares some similar properties, but doesn't actually work the same as one and isn't as effective. Learn more Tramadol details here. However, Norco contains an actual narcotic, Hydrocodone, coupled with Acetaminophen. Learn more Norco details here. Thus, it is actually much stronger and more effective at treating pain.
