My doctor switched me from morphine 40 mg ER to 10/325 norco and he said I could take one tonight around the time I would take my morphine. My question is, has the morphine wore off enough to take the norco without causing problems? ## Hello, David! How are you? It is always best to follow your doctor's advice and it is normal to just switch them out, as they instructed. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Im in a lot of pain. I have norco 5-325 that was giving to me from one doctor. Now another doctor wants me in morphine 15mg er. It took forever to get the morphine today so i took the norco to calm some pain down. Is it safe to take the morphine now that it has been 2 hours after taking the norco? ## It should be, as long as your doctor approves, but you may experience more intense side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Wait 8 to 20 hours. If you want the full effect it's 30 hours.

Without however because of the switch from an opioid to an opiate will there be any withdrawals? ## What are the relevant dosages? And opioid and an opiate are just two words for the same thing. For several years, I have been taking morphine ir 30mg and Hydrocodone 10/325 , both four times per day, as prescribed. . . what would withdrawl syptoms be ? Would it be dangerous if physician abruptly discontinues both at once, without "tapering off" or providing a substitute ? ## Hello, dbanana! How are you? Yes, a sudden withdrawal could be dangerous, such withdrawals have occasionally been known to cause seizures or severe dehydration. Other symptoms of withdrawal, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain and depression. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on 30 mg morphine sulphate and norco for 2 years. I have cut down to 1 30 mg morphine sulphate and 1 norco twice a day. I have been doing this for 3 days. How should I continue to completely wean off? ## Hello, Edwardo! How are you? There are lower doses of Morphine available that your doctor can prescribe to help you taper off and, as long as they approve, you can cut or break the Norco to gradually keep lowering your dose, since it isn't time released. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is a morphine patch damaging to your kidneys

My Dr switched me from Norco 10/325 to 1/2 15 mg ir Morphine Sulfate... So basically 7.5. Am I going to go thru Norco withdrawal? Is 7.5 higher than Norco 10? I so do not want to be in more pain. She started me at 7.5 to see how I tolerate it. Thanks. ## Norco contains Acetaminophen, and Hydrocodone, Morphine and Hydrocodone generally convert on a 1 to 1 basis, so 10mgs of one equals 10mgs of another. She has started you lower to see how you do on the Morphine, and you may find that it works better for you than the Norco. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. Ref: Morphine Information How has worked for you, so far? Are you on any other medications?

for the last 7 years I have been on Norco 10's got to the point I was taking 12 to 15 a day, it got to the point that they stopped working for me so my dr. put me on morphine er 15mg 3x a day with 30mg instant release 4x a day im new to morphine but have a very high tolerance to opiots, im just wondering if I made a good switch. I remember when the Norco made me feel great but I have yet to take two 30mg i.r. at once to see if that was a pleasant feeling, anyone have some helpful advice in this area? thanks ## Hello, Charles! How are you? The reason you aren't getting that same effect from the Morphine is because it's time released. The Norco was released all at once within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, but the Morphine is slowly released into your body over a period of abo...

My husband was on morphine 30 mg and the doctor put him on Norco 10/325. Which is the strongest pill for pain? ## Someone please correct me if I'm interpreting this wrong, but according to the following opioid dosing equivalency chart by umich.edu, two 10mg Norco (Hydrocodone) tablets are reportedly equal one 30mg Morphine tablet. Here's the link for reference: med.umich.edu/1info/FHP/practiceguides/pain/dosing.pdf However, due to possible side effects, individual tolerance, body chemistry, and other personal factors, my understanding is that not all opiates provide the same type of effects or relief even at what would be considered an equivalent dose. Hope this helps! ## I've been looking everywhere for accurate information in regards to converting 30mg of morphine into the...

My brother takes 30 mg morphine tablets by prescription every 12 hours. He complains that he is in pain all of the time anyway, even though they are better than the norco 10 mg that he was taking before. My sister-in-law takes norco 10 mg, 6 per day, and he has been begging her to give him 2 - a - day to take in between his morphine. He has, of course, not told his doctor. I want to know what combining these two will do to him? Thanks ## Well, first of all, it would be illegal for her to give them to him and for him to take them, since they are not prescribed for him. Both of them, if caught, could face heavy fines and jail time. Now, if he did take them, since he's opiate tolerant, he would most likely just experience more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness and drowsiness, as ...

Hello! My name is Mark and I've had heart surgery a week and a half ago. Now, I have norco 10/325 and have been taking them for years. However, my doctors at the hospital had me stop taking norco while inpatient, and have prescribed me morphine 30 er along with tramadol 100mg. A morphine at waking and when going to sleep, and three tramadol doses between. Can I swap the tramadol for my norco? I did so today and haven't felt well. Chills, cold sweats and light fever, but those are all common with heart surgery as it's a rough battle to fight off pneumonia while your lungs heal. So... Instead of taking a norco for my last dose I went back to tramadol to see if it'll work. Am I safe? Can I take morphine and norco? Help please! ## Legitimate people with chronic pain issues a...

taking morphine 15 mg S A. Have been on hydrocodone 10/325APAP, and oxycodone 10/325APAP. Don't seem to be getting any relief from the morphine. Is this just a transitition, or could there be an issue here ? ## Have you consulted your doctor? It could really be either that the dose of the Morphine isn't high enough to handle your pain, or some withdrawal/rebound effects from switching medications and there is also a possibility that it's a combination of both. ## I feel that I am not getting the relief I used to get from my medication. How much stronger is a morphine 60 than a Norco 10 and how many norcos would it take to equal 1 ## Hello, Smeagle! How are you? Morphine and Hydrocodone actually convert on a 1 to 1 ratio, so to equal 60mgs of Morphine, you'd need 60mgs of Hydrocodone. However, you can't take that many, due to the Acetaminophen in them. The limit for that is 3,000mgs daily, as set by the FDA. Exceeding that could result in fatal overdose toxicity. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you been switched from one to the other, or are you trying to switch yourself? ## Omg really for one thing they only make7.5 norcos not 750 that would be the acetaminophen and meth...

I took my last morphine at 7pm tonight. Start Norco 10/325 around 7am. ## Unless your doctor or pharmacist has instructed otherwise, you should be able to make a clean switch from one to the other. That is why they are usually quite a few options in any medication category. ## That what I,m saying it don't work for me. I got something off the net that works very well called painazol. My dr knows that I need three disk replacement but he keeps giving me Norco 10. I need something stronger and to them is like I can't give you anything stronger. What should do ## Unfortunately, due to the risk of abuse of such medications, many doctors will not prescribe anything stronger, anymore. It's too hard for many of them to adequately monitor the patient, if they have a busy practice. Have you considered pain management? That would likely be your best option to get the help you need.
