I can not take any NSAIDs due to being a gastric bypass patient and there is too much of a risk of a bleed with these drugs.. I am already on hydrocodone so I can not take any other narcotic analgesics. Is there any other non narcotic chronic pain reliever out there to supplement the hydrocodone. Can't take tramadol now because NYS classified this as a narcotic. My doctor is going crazy trying to find something for me and has had no luck so far. ## Why can't you take another narcotic? They are very commonly combined to give someone better pain relief. People with severe pain are often given a long acting narcotic along with a regular or instant release one for breakthrough pain. But if your doctor doesn't want to combine them, you could switch to a different one that's s...

I will be having wisdom teeth pulled. I would like to know what options are availiable for non narcotic pain relief. Preferably the strongest. I will be able to get a prescription, but I would like to avoid opiates or opioids. ## Wow, that's kind of difficult, because knocking out the opiates leaves only options for minimal pain relief. In many cases, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory would be prescribed, such as just a strong dose of Ibuprofen, but that can depend on how complicated the extractions are and how much you're bleeding afterwards. Learn more Ibuprofen details here. Are they being done in office, or as surgical extractions?

Does anyone know of a doctor in WI that is willing to prescribe narcotics for chronic pain. I am a legitimate pain patient. I had twelve vertebrae fused and suffer from severe chronic pain that significantly impacts even the most simple daily activities. I have taken a large dose of opiates for a substantial amount of time (over 7 years) and metabolize the medication very quickly. My doctor is retiring, and I need to find a doctor with an open mind who is willing to look beyond the ignorant stigma surrounding narcotics and approach my treatment in a non-offensive way rather than immediately assuming that anyone who takes narcotics does so illegitimately. NEED A WI DR. HELP! WILL GO ANYWHERE IN WI. ## In Wisconsin, you actually have an organization called the Alliance of State Pain Initi...

I had been on hydrocodone for approximately 13 years until I had to change doctors. My new doctor didn't believe in pain medication. I have been off hydrocodone for nearly 3 years and my pain is getting really bad again. One doctor prescribed Tramadol but now that is a narcotic and the doctor will not prescribe it anymore. I suffer from fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, scoliosis, myofacial pain and I can't believe none of my doctors will prescribe me something for pain. The pain is constant and I frequently have headaches and sleep problems every night. I seriously need something for the pain--ibuprofen doesn't due a damn thing. I live in Upstate NY and would love assistance with this. ## Go back to your former doctor. Doctors now are not willing to continue to prescrib meds th...

I've had severe chronic pain for years. Pain dr. Gave me 7.5/325 hydrocodone. I have hep c and chronic anemia. I don't want either tylenol or Ib.. what can I ask for that has none of those and is stronger? Would a fentanyl patch work? ## Hello, Andrea! How are you feeling? Fentanyl is the strongest narcotic available, so it may not be wise to jump straight to it, because that's not going to leave you anywhere to go in the future, once you build up a tolerance. I have diverticulitis is there anything I can take that does not contain acetaminophen for pain ## Hello, Missy! How are you? Yes, there are many available that don't contain Acetaminophen. Some examples in the opiate category include Oxycodone, Zohydro, Dilaudid, Morphine and Opana. The FDA classifies these mediations as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. All of these require a prescription from your doctor, plus there are also non-narcotic options you can discuss with them. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was given this drug in Mexico after a serious accident. What is the difference in this drug and ordinary Tramadol? My physician in the states has prescribed regular Tramadol for pain of arthritis and fibromyalgia. ## The medication from Mexico contained both Ketorolac and Tramadol. Ketorolac is a potent nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Tramadol is a relatively mild opiate narcotic that is just used to treat pain. Putting an NSAID, with the Narcotic tends to enhance the analgesic effects. As similar medication that is available in the U.S. would be Ultracet, which is also available as a generic, it couples the Tramadol with Acetaminophen.
