this is a white oblong pill and it has no imprints and it is not scored on either side ## It's a big whitish oblong pill on one side it has a line with no code or letters or numbers on either side ## If a tablet has no markings on it, then it is most likely an over the counter product. All manufactured prescription tablets in the U.S. are required to have unique imprints to enable them to be identified, but that is not the case with over the counter products. Thus, these can be difficult to narrow down. Does anyone have any idea what they may have been? ## NO imprints for even a OTC is not likely - may be homemade or South American Rx (but even there you are most have some sort of marking - sometimes just a "symbol" of Trade Mark, etc.) - my advise is to throw it away - neve...

We have a bunch of white oblong shaped pills with nothing imprinted on either side of it. We think it is ibuprofen but are just trying to check and make sure. ## Someone gave me a round white pill with no imprint on either side and said it's antibiotics. Is it? ## Good luck and gooodnightttt. I was concerned too until I checked my melatonin bottle. Be smart and keep asking questioms. ## Hello, I hope this message finds you in good health and wonderful weather. In accordance with FDA regulations all controlled medication is required to be identifiable through it's physical features (shape, color, imprint, size etc.) and because the pill you found does not have an imprint it is unlikely to be an ibuprofen. What is more likely is that you have found a vitamin, supplement, dietary p...

What is an oblong white pill with no imprints on both sides, just one line across in the width position? A friend gave it to me after I explained that my urine is light green and at the clinic my pap smear results came back as slightly abnormal cells. Is it safe to use this so called flagyl to clean my reproductive system? ## No it is not safe to treat your condition with some unknown unmarked pill, NO.

I found some small, oblong white pills and I was wondering if anyone knew what they were. They have no prints or scoring on either side, they are totally plain. If you lick them they taste sort of tangy, and bitter. Does anyone know what they are? I don't think they could be x because they are not round, and have no prints on them... ## If there are no imprints, it is going to be difficult to determine exactly what this contains. It can be ruled out as being a U.S. prescription medication, because they are all required to have unique imprints to enable their identification. Therefore, it is very likely that it is something available over the counter, but there is also a small chance that it could be a foreign medication. Does anyone else have any ideas?

looks like OTC tylenol but has no markings or imprints ## If there is no imprint, it is going to be very difficult to narrow down what this is. We can rule it out as being a U.S. prescription medication, since they all must have markings to enable their identification. However, it could be an over the counter item or even a foreign medication. Was it found in the U.S. or elsewhere? ## i found a white rather thick white oblong pill with no markings on either side. it is smooth. I was just wondering what it could be. ## Could be Tylenol 3.. not from USA, not regulated by FDA ## Large off-white oblong thick pill with no marking or scoring. Can't identify. What might this be? ## Could it be a vitamin with no marks?

barr on one side, 420 on the other side. Forgot what it is, not in original container. ## @Tadeus, I've yet to find a specific match to this pill, but I do have a feeling that its manufacturer is Barr (Teva) Pharmaceuticals USA. I would recommend contacting them directly for more information and to at least verify that it's something they actually make. There are other pills with similar imprints that come up under Barr (Teva) Pharma, so I think that may be our best clue to narrowing down some possibilities. You can reach Teva's Customer Service department via phone or email at: 1-888-838-2872 [email protected] I hope this helps! Please do post back if you here anything from them.

white with 44575 on it ## I cannot find a listing for this exact pill, but that is because pills marked with a 44, followed by 3 additional numbers are over the counter products. There are sold in several countries as the generic or store brands of common over the counter items. OTC items are not required to log their imprints with the FDA, like prescription medications are. Does anyone recognize this? ## I have these pills. They are CVS brand Cold and Sinus made by LNK International. Found a white oblong oval pill with L 1 or it looks like a 1 is this oxycodone? no other imprints on it ## Based on the description provided the closest match I'm finding is a round white pill marked "L 1"; which is identified as a 20mg Famotidine tablet, used for treating ulcers, as well as symptoms of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) and heartburn. Now I realize you mentioned that your pill was oval/oblong-shaped, so I don't know if this is a definitive match or not. Also with the possibility of the "1" not being a "1" (as you mentioned it "looks like a 1"), there could potentially be other close matches too. Does anyone else recognize this pill as something different? ## This pill is no doubt, as in 95% sure, a benzodiazepine called loraz...

I found a white oblong pill imprinted with bh on one side and blank on the other side, what is it? ## Hi Alexi, I haven't found an exact match to your pill, but I did come across a couple other pills with a very similar marking that could possibly be related. These pills had imprints of "BH 8" and "B8"; each of them being identified as Betahistine (an antivertigo drug). Their markings make me wonder if they could even be from the same manufacturer. Do you have any other clues about the type of medication it might be, based on where you picked it up at? ## its generic for tylenol there called assured 500mg

i found two blank oblong shaped pills withh just a line going the short way through the middle can anybody help me identify this? ## There are no letters or numbers on it? ## i found 1 2 looks like a aspirin or anicin blank with 1 line thru it ## I am very sorry, but if there are no markings, it is impossible to positively identify it, unless you would pay to have it lab tested. In the US, all legal prescription medications are required to carry unique imprints to enable their identifcation. Without a marking it could be any number of over the counter items or foreign medications. Is there anything else I can help you with?

I have two plain white oblong pills with no markings on them at all. What could they be? ## @Rwsgirl, Just curious, whereabouts did you get the pills from? Unfortunately there are a wide variety of things this could be due to how broad the description is. I have both calcium and magnesium tablets that share this same depiction. Not to mention the numerous other over-the-counter supplements, illicit drugs and foreign medications that don't require pill imprints like the FDA demands for pharmaceuticals here in the US. So I think once you determine their origin, then other pertinent details might also fall into place more easily... In the meantime I would probably contemplate getting these pills analyzed by a lab and/or drug panel just to have to added clarification as to what drug cat...

I know these pills are old, maybe at the most 15 years old, but I found them buried in my grandmother's stuff. It is an oblong, white pill with "LL" (in strange print almost like cursive, but not) on one side and the other side has F 22 with a vertical score line separating the F and 22. I have read only ONE other place that can even find this pill, and it says hyrdrocodone. I would really like to know what these are. Thanks ## That logo was used by Lederle, but they were purchased several years ago and the imprints were made defunct, so this may be difficult to track down, especially since they are that old. At this point I think the best thing you can do is to just dispose of them properly. A pharmacy will be able to help you with that. Does anyone recognize these?

It’s supposed to be penicillin. I don’t wanna kill myself. I bought it in Mexico. ## Hello Jay, Unfortunately any medicine that you purchased from mexico that doesn't have an imprint is not going to be identifiable. In the U.S we use the imprints on the medicines to be able to physically identify the pill which allows us to trace them back to their manufacturer which in turn allows us to pull up the information on the specific medication. As a personal rule of thumb I never take any medicine that I'm not able to identify and trace back to the manufacturer. Your pill may contain penicillin, it may simply be a placebo sugar pill or it could theoretically contain morphine. While that's a gross exaggeration it's really not off base, the fact is you simply don...

white and oblong with 20 on one side and a 4 pointed star on the other side ## This tablet, with the logo on one side and 20 on the other is a 20mg Bextra tablet, it contains the active ingredient Valdecoxib. This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that is most commonly used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. This medication was removed from the market in 2005, due to the increased risk it created of heart attack and stroke. Is there anything else I can help with?

Oblong, flat side wrapped with nothing imprinted on it or scored. ## I'm not sure if that's a type or if you meant to say wrapped, but could you please post back and clarify? If there are no imprints, then we can pretty much rule it out as being a prescription medication, since they are all required to have imprints to enable their identification. However, there are quite a few possibilities among over the counter medications and more details may help me to narrow it down. Learn more OTC drug details here.

White oblong tablet with 2 horseshoes & scoring on 1 side & 201 on the other side ## A white oblong tablet with the marking UU separated by a score on side and the numbers 201 on the other side is manufactured by Forest Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 7.5mgs of Hydrocodone and 650mgs of Acetaminophen (NDC 0785-1122). This dosage is no longer available, because the FDA changed the regulations and now require all combination medications to contain no more than 325mgs of Acetaminophen per dose, to reduce the risk of Acetaminophen toxicity. The FDA warns that this class of medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as headache, dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, and headache. What is this pill? I found them in my daughters bag. ## To be completely honest,t hey are most likely something that's available over the counter, such as a generic or store brand of Tylenol, or something similar. In the U.S. prescription drugs are all required to have unique imprints to enable their identification, in case of emergency. This law, however, does not apply to over the counter medications and supplements. Learn more OCT drug details here. Have you tried just asking your daughter about it?
