Nitrofur Macr 100 Mg (side effects)
I started this last evening for a bladder infection. 'Haven't been on this before, and am experiencing headaches about an hour after taking it, and continues for a couple of hours or so ... plus feeling sick to my stomach. I also noticed excessive thrist and urination ... like today I have drank 14 cups of water, and urinated fifteen times, and the night isn't even over ... I also feel like I've been hit by a mac truck ... ## How old are you? This medication has been known to cause severe side effects in people over 65, as they tend to be much more sensitive to it. If that isn't the answer, some of the effects, such as the excessive urination, which would in turn cause the excessive thirst, might be due to the bladder infection itself. ## I have had the infection sin... ...

The nausea can be a normal side effect of this antibiotic, however, the hypotension isn't. But the question there is whether or not you've had other side effects from it, such as diarrhea? Nitrofur Macr 100 Mg Side Effect...possible bad reaction
I took this drug about 5 hours ago. I am now very itchy and my skin is red and hot especially in the joints and my head and neck groin and backside. I have taken a shower but it did not help. What should I do? I have taken this as macrobid before and have never had this reaction or any for that matter. ## Have you consulted your doctor? It is normal for your body to change, with time, as you age, so it is always possible to develop an allergy to something, even if you have used it before, without any problems. In addition, though they are considered inactive, the fillers in generic medications are usually different than those used in the name brand, so it is possible to have a reaction to one of them, as well. In this case, it's probably not advisable to continue to use this medicat... ...

What Is Nitrofur Macr 100 Mg
Can this medicine be used to gratis a tooth infection? ## Hi Heidi, I have my doubts, because Nitrofurantoin has poor tissue penetration and is not indicated to treat anything other than simple cystitis (urinary tract infections). I would however recommend using clove essential oil for tooth and mouth related infections. Not only does it numb the pain, but it also kills the infection. A cheap natural alternative to prescription drugs, that is more effective in my opinion. I hope this helps! ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic that can be used to treat various types of infections, but it usually isn't the first choice for a dental infection. Can't afford that, is there another drug I could use that is very similar? ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic, it is used to treat infections. Have you tried asking your doctor for an alternative? This is the generic, the name brands are Furdantin, Macrobid and Macrodantin and, from what I'm seeing for the dosage, this is about the average price. How long do you have to take it? Side effects may include: nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Learn more: ## Just started on NITROFUR-MACR today and would like to know about the reaction with coumadin. nitrofur macr 100 mg rash duration
I took nitrofur macr 100 mg for 6 days of the 7 day prescription. I was having serious side effects, such as difficulty breathing, chills, intense nausea, and a skin rash. Within 24 hours of stopping the medication all of the side effects disappeared, except the skin rash. I have been off the medication for 3 days now and the rash is still present. Should I call a doctor or will it go away eventually on its own? ## Sorry that happened, Amber! You should call your doctor to be sure and maybe get something to lessen the duration of the rash, but if that's all you have left, it's doubtful that it's anything dangerous, unless you see signs of the skin breaking and tearing, ulcerating, bleeding, turning black or other unusual symptoms. However, those are signs of an allergy to th... ...

"Shelf life" of Nitrofur Macro 100 Mg
How long does it retain its potency? I am using a Rx dated 2/15/2011 for a UTI. Is it still effective? ## It has most likely lost some of its effectiveness by now. Once the original factory sealed bottle has been opened and they are exposed to the elements, they start to degrade and maximum effectiveness can only be assured for a period of one year from then. Thus, the expiration on these would have been 2/15/12. Learn more Nitrofurantoin details here. Thus, the best thing to do, to make sure you completely eradicate the infection and don't develop antibiotic resistant bacteria, would be to see your doctor for a new prescription. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello I am diabetic & have reoccurrent URIs I do have nitrofur macr with xp of 6/6/2012 would this be safe t... ...

Nitrofur Macr 100 Mg can I eat dairy?
Can I eat dairy products while taking this medication for a UTI? ## Hi Mari, While there are certain antibiotics that cannot be taken with dairy; dairy products are not listed as a food/drug interaction with Macrobid (nitrofurantoin); so in this case there is no need to worry. The reason why some antibiotics cannot be taken with dairy is because some of the minerals in these products can bind to the antibiotic, making it less effective. I hope this info helps! ...

MY BABY IS ONE YEAR OLD AND IM STILL BREASTFEEDING HIM. I TOOK NITROFUR MACR FOR TWO DAYS AND I NOTICE MY BABY IS DRAUSEE AND OR MORE TIRED THEN USUAL. CAN THIS MEDISINE EFFECT MY BABY? ## I did locate a good amount of details regarding the safety of breastfeeding while taking this medication, which you can view below: "Do not breast-feed infants younger than 1 month old while you are taking Nitrofurantoin. If your child is older than 1 month, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby." "Nitrofurantoin is excreted into human milk. Nitrofurantoin is considered compatible with breast-feeding by the American Academy of Pediatrics, although there is a theoretical risk of hemolytic anemia in neonates and G-6-PD-deficient infants. What are the side effects of taking Macr 100 Mg?
I started taking nitrofur macr 100 mg 3 days ago & am 18 weeks pregnant & now have a cold. Is it a side effect from the antibiotic or just that pregnant women are more prone to getting sick? ## Hi cvalerie, First off, I would like to mention that the user guidelines for this medication note the following precuations (regarding Nitrofurantoin and pregnancy): "You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Nitrofurantoin while you are pregnant. Do NOT take Nitrofurantoin if you are at term (38 to 42 weeks pregnant), if you are about to go into labor, or if you are in labor. Nitrofurantoin is found in breast milk.
