I was told that this drug microbide 50 mg can cause lung damage. Is that true? ## Based on my research, Nitrofurantoin has been known to cause Pulmonary toxicity (damage to the lungs) with regular use. light yellow, 50mg. I have developed a very itchy rash on my arms, I have open sores and they burn like a shingles blister. I think it is this med. Has anyone else had this kind of reaction? It is making my skin lumpy and they are unbearably itchy. I have blood stains on my sheets and pillowcases due to scratching in the night while asleep. ## Have you contacted your doctor? A non-allergic skn rash can be a normal side effect, but this really sounds like a more serious problem than that and you might need to switch to a different medication.

I started taking this for a bladder infection. I know the common side effects is the change in stool and urine color. bit private thats why Im posting anonmusly on this post. But my urine has changed to a orange color and my Im constipated. The stool also has a unusual smell. Also expereincing dry mouth. I have just had a prostatectomy (five months ago) and now I seem to have a bladder infection. I urinate every 45 minutes or so and very small amount, my urge to go is tremendous. My urologist prescribed Nitrofur mac 50mg four times a day. When will this medication kick in and relieve my urges every 45 minutes or will the urges and small amount of urine passed bu my new normal. Apreciate an opinion,

My mother was given nitro furmac as result of several UTI infections year after year. Thinking the UTI was worsening and meds weren't working just yet, we didn't realize what was happening. She actually became non-responsive and had a stroke. All due to reaction of nitro furmac. Now on bactrim daily as a preventive antibiotic for infections. Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic, it is most commonly used to treat urinary tract infections. If she is getting infections that frequently, or if it's the same one and the medication isn't clearing it up, her doctor should be running tests and trying a different antibiotic. Hi, I've taken Nitrofur-Macr 100mg and did ok with it. I recently had to start taking Levothyroxine 50mg for a thyroid condition. And now when I take Nitrofur-Macr I break out all over my neck, ears, back & arms in a horrible rash that burns almost. Is this a normal side effect? This pill is yellow and black with Watson 3250 inscribed on it. Was I dispensed the wrong dosage by the pharmacy this time? ## Yes, you did receive a different dosage, the one marked Watson 3250 is a 100mg capsule, not 50mg. If you are supposed to be on 50mgs, then you need to take that prescription back to your pharmacy and inform them of the error so they can provide you with the correct dosage.

How does it take to leave my system entirely after I have taken my last pill ## Nitrofurantoin's Half-life is about 20 minutes. However this time is increased in those with renal impairment. The time it takes to completely leave your system is varied for each individual, however most Antibiotics can stay in your system for a few days after you stop taking them.
