has anyone experienced nightmares with Multaq? Have been taking 400mg 2 times a day for 1 month now and am at the point where I don't want to close my eyes at night (althought it's better than the alternative)....also experience excessive bloating. ## The Multaq does cause bloating. You'll hear a lot of people complaining of gas issues. Multaq for me is causing Hair loss, didn't always until recently. Ive been taking it for 7 months. I get the following side effects; Hair loss, bloating, tiredness sometimes, not always, numbness in my left thigh occasionally, and ringing in my ears, this too just recently. I def would not take the drug, unless absolutely had to, which I do because of my PAC's. My Afib was cured by ablation, thank God. But since I have terrible PAC...

Hi...I'm looking at the list of side effects and it doesn't state nightmares...lol. But if i take over 2mg i get nightmares. I took 3mg by accident again tonight and had a horrible nightmare. I don't over take my meds but being upset i forgot. Anyone else get nightmares? Thanks. ## Usually, you'll find it listed in detailed side effects as dream abnormalities, and it is included for Xanax by the FDA, as a common side effect, which means it's been reported in more than 1%, but no more than 10% of the people that tried this medication. They also warn that Xanax carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, irritability, and other mood changes. What causes someone to awake in a frightened and confused state from a nap or from sleeping? ## Hello, Missy! How are you? A nightmare can do that, some medications, stress, alcohol, illegal drugs, illness… there are many reasons that this may happen, according to the NIH. How often has it been happening? Were there nightmares involved? Does the person have sleep apnea? Are they on any medications? Do they drink frequently?

Does anyone else awaken from their sleep almost in zombie mode while on Effexor? It usually takes me a good 5 minutes to completely collect my thoughts. Lol ## Yes, that can be a normal side effect of most antidepressants, according to FDA reports. They can cause REM onset latency, which means it takes longer to enter the deep dreaming REM phase of slumber and you spend a shorter amount of time in it than usual. This can cause disrupted sleep, odd/unusual dreams, and difficulty awakening. How long have you been taking it? I've found that things usually improve after a few weeks of taking them.

Hi I have taken allergex many times before as I am extremely allergic with no major side effects. I am in the middle of exams so I decided to take one allergex at night to help me sleep and to prevent allergies but I am feeling really paranoid and I get nightmares that keep me up all night. Can it be because of the allergex or is this just due to exam stress? ## Hello, Suzi! How are you doing? It is rather difficult to say what might be causing it, it could be do to either one. Medications can definitely do that, but so can stress and worrying. If it continues, you should consult your doctor for assistance. Is there anything else I can help with? ## All is good I have decided rather not to use the allergex and have not had any problems since.. I think it was just stress related though, ...

The doctor recently changed my medicine from Cymbalta to Savella. Savella worked for the pain from fibromyalgia but the excessive sweating, constantly feeling drunk, and horrific nightmares has caused my doctor to change the meds again. Anyone else experience nightmares while taking Savella? ## Savella contains the active ingredient Milnacipran, which is an SNRI and really, any medication that works on brain chemicals may cause you to experience nightmares, or other mental issues. Learn more Savella details here. What medication are you taking now? ## Thanks for the information. Right now I am not taking anything but an occasional Hydrocodone for pain. taking cymbalta and having terrible nightmares.is this a side effect? ## I have had depression for as long as I can remember, I'm 29. I've been on Celexa for about 3 years now and it has helped a lot, but for the past 2 weeks its gotten really bad. And to top it all off i've been having horrible nightmares, which make me feel worst. the dreams are so vivid and scary. Does it have anything to do with my depression?? ## Have either one of you consulted your doctors? The nightmares could be related to the medication, the depression, or both and only a doctor will be able to help you determine that. Has anyone experienced nightly nightmares that seriously disturb sleep while taking this medication. ## ABSOLUTELY.... I started having bizarre dreams as soon as I started to take it. I then progressed to very vivid nightmares and now I do not want to sleep because of it. Not the wonder drug they say it is. I want off it and as soon as I can convince my doctor, I am getting as far away from it as I can. It also has caused me to gain over 30 pounds and I am far from a couch potato. ## I have insomnia a lot. Nightmares almost every night. and they make me miserable. They seem to go on and on. Headaches during the day. I was a person who never had headaches and was a very sound sleeper. I always joked that you could take the bed out from under me and I wouldn't know it. Not any more! #...

Hi all, I have been taking Rivaroxaban (UK name for Xarelto) since November 2015 and I have a number of issues, most of which have been mentioned on here already, like joint pain and fatigue but on thing I don't see anyone else mention is having seriously vivid dreams, to the point where I wake up in a sweat and breathing rapidly with a fast heart rate too. Some dreams are quite violent or a bit gory, like I was being chased by Russians (FFS)! A few nights ago I dreamt I was picking hard skin off my feet, but the whole of the sole of my foot came away leaving raw red flesh! I cannot be alone, surely??? ## This medication has been known to cause sleep disorders and almost any medication risks causing vivid dreaming, so it's not really unusual. You may also experience nausea, headache, increased urination, hypotension, and heart palpitations. I have bad nightmares and a fever blister on my lower lip. I take 90mg contrave. Can I cut the dose in half? ## Contrave is time released, so you should not split the tablets. You would normally find a score line on tablets that can be split, but there is none in this case. NDC: 51267-890 "CONTRAVE should be taken by mouth in the morning and in the evening. The tablets should not be cut, chewed, or crushed. Total daily doses greater than 32 mg/360 mg per day (two tablets twice daily) are not recommended. In clinical trials, CONTRAVE was administered with meals. However, CONTRAVE should not be taken with a high-fat meal because of a resulting significant increase in bupropion and naltrexone systemic exposure" Ref: DailyMed

Since October 2013 I took Topamax because I have severe nightmares due to childhood trauma. My psychiatrist upped the dose to 200 mg in the morning and 200 mg in the evening. Now I have hair loss but since the last time she upped the dose I feel really weird. It is like my thoughts live their own life. Sometimes I think this is how it must feel like when you are close to a psychosis. I know that what I am thinking is weird (no, no suicidal thoughts) but I can't stop it. Can't even give an example. There is a lot of chaos in my head and not about my childhood. I have been in therapy for that. This is very weird and I am sort of tired of it. My family and friends notice it too. Here in The Netherlands the doctors are kind of: "It will pass like" with side effects. But I am...

My doctor prescribed 25 mg at bedtime. It caused terrible nightmares and I was unable to fall back asleep after. I only took it for 3 nights then threw the rest of the pills in the garbage. ## I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of the rest of those pills. A lot of prescription drugs have side effects that are unbearable. Have you talked to your doctor yet about what happened? If you experience a serious side effect, you or your doctor may send a report to the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online at fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch or by phone 1-800-332-1088. I hope this helps! ## Thanks David. I'm seeing the doctor on Thursday and will give a full report. Sometimes a side effect of a pill is worse than the disease.
