Normally, they are used for short-term treatment, about 12 to 16 weeks, because there also can be problems if you do not produce enough stomach acid to properly digest your food. I am taking Hifenac SR for knee joint pain. How long can I use it and are there any side effects? What are the advantages and disadvantages of taking it? ## I have severe back and neck pain now. I am aged 54. I had a by pass surgery in Jan 2007. I had kidney stones and they were removed in Sep 2008. I suffered from Galblader stones and the stones and galblader was removed in 1994. I was prescribled by the Dr to take HIFENAC SR and NEXPRO 2omg for 5 days morning and night, 1 tab. But till now no improvement.
