My new prescription of Pantoprazol Sod has a different number imprinted on the yellow oval tablet. Instead of P40 it is MP9. Common side effects may include: nausea, headaches, gas and constipation. ## My dad was recently prescribed "Sompraz 40" - Esomeprazole tablets. He has a history of stomach ulcer which was cured 3yrs back. And now the irritation resurfaced which is why I believe he was prescribed this medicine. On starting with this new med, there has been some changes in his voice, swelling below the area of eyes, face and tiredness. Would you please let me know if these are the side effects of Sompraz??? That said, if it the bottle was opened 2 years, like an over the counter bottle or in a bottle that was dispensed by your pharmacy, then they expired one year from that time. They don't get dangerous, when expired, but they do begin to lose efficacy and it would be best to dispose of them and pick up a new supply. Since Nexium 40 mg is now OTC, my doctor switched me to Pantoprazole sod dr 40 mg so i can continue to have it sent to me thru express scripts. Is there a difference between the two? I don't have any side effects from Nexium .... .will this new pill have side effects? ## Hello, Donna! How are you? It is a different medication, but in the same drug class, they are both proton pump inhibitors. It may cause you to experience side effects, there's no way to know, until you try it and see. have taken 60 mg dexilant for two years.for acid reflucx then started having a lot of pain in my hips..finally looked at side effect.and guess what,bone density and hip problems #1 on the list.quit taking this stuff and the ole stomach is back making as much or more acid as ever...help ## Have you consulted your doctor? The proton pump inhibitors, such as the Dexlansoprazole in this, are known to cause some problematic side effects, in some people that take them. However, if you are still having an acidity problem, you might need to try a different type of antacid, such as Pepcid, which contains the active ingredient Famotidine: But, you should check with your doctor, before trying a new medication.
