Hi. I'm looking for a pain management doctor in New Orleans/Westbank/etc area. I'm 27 and some places I called only accepts 35+. My Doc of 6yrs has cancer, so he transferred his patients. I recently found a Doc, but he doesn't prescribe soma, and reduced my pain meds. I rather just find a Doc in my area, than drive to BR each month for less meds. Thanks. ## Many Doctors do not like to prescribe Soma. You are also taking Pain Meds too? As you know pain medicine and Soma go together. Doctors know this too. Now that Soma a Schedule IV medication, you will find it harder to obtain. Still possible. ## Hi, Honey! I'm very sorry about the problems you're having. Unfortunately, even if I researched doctors for you in that area, I have no way of knowing what age or type of pa...

Can anyone help me with the name of a doctor that is not afraid to prescribe soma? I understand my prescription can not cross state line. I have been told by walgreens it has to be a local dr. ## I did not know it has to be a local Doctor as Federal Law should apply. Seems that the State is meddling in places it has no right to be, and we the patients suffer. I know in California and Arizona Walgreens wouldn't tell you this, even though the Doc might? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? To explain this issue, Soma has become more strictly controlled, since it is very commonly abused, which means that the pharmacy stock limits now apply to it, just as they do for narcotics and benzodiazepines. Every pharmacy can only stock a certain amount each month, once they are out, they are out until ...

hey everybody. A pain management patient. And I am trying to find a new doctor right now I am trying to find a doctor hopefully in the West Bank area and who is a generous Dr. And compassionate. I have seen many doctors over the past 5 years and I take very very large amounts of narcotics because of my incredibly severe injuries to my spine a Mississippi River barge accident. I was told by the people at Tulane Hospital I was the absolute worst they have ever seen. So yeah.. I need to find a new doctor right now who can prescribe me medicine that I need to be on. Specifically looking for a doctor who not only would take my insurance, but who is also prescribed me my dilaudid IV medicine that I can take home from the pharmacy.any kind of help would be much appreciated. Im goin to pain management but its too high I need one who takes medicaid ## Louisiana Medicaid will not pay for Pain Management of chronic pain. ## Did u find one or are u still having to pay a bunch for your old dr? Who is/was your old dr. ? Have u heard any good things about other dr.'s in the city? Message me homey. Thanks man. ## Hello, Sherry! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, PCPs cannot prescribe narcotic opiates for pain management. Your only option for that is to see a specialist. I wish I had better news for you, since I know it is very expensive, but that is the way things currently stand in the U.S. Are there any other questions or concerns?

My daughter runs out of her script for suboxen tommorow. She has private insurance. I need a referral of a clinic that can get her in within 48 hours for at least a consultation on her options. ## Hello, James! Sorry for the dilemma that your daughter is in. However, Suboxone treatment can only be provided by a doctor that's been specially trained in its use, there are no general clinics per se that can treat with it. And the doctors that have the waiver to treat with it can only accept a very limited number of patients. You can check for other doctors in your area via the website, suboxone.com, but I don't think there's a very high chance of one getting her in within 2 days. Learn more Suboxone details here. What happened with the doctor that was currently treating her? ## ...

My previous doctor is no longer practicing and I have been a CPP for more than 20 years. For the last 7, I was prescribed 2-80 mg Oxycontin ER twice a day and 30 mg oxycodone every 6 hours for breakthrough pain. I have not been able to find a doctor who accepts my insurance, most want cash and the visits are sky high-which I wouldn't mind if I was getting prescribed a long-acting and short-acting pain medicine. If anyone has any decent PM doctors please reply. ## Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. I've been in PM for a while now taking oxymorphone er and oxycodone 30s. I'm from New Orleans but been living in Arizona while on PM. Moving back to Nola in a few months and I'm going to need a new PM Doc. Has anyone replied to your message with a good contact? My pain management doctor has gone MIA (Dr. William Knight, Metairie, Louisiana). He has gone- there's no trouble reported to Louisiana Medical Board. Just gone. The 3 months worth of prescriptions he wrote me for Norco & MS Contin are almost gone too. I can't find a new pain dr. here (on the Mississippi Coast or New Orleans) who will take my Obamacare OR even take cash-pay patients. Additionally, I take a (low) dose of Xanax prescribed by the psychiatrist I began seeing with the onset of my chronic pain (bicycle crash). So, benzos, too. :-( Is there a doctor who will treat me in this new culture of pain medicine? I am really afraid. I am in my late fifties. ## Liz, I'm so sorry to hear of your predicament. Sadly,Even under ideal circumstances the concurrent use of benzo...

I'm looking for a compassionate doctor that will prescribe methadone in the New Orleans metro/Metairie area. Currently being treated at the UMC Medical Center in New Orleans for HIV. I'm prescribed Stribild, Adderall & Buprenorphine but I want to switch from Buprenorphine to Methadone. Please help!!! ## Hello, Nolaboy! How are you? Under current law, Methadone can only be prescribed for addiction treatment in a clinical setting by those specially trained in its use for such, thus it would be illegal for a private doctor to prescribe it. Thus, a clinic is your only option. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is ther...

Just moved back to New Orleans. Have been on Adderall and Clonapin for 8 years recently got off and need to get back on. Have PTSD and ADD. What's a good doctor that will prescribe me this if I am legit and have paperwork? I don't need a hassle. I know what works for me. Thanks. ## Hello, Robert! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were set forth by the DEA last year, you'll need to see a specialist to have such medications prescribed, so in your case, that would most likely be a psychiatrist. The FDA lists Adderall as being a stimulant that is most commonly used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy. It carries the risk of being habit forming and typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight loss and insomnia. Klonopin is listed as being a be...

I've had alprzolam prescribed to me before but I need help finding a doctor in New Orleans, Louisiana. Can anyone help me? If so, PLEASE reply ... Thanks ## If you suffer from anxiety and need a Benzodiazepine class medication (like Xanax), usually your best bet is to see a psychiatrist, rather than a regular medical doctor. Reason being is that they are better trained in the types of medications that handle these problems and many general physicians are reluctant to prescribe controlled substances due to abuse and the heavy regulations that they have to abide by from the government. If you do opt to see a regular medical doctor, some advice I can give you is to not specifically ask for any given medication right off the bat. Make sure to transfer or take a copy of all your medical ...

Hi, I have recently moved back to the new orleans area and need a doctor who liberally prescribes adderall. Any suggestions in the new orleans/metarie/ westbank area would be great. Thanks in advance ## Adderall is typically prescribed by psychiatrists and pediatricians, while general practitioners typically prescribe the medication for certain off-label uses. That said, I would consider finding psychiatrists and/or pediatricians in your area as opposed to a regular medical doctor. Reason being is that they are better trained in the types of medications that handle these problems and many general physicians are reluctant to prescribe controlled substances due to abuse and the heavy regulations that they have to abide by from the government.
