stimulate low white blood cells during chemotherapy ## I think you meant Neulasta, it contains the active ingredient Pegfilgrastim. The FDA warns that it may cause side effects, such as nausea, administration site irritation, headache, kidney issues, and spleen rupture. Has it been prescribed for you?

I will be starting Xolair after I am discharged from the hospital (kidney cancer). I would like to know what to expect. Thanks for your comments in advance. Bruce ## Xolair contains the active ingredient Omalizumab and it is not currently approved in the U.S. as a cancer treatment, it is used to treat asthma. Are you certain that is the right name of the medication you are asking about? Preliminary research has actually shown that while this does play a role in the immune systems recognition of cancer cells, it may increase risks of developing cancer. You can read more on it here: ## I have sever asthma and I have been on this drug since 2003 when it first came out. Before this, I was in the ER all the time and now being on this drug I can't say enough it keeps me out of ER and asth...

I have been in remission for three years during my last dr. apt. I was told I my blood test came back a little anemic but not to worry and continue treatment wiht 400 mg. Gleevec daily, any one else run into this ## Gleevec can cause anemia, in some people that use it, but there is generally no reason to worry, unless it becomes severe. Did your doctor tell you the specific level? You also may want to ask why type of test they did, as the visual ones that just look at the color of the blood aren't the most accurate, because colors are a matter of perception. ## Hi. I have been on Glivec (as gleevec is called in UK) for 11 years for CML. My blood results indicate the lowest measurable amount of nasty white blood cells (0.002%, which must mean that there are billions of them floating ...

dr.marshall urist, study of stem cells and this protein make up new cartilage in knees without surgery.is there such an item and dr.if so how is he contacted ## Hello! Sorry about your knees! Unfortunately, Dr. Urist passed away back in 2001, though yes, he is credited with identifying Bone-Mending Protein, he was an orthopedic surgeon. But, as it is a bone protein, it does not help cartilage, it helps bone. His work identified new proteins to help bones heal, when someone had suffered major fractures. They help with the regeneration of the bone. His work revolutionize orthopedic surgery, though ironically, it was ignored for many years, before finally being acknowledged as the "breakthrough" it was. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hello, I am new to this forum and pleased to meet you all. My partner, a 27-year old man is being treated with Crizotinib since September 2012. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Anaplastic T cells Lymphoma ALK+. After chemo we decided to continue his treatment with Crizotinib (on a clinical trial) rather than following the standard path of autologous stem cell transplant. He has never suspended the treatment apart from short periods (10 days) when his blood work showed he needed to (low white cells). He has been on complete remission since (he actually had a negative CT scan also before starting but his PCR/NPM-ALK from peripheral blood was positive suggesting the illness was still present in the blood and a high chance of relapse). Being a fairly young couple we have been wondering abo...

Will this product stop new tattoos from pealing? Will it make the ink run? Is it okay for new tattoos? ## Hello, Bek! How are you? No, it will not stop the peeling. That is a natural process, because skin cells are killed and damaged, while the tattoo is done, so nothing is going to stop a layer or two of skin from peeling off. No, topical ointments will not make the ink run, it is actually down in the tissue and not on the surface where that could happen. And no, you aren't supposed to use an antibiotic ointment on your tattoo. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I know in the comments above it says not to use pomada penicilina on a new tattoo. Can u please explain why w/ more detail. Since it is an antibiotic wouldn't it be better to use it once, not several times, just...

Supposed to be a medication that kills cancer cells, but not thegood cells. ## Hi Mong, There are actually several other discussion threads on this same topic that talk about H86 and how it works as a cancer treatment. However, after further investigation..I'm not sure if everyone is on the same page as far as what it really is. Apparently an email newsletter was sent out a while back making some enticing claims about it. But it's unusual that there aren't any other verifiable details that can be found on H 86 itself or what it's composed of. To me, this lack of evidence implies a potential product scam. Not only that, but I've noticed the HSI website is set up in the same way as many other scam sites on the internet (with several different "Order Now" button...

I have low blood cells and was told i need to take iron can i take my years outdated conison iron capsules ? ## Based on my research, Iron tablets (as well as vitamin supplements) are often noticeably less potent after they expire (especially for that length of time). However they should still be safe to take in my opinion. If you feel that it's not effective enough due to the difference in potency, it may even be worth your while to just go ahead and purchase a new box. I hope this helps!

chemotherapy in a pill form ## To my knowledge Tarceva is farily new and is still going through clinical trials. Found this on another page: Q. What is Tarceva? A. Tarceva is a pill you take by mouth to treat Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). Tarceva is approved to treat locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC after at least one prior chemotherapy regimen has not worked. Q. How does Tarceva work? A. Tarceva is a targeted treatment. It is designed to block tumor cell growth by targeting a protein called HER1/EGFR. This protein, which is present on the surface of some cancer cells and some normal cells, is important for cell growth in NSCLC. Exactly how Tarceva works is not yet fully understood; however, clinical trial results have proven that, in some patients, Tarceva can be effective in...

prescribed for diabetes ## Has anyone seen any scientific studies showing that METATROL is effective in suppressing cancer cells ## Here is a link to a report published in the British Journal of cancer. August 4, 2003. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2394381 ## Yes, there are over 100 published studies supporting it. They can be found under various names related to the evolution of the product- FWGE, Fermented Wheat Germ Extract, Ave, Avemar, Metatrol and Metatrol Pro. Each evolution has produced a stronger product. The Original Avemar coming out of Europe is a foul tasting large amount of powder and not desirable in my opinion. The newer Metatrol is made in the U.S. and is in convenient capsule form. ## Most studies I've found, including the one posted by snapshot say it may carry...

I received an e-mail from Palm Beach Research wherein Jenny Thompson of Health Sciences Institute praised and promoted DBX-13 (Avemar) as a scientifically proven cure for diabetes, cancer and other diseases. It is all natural and does not harm good or bad cells. Conventional cancer treatment can kill both good and bad cells. Is there any reliable report available on research & development? ## Hi Loren, I don't mean to bring any disappointing news, but DBX-13 turned out to be a scam for a number of individuals who've reported their experience here in related discussion threads that I've participating in. I have been taking doxycycl hyc 100mg for about 2 yrs now. I have also had ringing of the ear about that long. Just wondering if the doxycycl hyc could be the cause of my ringing of the ear? ## Hi Kim, According to Harvard Medical School, Doxycycline is one of many drugs that can cause or worsen tinnitus. Apparently it damages the nerve cells/hairs that send and receive signals to and from the brain. You can read more about that in the article linked below: health.harvard.edu/newsletters/Harvard_Womens_Health_Watch/2011/September/tinnitus-ringing-in-the-ears-and-what-to-do-about-it I hope this helps to answer your question!

Can you tak this med if pregnant and if it is expired by a month and a half ## Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic, so while it does not get dangerous to use after its expiration, it can lose potency and will not work as well. That creates the very real risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, which would be especially dangerous while pregnant. If you feel you need an antibiotic, you should see your doctor for a diagnosis and new prescription. As to using it while pregnant, it should also not be taken anytime after your 38th week, due to the babies immature red blood cells and the effect this medication can have on them. Have you spoken to your doctor, yet? ## I just took left over amoxicillin and nitrofur for a Uti that just became really bad. I'm hoping this will hold me over...
