I have been taking the above for approx 4 months . I have been cutting down to 1 a day over two weeks and not taken any for the last few days . I am feeling very nauseous since doing this could this be connected. ## Hello, Darbie! How are you? Yes, that was a pretty rapid taper, so withdrawal effects, such as nausea, dizziness and diarrhea are to be expected. Why did you stop taking it? Have you been having a problem with the medication? ## Stopped taking cos I have been having tummy problems also for about 6 months on and off. Scans Cts you name it and they can't find out why. So tried stopping all Meds to see if it helped.

For various reasons I suffer from Spinal Stenosis, Herniated Disc in Cervical area of spine, also suffered a broken tailbone. I suffer from terrible nerve pain in my pelvic area, neck, down my legs and spine. My dr. has recently put me on 50mg fentayl patch. I also take Gabapintin. These still are only controling about 59% of my pain and if I do something to aggravate my injuries I sometimes get screaming pain. A friend recommended Methadone in conjunction with what I'm taking. I have taken Oxycontin, Oxycodone in high doses so my tolerance is very high. Can anyone tell me if adding Methodone to my other meds would help and if it could be risky--as far as overdosing etc..? ## I doubt that Methadone will help you, since the Fentanyl that you are already using is far stronger than Met...

Recently my dosage has been increased from 300mg to 600mg.Getting crampy calf muscles and pins and needle sensations in my feet and hands.Any ideas out there, can this Drug cause this? ## Hello, Jamesie! How are you? It is normal to experience more side effects, when going to a higher dosage of a medication. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and mood swings. However, side effects are usually transient and should go away in a few weeks, once your body gets used to a new medication. If they get severe or linger after about 4 to 6 weeks, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

Neurontin is an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain. Drowsiness can be a normal side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, weight changes and mood swings. Yes, it should taper off in severity, after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body adjusts to the medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## At this point, I'm up to 2400 mg/day. I want to get off of neurotin I'm takig 300 mg 3x daily how long will it take? ## My father has been taking 300 mg of neurontin every morning for approximately 3 years for treatment of neuropathic pain in his feet. He was diagnosed with dementia at least two years ago and his confusion and psychosis has progressively worsened. A nurse friend of mine told me I should immediately take him off the drug since her pharmacist advised her to do the same with her father whose psychotic behavior became worse when he started neurontin. She reports a remarkable improvement after he was off the drug three days. Should I try this and what are the risks? ## For anyone still seeking this information, since this medication works on brain chemicals, because it is an anticonvulsant, it should be slow...

I am in Recovery for 8 years 7 months from a severe opiate addiction. I abused painkillers for nearly ten years. I underwent rapid opiate detox. I was given Neurontin upon discharge for the residual withdrawal to combat agitation, mood swings, irritability etc; After 30 days, the rx ran out and I didn't see the need to refill it. After all, it wasn't giving me instant gratification. However, when I stopped taking it, I began go from crying uncontrollably to dangerous road rage to nearly killing my husband throwing a blender at his head. So I went back on it. I've been on it for almost 9 years. I have never abused it or taken more than prescribed. If anything I've titrated down or taken less but have never been able to get off. Two doctors that know of my history of addic...

Not everyone experiences such a side effect, so there's no way to know if it will happen to you, or not, but the possibility is there. Normally, I'd tell someone not to worry about it, but given your psychological state and the fact that the gain h...

I have diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. I also have bursitis in my hips. Which is better to control the pain and which has less side effects - (Epleptin 300mg three times a day or Neurontin 300 mg)? ## All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, and there is no way to say which one will be the best to help any given person, since we are all different. However, regarding these two medications, both of them contain the same active ingredient, which is Gabapentin, so there is really no difference between them. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, headache, dry mouth, dizziness, mood changes, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I know I am not suppose to drink alcohol while on this medication but I have a party to go to. Is it ok to stop taking the med a day before and pick back up the day after the party? ## Drinking alcohol, while taking this medication can cause an increase of side effects, so you may feel more nauseous, dizzy and drowsy than usual. Learn more Neurontin details here. And people that take it for mood disorders or seizures can basically defeat the purpose of Neurontin, since the alcohol puts them at risk. Thus, it is best not to imbibe while taking it and not to skip doses of your medication, but if you feel you must, check with your doctor first regarding the safety and make sure that you won't be driving or operating any heavy machinery, while under the influence. Are there any other qu...

if i take 1 pill how long will it take to get out of my system if i have restless or mania effects ## Gabapentin's (Neurontin) elimination half-life is 5 to 7 hours. From what I've heard, most medical experts agree that it can take roughly 5 half lives for a drug to be completely out of your system. For Gabapentin, this can mean that it may remain in your system for up to or around 35 hours after your last dose, which is relatively short compared to many other drugs. Gabapentin's most common side effects in adult patients include dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, weight gain, and peripheral edema (swelling of extremities); these mainly occur at higher doses, in the elderly. Other side effects such as insomnia, restlessness, agitation, anxiety, disorientation, confusion, light s...

Apparently, she has an issue with downers so I'm just wondering...And what are the effects of her stopping these cold turkey? Is it possible to OD on these drugs as in just falling asleep? She also has been known to take liquid G as well on many occasions...wonderful combination. ## Hi, Nina! Sorry to hear about your daughter.
