Need to find a doctor in Upstate NY that specializes in Migraines
I have had migraines since I was 13. Recently, last 4 months, found that Oxycodone takes the pain, auora, and naseau away in about an hour, and keeps it away for up to 8 hours. This is a miracle. No other migraine drug ever worked like this. Now, with the new laws, my primary won't prescribe this. I need to locate a migraine doctor that will treat me. I only get one or two headaches a month, and take 1-2 pills for them, so I am only needing 4 to 6 pills a month, but still impossible to get them. They really are a life changer for migraine sufferers. I wish someone had tried these on me 30 years ago. My life would have been a lot easier. ## Due to the new regulations, you'll need to see a specialist, so that could be either someone specializing in pain management, or a neurologis... ...

Have Relocated From Ny To Pensacola /Destin FL area, Does anyone know of pain specialist who can help me? Need percocet 10mg. I have all my records.
Have a multitude of chronic pain issues and can not find doctor to help me.Have medical records with me. Reports from Neurologist, Rhuematologist,, Pain Treatment Center, Physiatrist, MRI's, CT Scan and three years of pharmacy records. Being treated like a drug addict. Without meds for three months. (Percocet 10/325). Not functioning and very sick. Can anyone help me? ## How have you been looking for a doctor? The reason I'm asking is because the biggest mistake I see many people making in your situation is calling a new doctor and asking if they will prescribe a particular medication. If you do that, doctors and their staff will view it as drug seeking behavior and, in many cases, you won't even get in the door. What you need to do is set up an appointment with a new pain m... ...

Big increase in gabapentin
My neurologist has me taking 1200 Mg of gabapentin and my pain specialist increased that to 3000 Mg a day. Will that big of an increase cause me any problems or side effects? ## Hi Susie, Based on my research, many patients are being told that 1,800mg is the maximum recommended dose for nerve pain. Although another drug article I found states that, "Efficacy was demonstrated in clinical studies over a range of 1800 mg/day to 3600 mg/day. However, no additional benefit was demonstrated from the use of doses over 1800 mg/day." - I'm not sure if your pain specialist is aware of this? Regarding side effects, there's always a risk involved with any prescription medication. But if you're taking an increased dose, it's likely that your risk of experiencing certain side ... ...

Is there a generic for Savella
My Humana insurance will not approve Savella for me. My neurologist sent in a special request for it and it was still denied. I was taking samples that my Dr. was giving to me but that has run out. Is there a generic for this medication yet or another medication with the same ingredients? ## I am using Savella, with good results. I had to try 3 other medications first (no relief). That is a hoop insurance companies expect you to go through. One of those other, less expensive meds ,may help you, your insurance company is hoping. Don't give up. Your insurance company can tell you and your doctor, which meds you need to try, to fulfill this requirement! ## My insurance (Wellmark Alliance Select) will not pay for Savella either regardless of letters my Dr has sent. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
Studying this subject. It is a poorly understood disease. The only real specialist in the USA is Dr. Robert Schwartzman. He is in Philadelphia and Dean of Neurology at Drexel University. ## I have no doubt that you are correct and I'm also sure that just like with Fibromyalgia, there are still doctors that do not believe it exists and that this results in some patients being misdiagnosed and their disease being poorly managed. Here's the link to a pretty comprehensive article on it, as well as source references with more information: Are there any other comments or questions? ## I was diagnosed with that complex regional pain syndrom after my accident. The ironic thing is I had heard someone talking about on TV a few years prior to my accident and I was like, just another way to... ...

Can You Overdose O N This Drug
Friend taking roxicodone with valium, tizanidine and neurontin. Could he be in danger? ## Have they all been prescribed by his doctor? It's possible to overdose on any medication and combinations can be especially dangerous. However, doctors will usually take that under careful consideration to help treat the person as safely as possible. They may make special adjustments to the dosage and should be monitoring the patient with regular appointments. ## Roxicodone and Valium, Xanax, etc. (benzodiazepines) are especially dangerous when taken together. They both can cause severe drowsiness and cause the respiratory center in the brain to shut down if taken in large doses together. Hopefully this person is taking what has been prescribed by his dr and is not dosing himself with and whene... ...

3 year old prescribed amitriptyline
My very overly active 3 year old had trouble sleeping and around September of 2011 I took him to a sleep specialist and she prescribed colodine. It worked great. But then he went to see a neurologist and the neurologist wasn't to happy he was on colodine and wants to take him off colodine slowly and fully take amitriptyline only. It's 10mg. What are some of the things I can expect? Will it help him sleep well and have less aggression during the day? ## Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant, but the only way to see if it helps him is to try it. Side effects can include: nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth. You can learn more about the medication here: Did you discuss you concerns with the doctor? ...

HEART BYEPASS SURGERY
My brother in law who is now aged 68 years underwent a byepass surgery two years back and after around a month he developed neuro problems like doule vision etc. He was advised the following additional medicines by the neuro specialist in addition to the medicines prescribed by the cardiology doctor: Pletox 50, Orokinase, Tonact TG 50, Trentol 400. Please advise how long the above tablets have to be taken. ## As to how long he should take them, that really depends on his condition and how long his doctor advises their use, it can vary from person to person, depending on how severe their condition is and how they respond to the medications. Some people may need to take them for the rest of their lives. Pletox contains the active ingredient Cilostazol, it's used to prevent clotting in... ...

Lyrica with extreme weakness not as that of Multiple Sclerosis
I started Lyrica in Nov. 2007. Two months later my feet went numb and they never recovered. It is 24 hours a day. My neurologist blamed it on my MS but I still can't believe that, as I've brought up the topic even with a top MS specialist. However, I've said over and over that MS does NOT occur bilaterally, simultaneously. It's impossible and doing so would completely contradict a symptom widely known. So, I've researched until I have about had enough. Today, my endocrinologist suggested I look at my medicines. Over the past years I have tried to eliminate and return to them. There are two that I haven't touched, one is Lamictal, the other is LYRICA. The reason I'm here is because, a year after my numbness started, I began having the most godawful exhaustion ... ...
