a really good drug for nerve pain is neourotin or gapabentin (same thing) i may be spelling wrong. but it does wonders. your welcome. ## I am starting to wonder what is wrong with me even more because Gabapintin 600mgs does nothing at all for my pain from a frostbitten foot compounded by electrical shock while standing in some water while plugging up a buffer from a 220 volt socket Plus for some reason doctors here in Indianapolis don't have a clue as how to treat my problem. I wonder why none of them offered me any of the first medication you talked about ## It did nothing for my nerve pain too. It also made me crazy with brain zaps. ## As with any medication, Neurontin (Gabapentin) does not work for everyone that tries it. We are all different, so what works well for one person mi...

I was started on Warfarin in May 2016. Dx: Pericarditis w Afib. Mid July 2016, I had a ruptured foot tendon accompanied by severe nerve pain in feet & tingling in my lips. I spoke with the doctor on call & was told it could not be the Warfarin. In June 2017, the joint & nerve pain & toe pain became so severe that I stopped the Warfarin & started Nattokinase. Yes I have been on Metoprolol & realize that can have the same side effects, but my question is specific to Warfarin. Thank you for having this great chat line. ## Yes, those can be side effects of Warfarin, according to FDA reports. It may also cause nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. As to Nattokinase, that is just a supplement, so it has not been tested and proven to help wit...

I took a hot pink oblong shaped Pill for Nerve Paiin, after foot surgery, and don't know the name of it. Doctors office states my file has been filed away and can't help me. Can you. ## No, there is no way to identify it just from the shape and color, I'm sorry.

had pain and pins and needles from my hip to my ankles on the left side of my leg. Pain so bad couldn"t sleep.Pain mangement could not help. Neurologist finally said it neuropathy resulting in a drop foot. Drop foot not curable. Will need to wear splint.. Will Mentanx help me get a normal gait to my left foot? ## Hello, Annie Fanny! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. The FDA classifies Metanx as a medical food, it is contains a variety of nutrients, such as B vitamins, that are believed to help with nerve health and function. Since it is a supplement, the only reported side effect is nausea, in some people. As to whether or not it will help, there is really no way to say, the only thing you can do is try it and see. Has your doctor offere...

I'm not sure what to do. It comes and goes. I have a rod in the femur it was 7 or 8 years ago. It's mostly when I go from standing to sittingsitting. Someone said there's a nerve that's being triggered. What's wrong with my leg????? ## Hello, Mark! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the pain you're experiencing. Yes, that does sound like nerve pain. Generally the pain like that, which comes and goes, is due to a nerve occasionally being pinched. Other symptoms, as listed by the NIH, may include pins and needles, or a burning sensation. Have you consulted your doctor? Are you on any medications?

Hi I had injured my right foot while playing cricket couple of months back and CT scan revealed a minor metatarsal fracture which was treated by putting on a fibreglass cast. However I was unable to walk and then my doc guessed I also had a soft tissue / nerve injury in the foot and prescribed gabapentin. After about a week of taking 100mg gabapentin twice daily, my pain has reduced substantially and I am now able to walk properly. What I want to know is that does gabapentin TREAT a nerve injury or only reduce the pain till the time one is taking the medicine? Will the pain come back once I stop taking it?

I have so much pain in my feet, , wrist and knee & legs. Im on Trama-dol hcl 50 mg and Morton. Also prednisone 10 mgs What other meds help with this problem ? ## Hi Binny, What type of pain are you dealing with exactly? Just general pain, or pain from arthritis? If you're able to give me more detail, I can definitely do some research and look at the other options you have. Until then, I would like to recommend acupuncture and essential oils. There are studies that can prove the accuracy of both those methods for pain. I've personally had acupuncture performed on a painful nerve in my foot and it helped tremendously. Essential oils are also beneficial in conjunction with massage therapy. I'll post a link to a page that provides information about certain oils used for pain...

Can I take both Lyrica for diabetes leg]foot pain and glucocil for blood sugar control together? Are Lyrica and Glucocil compatable? ## Hello, William! How are you? Unfortunately, since the Glucocil is just a supplement, I am unable to check for any interactions with actual prescription medications. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Lyrica as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain. Do you not take any actual medications for your diabetes? ## Thanks for comment. I am taking usual Metformin for blood sugar control and Gabapentin for nervepain which is not too effective. Therefore, reason for my query re Lyrica being added to Glucocil which I've just begun.

I've had steroid inj's. with good results till now. Usually with bed rest I'm better in a few day but with this disk the pain had been so intense and the numbness on my foot is getting worse. Usually Aleve helps but now even the Tylenol 4 doesn't help and spasms on my leg have gotten worse. I don't want more surgery, 6 is enough. What else besides inj's. will help so that I can function again and continue taking care of my great grandson? ## There are quite a few other medication options, such as Morphine, Oxycontin, Norco, Opana, and Dialudid. Have you tried any of these, yet? The FDA warns that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Is there anything else I can hel...

Had back fusion surgery. Only 6 weeks of low dose norco. Ended up with nerve pain in my foot (zapping shocks that will take the strongest person down). Ortho doc said It would go away possibly in 6 weeks, maybe longer. Ortho surgeon they will never give anyone any opioids past 6 weeks no matter what. He tells me to go to pain management but he does not recommend or refer for any one of his patients to a pain management clinic. Says he does not want the responsibility of that. Truth is he doesn't want docs asking why he give very little pain meds or have his patients being referred back to him. He said to go to my regular doc. So I did see my regular doc and they said I have to go back to my surgeon as it's his responsibility. One time the pain was so bad I went to ER, they said ...

I have sciatic nerve issues that literally shoot from my hip/back down to my foot. My Dr will only give me an anti-inflammatory with tramadol which does nothing. I need to find a doctor that will give me some relief with pain meds. ## I'm very sorry that you're in pain. What type of doctor have you been seeing? Due to the new directives set forth by the DEA last year, most general practitioners are very reluctant to prescribe controlled substances, anymore. Thus, you'll likely need to see a pain management specialist. Tramadol, however, is classified by the FDA as an opioid now, so it does carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Is there a chance your current doctor could refer you to ...

I had a HORRIBLE reaction to percocet. Vommiting, rash, itching. It made me feel so awful. I felt horribly sick! I even tried taking it with benadryl like the doctor said. No difference at all. Does anybody know of any pain meds that don't contain Morphine? I had been taking the max dose of 2 10mg lortab every 4hrs and it gave me little or no pain relief at all, wich was the reason for switching me to 1 10/325mg percocet every 4hrs. I have arthritis in my lower back and my L3&L4 discs are buldging & my L5 discs is completly blown. From this it affects my ciatic nerve causing drop foot and severe pain in my left foot & leg. I go to the neurosurgeon on May 31st. Tommorow I go to doctor to discuss the reaction to percocet and what we are going to do for my pain. Any advice ...

Can anyone advise me on a pain management physician somewhere in or around Virginia that is willing to treat with Fentanyl Patch for pain control? I have severe lordosis, pinched nerve (inoperable) and have received multiple steroid injections at both L5 and L2. The Lumbar pain has only worsened with severe Sciatica down my left leg to my left foot. I was actually discharged from the Marine Corps at age 19 for severe back pain, which over the years has responded to oral steroids, but no longer. I am being prescribed Vicodin for pain 2 tabs every 4 hours. However, the pain control is not consistent due to sleep, and I also fear taking 5 Grams/Tylenol every day. I just feel that being placed on a fentanyl patch makes more sense than constant refills of Vicodin and having to stop to take t...

I'm in desperate need of finding a Pain Management Dr. in Ms. I was just discharged from my previous pain management dr. due to a failed pill count. Yes... I know, but there is no way possible that I can go without a dr. I'm a long time chronic pain patient, I've had 3 major lumbar fusion's, I've got osteoarthritis, severe nerve damage, edema in both hips, spinal stenosis, drop foot in my right foot and a few more issues going on. I've got to find someone who will accept me even though my previous pain management dr. discharged me. If anyone knows of someone, please please let me know. Thank you very much for reading this, and I hope to hear back from someone soon!!

Just got back from Afghanistan was in multiple I.e.d attacks...constant headaches and joint pain....please help ## Hi Ben, I'm so sorry to hear about what you've been through- at least you made it back safely! I'm not from that area so unfortunately I don't know of a doctor that I can refer you to, however I thought I'd give you some information about a couple different pain treatment methods you might be interested in trying. First method I want to mention is acupuncture, I've personally been treated with acupuncture (for a painful nerve in my foot) and it was very successful, quick, and basically painless! I've even considered going back to treat migraines that I've been dealing with and joint pain. The second, is acupressure- which is less invasive tha...

I broke my leg 2 years ago and now have a heel spur, arthritis on the top of my foot and a pinched nerve aka CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome) in my ankle. I am hopefully getting a spinal cord stimulator surgically installed in a couple months. I truly don't know how much longer I can handle the pain. I take 16mg of Suboxone everyday, I want to ask my doctor if he can switch me to a strong opiate for the next couple months and then switch back to Suboxone but wean off in a week instead of long term maintenance. I know Suboxone helps with pain but surely an opiate will be stronger? ## Yeah it definitely would, I don’t think you can easily make the switch though. I know that when I withdrew from regular pain medication withdrawal was over in a few days, I mean it took a full...

Dear sir/ madam i met with an bike accident my two legs got fractured and my nerves Is damaged.. My doctor told nerve is not fully damage but it is slightly damaged.. Now i am having foot drop condition i am able to move my leg fingers little bit.. Is maxgalin is proper drug to treat foot drop condition. plz send u r valuable Suggestions ## @Vijay, Sorry to hear about what had happened to your legs during that accident. I really hope you manage to make a full recovery. From what I could gather, Maxgalin (Pregabalin) is commonly used for treating the pain associated with nerve damage. So it sounds to me like the doctor gave you the right type of medication for your condition. But none-the-less these kinds of injuries can often take a long time to heal, depending on the severity of it. Yo...

I have MS pretty much in the advanced stage in the first night while on mirtazapine I got strong electric shock pain in both legs coming and going – totally unbearable! These pretty much ceased to exist although coming back a different form every now and then but now the latest that has been excruciating pain in one or the other feet. Since mirtazapine works along the nerve pathways, making them stronger, I've read – this makes sense a definite no-no for someone with pain there already! Duh – Dr. "specialists"! ## I was given Mirtazapine about 2 weeks ago to help with sleep, took 15mg before bed as directed, went sleepy. Very next morning got electric shock sensation from leg into foot, kept taking dose, electric shock / zap / pins-and-needles thing keeps h...

I have severe chronic pain in my back, hip, right buttock, thigh, knee, calf, foot. Much like Siatica but much worse as all nerves below injury site in mid to lower back are effected. For example,in my right thigh both the outer cystic nerve & the inner nerve that runs just under your carotid artery to the inner side of your knee are both equally severely painful. I have had a myriad of major surgeries, none least ng less than 7 1/2 hours & the 1st over 13 hours with 2 neurosurgeons working. It was in this surgery that I actually woke up, eyes were taped, on stomach, rear end in air, unabated, I just remember hearing the Anesthesiologist yelling oh s**" he's awake, I was screaming in unbelievable pain & trying yo pull out the tube that felt like it was chocking me, I...

Fibro Dr. In Mn. who will really listen me and not just think I am drug seeking. I am 42 years old. Was dx with fibromyalgia approx. 3 years ago. I have degenerative disc. disease as well as bulging disc in L5. In 2003 i had a gastric bypass done and so i metabolize medication faster and differently than those who have not had the surgery. In 2015 I had surgery on my left ankle to repair tendons and shave a bone spur. But while under they found that my achilies tendon was days if not hours from rupturing, so they had to repair that. And fix several other tendon, ligaments and pining of bones. So, what was to be just a 4 hr surgery turned into 10. This surgery has also left me with exstreme nerve pain and instability in ankle and foot. So, please if anyone knows of a Dr. that is willing to
