My son just called me from the hospital. He said they're giving him narcotic pain medication through his IV that starts with the letter B. ## It could possibly be Buprenorphine, it is an opiate that is also used to treat drug addiction, but helps with pain for some people. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Another possibility is Butorphanol, it carries the same risk and causes the same side effects. Can he ask them what they are giving him?

Hello I'm trying to find out the new pain medicine that kids are taking today that replaces the pain pill oxycontin. I saw a show on TV about this but I can't remember what It's called? I think it starts with the letterA? It's the new drug craze today. ## The only one I can think of offhand that starts with an A would be Actiq, it contains the narcotic Fentanyl, which is over 80 times stronger than Morphine and is available as a lollipop, it's a formulation used for slow release of the medication. Does this sound familiar?

I personally don't have much experience with narcotic pain medications, but it sounds like you may want to speak with your doctor about trying an extended release narcotic pain medication such as Opana ER (ER stands for extended release), Oxycontin, or Morphine ER. Also, I do know from personal experience that exercise can really benefit those with fibromyalgia. My father has fibromyalgia and whenever he starts back on ...

I am taking for pain of a tooth that needs to be pulled. Also taking clindamycin for infection. When should I feel relief from pain? ## The Norco should help about 15 to 20 minutes after you take it, though it may not reduce all the pain, depending on the severity of the infection. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Once the antibiotic starts taking effect, then the pain will greatly ease and you should start seeing improvement from it in about 3 days. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

pain pill ## I believe this person was confusing the names of several medications. The pain medication that starts with a D and is most commonly misunderstood is Dilaudid, it is a very potent narcotic analgesic. Thus, it has the potential to be habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. You can learn more Dilaudid details here. Are there any comments or questions? Is there anything I can help with?

can hydrocodone/IBU be taken with doxycycl hyc ## There are no interactions listed, between taking them together, that I can find, however, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. This combination is often given to patients with infections that cause pain, such as dental infections, to treat the pain in the interim, until the antibiotic starts to work. The Hydcrodone with Ibuprofen are the active ingredients in Vicoprofen, which is a narcotic pain reliever and it may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. I've been using the the 25mcg patch for chronic pain for 3mos. and feel it is not working as well as it did in the beginning. Could I be building a tolerence this soon? Should I ask my neurologist to increase the dosage? or should I ask for other pain med to use with the patch? ## You have definitely built up a tolerance. Also, the problem with extremely strong narcotics like fentanyl is when you become dependent (NOT addicted, big difference), your brain starts to send out a false sense of pain that is telling you that you need more and more. It is all up to you and your doc. The more and the longer you stay on it the worse it will be to get off of it (withdrawals). Also they could could give you something else on top of the fent for breakthrough pain, but it will just probably be ...

its for pain its a oval shaped pill with gx es7 on it i would like to know what it is and what is made of ## Well this is definitely NOT Oxycodone. Pill Image This is called Ceftin it is 250mgs, the active ingredient is called Cefuroxime, it is a Cephalosporin class antibiotic. This treats many different types of infections, including respiratory, but it is definitely not, any type of narcotic drug. ## By the way, I am not sure who told you it was for pain, but it does not fall under that classification either, as I said, just an antibiotic. The only way it will help pain, is if the pain is being caused by an infection, and after a few days of taking this antibiotic and it starts to work, then the pain will naturally ease, as it would with any antibiotic once it started working and defe...

Ther for Migranes. They contain Butalbital, Acetaminophen and Caffine. I don't think there narcotic. They can cause drowsiness. But they don't for me. I get pains down my leg usually when the weather changes from warm to cold and when it rains. I have always taken Norgesic Forte as soon as the pain starts and it always takes care of my pain. I can no longer get Norgesic Forte and the substitute my Pharmist told me to ask my Doctor for does not work. What other medications should I ask my Doctor for. I am in pain daily ## Hi Barney, Sorry to hear about your situation. I can't find any information on why norgesic was discontinued, but I think if you were to look into other Rx pain management options, there's always the usual list of narcotics to choose from; Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Percocet, Norco, Dilaudid, Opana, Fentanyl, etc...Your doctor would probably know better than anyone else, which of these medications might be most a...

I have a friend who wears a patch on their back. They also drink and take ibprophen, and some vicoden. Isn't this extremely dangerous? I tried to discuss this issue and they told me the doctor said it is fine. ## It's okay.. all except the drinking. All people on a patch should be taking a short acting narcotic as well for flare up pain. The IB is also okay. You should get them to stop drinking though. ## If it is all prescribed by their doctor, then they are monitoring their use, the problem starts when someone is combining them and they aren't prescribed. As to the drinking, no, that should never be combined with narcotics, that is very dangerous and even lethal in some situations. ## It depends what kind of patch it is. If it's the morphine patch I would seriously ste...
