Naproxen Ingredients

I've been diagnosed with Intracranial Hypertension age 21 an have been prescribed both naproxen and tramacet!! Does any one know if I can take the two together????? ## Hi little one, Based on my research there are no drug interactions found between the active ingredients in Tramacet and Naproxen. This does not necessarily mean no interactions exist, but my sources state that every effort has been made to ensure that the information provided is accurate. That said, I would personally feel safe taking the two together. You may also want to consider adding some natural alternatives to the mix (such as essential oils), in conjunction with a diet high in potassium and magnesium (more fruits and veggies). The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. If you wish to know the inactive ingredients, I need more details, such as who the manufacturer is, or what the markings are on the tablets. Can you please post back and clarify? The long answer is that the expiration date could mean multiple things ranging from the expectancy of the medication to maintain it's maximum level of potency. In some cases the medication would still be good but just not as effective as it was prior to the expiration date. On the other hand, some medication contains active ingredients and inactive ingredients that may deteriorate and make the medication react differently with you. Are naproxen 500 Mg tabs gluten free? ## @Wm1202, From what I could gather, the inactive ingredients in Naproxen 500 mg tablets are as follows: -[Croscarmellose sodium]- This comes from wood pulp or cotton fibers. It contains no sugar or starch. -[Povidone]- This is made from synthetic polymers -[Magnesium stearate]- 'Well, we know magnesium is gluten free...' Having seen that list I think it's safe to say that any Naproxen containing this particular set of inactive ingredients is deemed gluten-free. Please be aware however that binders/fillers may be subject to change from one product to the next. I hope this helps!

I was told not to take ibuprofen. Is Naproxen the same ingredients and side effects. ## Why were you told not to take it? This would be a factor in determining the proper answer. Naproxen contains the active ingredient Naproxen, it is not the exact same medication as Ibuprofen, but it is in the same drug class, which means it is also an NSAID. Therefore, if you were told to stay away from all NSAIDs, then you shouldn't take it.

I take 325 mg of naproxen 2x a day for knee pain. Can I take 1-2 capsules of 25 mg of Diphenhydramine for allergy relief? Just for one evening. Not planning on taking any more. ## Yes, you can take them together, as long as your doctor approves. If you check the ingredients of some of the pain relief PM medications you'll find that they actually use Diphenhydramine in most of them to help people sleep. With that noted, the Naproxen may potentiate the drowsiness side effect and it could knock you out for the day, so make sure you won't be driving, or operating any heavy machinery.
