Nabumetone is a nonacidic NSAID prodrug that is rapidly metabolized in the liver to the active metabolite, 6-methoxy-2-naphthyl acetic acid. As found with previous NSAIDs, nabumetone's active metabolite inhibits the cyclooxygenas...

What is Nabumetone taken for? ## This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, used to reduce inflammation, swelling and pain from these problems. It is primarily used to treat various types of arthritis. ## Does nabumetone come up on federal drug panels? And if so, for what? It's a random evaluation for work. ## I was given this drug after my open heart surgery in 2010. I made me feel like my blood was cooking me. I don't know why they gave it to me. But after I told them I was burning, they gave me something to stop it. And told me I was allergic to it.

I have only taken 500mg for 2 days. My last dose was at 8am on 9/10/16. I am no longer going to take them since it was giving me a migraine. We have a family party today at noon and would like to have a beer or 2 but everything says no drinking, would I be fine? ## Everything piece of clinical literature I've read on Nabumetone and alcohol also implicate serious drug interaction warnings. So take it for what you will, but I would personally advise against any combination of those two substances, even the smallest amount. If on the other hand the medication is out of your body then that's a different story, but I think it would probably be best to wait at least a few days to drink since Nabumetone has a long half life. I hope this helps!

I have only taken 4 pills of this drug, and since I took it this morning I have been nausea all day long. When I eat (which doesn't sound good) it only relieves the pain temporarily. I've had a dull headache for the past week, should I be concerned? ## Nabumetone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so what you've described can be normal side effects from it, as well as dizziness and stomach irritation. However, if they are very problematic, then you should consult your doctor, because this may not be the right medication for you, or you may do better with a different dosage. Are there any other questions? ## I took a 500 mg Nabumetone tablet this morning! It is my final dosage of a ten day regimen. When is it safe to take ibuprofen? ## Why is nabumetone being discontinued? ...

I took one tablet of Nabumetone around 11pm and feel very dizzy right now. How long does it remain active in your body? I took one 750mg Tablet ## Hi Tina, Sorry to hear about how you were feeling. Are you doing any better now? According to nih.gov, Nabumetone has a 24 hour half-life. This means if you took 750 milligrams, then by the 24 hour mark there would only be 375 active milligrams left. Every 24hrs, half of every remaining half can be subtracted in order to get an estimate of how long that dose stays in your body; which seems to me that it could be several days. I hope this helps!

I know Nabumetone has been developed by Beecham and it's available under numerous brand names, such as Relafen, Relifex, and Gambaran but none of these are available through my patient assistance program. Please list all available name brands that you know of so that I can see if I can get a refill of my prescription. ## Hi Sandra, According to nih.gov, brand name Relafen is no longer on the market. However they go on to note that "generic alternatives may be available" - So I'm thinking it might just be a good idea to talk with your doctor about a generic option if that's the only thing available. The information on Relafen's availability was said to be last reviewed/officially verified by nih.gov back on 09/01/2010 (with no recent updates on their website of an...

2 days ago I took Nabumetone 750mg (one capsule). If I start taking Cyclobenzaprine 5 mg, will this be safe? ## I didn't find any problems, or interactions listed, I would think the risk would be very low after taking them 2 days apart, but it is always best to double check such information to be safe. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Cyclobenzaprine as possibly including nausea, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, and sedation. Are you on any other medications?

I was prescribed this medicine to help with the many migraines I get. I get some of them in the back of my neck and my normal migraine medicines (Relpax) and (Naratriptan) don't always help. They do work more for the migraines that I get behind the eyes. Anyway, I am trying to get more information about Nabumetone 500. For example: what medicines are ok to take with this drug and what meds would be extremely unsafe? Ex: I was told to avoid Naproxen. What about Tylenol or Excederin? What about Butal/Apap/Caf 50/325/40? Thank you!! ## Nabumetone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, that means you should avoid other NSAIDs, while taking it, which is why you were warned about the Naproxen. Taking more than one of them, at once, seriously increases your risk of developing bleeding proble...

Nabumetone is a prescription drug or over counter drug? ## Hi barbara, From what I could gather, Nabumetone is classified as a prescription-only medication here in the US. And not to sway off-topic but I saw a study by NIH.gov comparing the effects of other OTC nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, etc) relative to the effects of Nabumetone on conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Interestingly enough the other over-the-counter NSAID's displayed similar efficacy in treating osteoarthritis, but Nabumetone was superior to them all when it came to rheumatoid arthritis. Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8356999 I only mention this because depending on what you intend on using Nabumetone for, there may be (easier to obtain) over-the-...
