I've been taking 240 Percocet 10/325 for over 10 yrs with 60 mg MS Contin twice a day for breakthrough pain. When I'm out of the blue my doctor sends me to a pain management specialist because he says he can't write for any narcotic over 120 tabs a month. I go to this new doc who wants to inj. something in my spine in an area he calls the sweet spot, and that I have been over medicated by my other doctor but only after a MRI which I had and I went back after my scan and it turns out I don't have a sweet spot. My thecal sac is 5.4 and gets worse the lower it goes. So he sends me to a surgeon with a script for Percocet 15 mg and it's not touching my pain. I was wondering if I should request something stronger? I was at least able to function with my old med plan but I...

Can I cut this oxycodone 30mg pill in half (v 48/12)? I'm prescribed it for breakthrough pain along with fentanyl 75mcg that's also prescribed for chronic pain. ## This is a regular release formulation, so it ca be cut, or broken, with your doctor's approval. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are these the only medications you are currently taking?

I've been on 15 mg morphine ER every 12 hours for nine months (for pain from thorcotomy/lobectomy for lung cancer). My pain mgmt dr changed it to morphine 15 mg immed release (I didn't realize til I got the rx filled a week later.) None of my other meds have changed (percocet 10-325 mg 4x day, gabapentin 600 mg 3x day, 2 mg zanaflex every night). I would love to stop taking all these drugs but still have significant pain and two young children to care for all day. I told my dr that I'd really love to stop the morphine at least and he said we would just drop it and replace it with more percocet. This alarmed me because my other drs told me it was very important never to stop taking it "cold turkey" and to do it under care of psychiatrist who could prescribe other non-...

Hi, I am prescribed oxycodone HCL 10mg. This medicine helps a lot with my chronic pain but this time when I received my medicine it had this kind in my bottle; the ones with the np and 12 on it. When I take it, it has no affect on my pain. Can you tell me why? What do you recommend? ## I agree th np 12 oxycodone is not like the flat round ones. They do little for your pain and they are NOT immediate release. ## If I had to speculate on why it's not working as well, there could be a variety of factors influencing its efficacy either all at once and/or singularly at different points in time; be it our metabolism and how it changes throughout the day, our tolerance, weight, body chemistry, different inactive ingredients, less active ingredients used in different generics, etc, etc... For about a year now my Walgreens Pharmacy has only been able to get the Sun brand, and even that is often on back order. Several times I’ve had a bottle that several of the pills just dont work. Has anyone else had this experience? I’ve had other brands that seemed to work better but don’t remember the makers. A friend told me that he has experienced this issue as has his sister, but he didn’t know the maker. Does anyone have a brand that works better than others? ## Simply put, the ER formulations for me never helped much only instant release did and worked very well...much much better than the Extended Release. Ask the Doctor for a low dosage of the Immediate release, if they will do that. It seems the ER formula isnt working for you. I was also taking the 12....

Opana Oxymorphone Hydrochloride

Oxymorphone (sold under the brand names Numorphan and Opana among others) is a highly potent opioid analgesic indicated for treatment of severe pain. Pain relief after injection begins after about 5–10 minutes, after oral administration it begins after about 30 minutes, and lasts about 3–4 hours for immediate-release tablets and 12 hours for extended-release tablets.[4] The elimination half-life of oxymorphone is much faster intravenously, and as such, the drug is ...

Is this immediate release or extended / sustained release? I have migraines and this was prescribed as "3 tablets by mouth at bedtime." But if it is immediate release do I really want to be taking all 360 mg at once? Shouldn't I take 1 pill 3 x per day instead? ## Have you asked your doctor, or pharmacist about this? The tablet you asked about is 120mg regular release tablet, which means it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start working. That is a little higher than the normal preventative migraine dose, which is usually 240mgs at bedtime. ## I too had migraines. I started on Calan SR 120mg (there were no generics ) about 16 years ago. After a year the migraines came back so my doctor increased the dosage to 240 mg. After three years, my insurance company decided that they wo...

Now with new pain management on 5-325 oxycodone 2 a day for break through and 15 mg morphine sulfate every 12 hrs. In pain consistently. is the a-125 round blue pill of the oxycodone 30mg imm rel better than the m's ## Immediate Release is intended to do exactly that, it releases the medication immediately, rather than taking 20 minutes like standard pills or being time released like Oxycontin. Side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth. Read more: Do you have any other questions? ## They make you abducted by aliens. They get rid of Bieber Fever. This is the highest dosage unit of immediate release morphine made anywhere, just the one brand, VERMOR-60 by Verve Healthcare. I take them simply because they are much cheaper than any other morphine sulphate I have ever come across, and I need three 'rescue' doses of an opioid analgesic daily since my Oxycontin 120mg tablets seem to last only 6 hours, and not the twelve claimed on the box... Has anybody noticed that the new caplet shaped tabs are subjectively stronger than the old round ones? ## Just as a wee addition to my original post - SEVREDOL is the 'Gold Standard' & most-dispensed brand of IR morphine, being found in most countries (as will be evident to those who use IOPs to acquire medication), & are made in green 50mg, pink 20mg and turquoise 10mg tab...

just started getting them and not sure how they will make me feel. they"re blue and have 48/12 on one side an a v on tha other side. ## That's actually not a 5mg Oxycodone tablet, that's a 30mg Oxycodone tablet and it's actually listed as being an immediate release formulation, so it would be a generic for OxyIR. And if you were used to taking the 5mg, then this is quite a jump in dosage and you need to proceed with caution. You may experience more side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. If it is too high of a dosage, you may also start to show the signs of CNS depression, which could include extremed drowsiness and sedation, shallow breathing and lowered heart rate and blood pressure. What lead you to believe these were only 5mg tablets? ## ...

Is oxycontin and Percocet the same thing except without the tylenol ## Yeah. It's usually extended release instead of the percocet, which is immediate release. Not all the time but that's what I've seen. ## Hello, Katy! How are you? No, Raine, you are correct, both contain Oxycodone, but Percocet also contains Acetaminophen/Tylenol and Oxycontin just contains Oxycodone in a 12 hour time released formulation. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. How long will the effects of M60 last? I have a migraine headache and have to be up for work at 530 am...it is 7p.m.now... ## It will last about 12 hours and it's really not advisable to take Morphine for a migraine, anyway.
