Found some Mylan 810 (12.5 hydrochlorathiazide in my travel bag and am asking what the shelf life is. Last time I traveled was at least 5 years ago. ## They have probably lost quite a bit of potency by now, though they do not get dangerous, once they are past the expiration date. However, they will not be as effective as they were years ago. If they were in a pharmacy dispensed bottle, the expiration date would be one year from the date it was filled, since that's when they are exposed to heat, light and other elements that cause degradation. If they were in a factory sealed bottle, the shelf life is about 3 years, so they still would have expired about 2 years ago. It is a water pill typically used to empty the system of water and salt, in an attempt to lower one's high blood pressure.
