I have MS and infuse with Tysabri. I am having severe muscle spasms. I am allergic to Lyrica, Baclofen, Methocarbamol, all prednizone drugs, etc. I take Dilaudid for pain as I also have a frontal-lobe brain tumor. I do go to a pain clinic, but my insurance BC/BS has denied my claim for muscle relaxants. Apparently, my pain clinic cannot prescribe Soma. I suffer from migraines and I am asking what can be prescribed for severe muscle spasms? Thank you. ## Hi Rae, sorry to hear about your pain. There's another thread on this site asking about Diclofenac in conjunction with Tysabri. I checked both the webmd and medscape drug interaction tools and nothing was listed between those 2 drugs. Have you asked your doctor about Diclofenac? I'd be really interested to know what they say. Alt...

The lower sphincter of my oesophagus won't relax to let food pass (achalasia?). My doctor prescribed nitrate (isordil), which works sometime but it gives me such a headache that i gave up on it. Is there a reliable muscle relaxant that i could try? Reading up about diclofenac puts me off: the risks are not trivial, especially at my age (82), though it has helped me for other complaints. Thanks. ## No, Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that is most commonly used to treat pain, fever, and swelling. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, easy bruising, and increased risk of bleeding. There are many reliable muscle relaxants that you could try, but it really depends on your overall health, any other medications you may be t...

I found a white round pill that is suppose to be a muscle relaxer it has no markings on either side. ## If you found it, how do you know what it's supposed to be? In the U.S. muscle relaxants require a prescription and prescription tablets are all required to have unique markings to enable their identification, in case of emergency. Thus, if it has no markings, then we can rule it out as being a U.S. manufactured muscle relaxant. Muscle Relaxant Where was it found?

Like lortab and percocet? ## This tablet is manufactured by Watson Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 500mgs of Chlorzoxazone, which is a muscle relaxant. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. I took two 750mg Methocarbomal pills and ONE 10mg Cyclobenzaprine HCl pill. I am a 180lbs female at 5'7". I'm worried that it may be too much, but the methocarbomal by itself wasn't easing my pain. Will I be okay to sleep or should I seek medical help? ## How are you doing? Are you okay? First of all, muscle relaxants are not the same as analgesics, so you can't expect them to ease your pain as an actual pain medication would. These can ease pain caused by muscle pain and spasms, but that's the most they do. You can learn more Methocarbamol details here and you can learn more Cyclobenzaprine details here. And it is never wise to double up on any medication and to add another in the same category, that's a very dangerous thing to do. These can cause depression...

I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Initially I was given muscle relaxants and other pain reliever drugs such as Felxura 400, Aceproxyvon, Epry 50, etc. along with stringent physical exercise. Now, my doctor advised me to stop all medicines and take only Shine 10 mg along with physical exercise to continue very religiously. What is this Shine 10 mg meant for ? Does it have any side effect ? I hope, I am under right way of treatment. ## Doctor prescribed me Shine 10mg. and I am taking regularly. Does it have any side effect? ## All medications carry the risk of causing side effects, even over the counter products. According to what I've found, this contains Etoricoxib, which is a Cox-@ selective inhibitor that's used to treat the pain and swelling associated with arthritic c...

muscle relaxant ## I am finding it listed as a muscle relaxant on several Spanish websites, but I cannot find a listing of what it contains. As a group, though, muscle relaxants generally cause such side effects as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. Does anyone else have more information on this and its active ingredient? ## Carisodoprol 350mg per pil ## correction there... Carisoprodol at 350 mg per pill ## tensapriv ## Is real good stuff, kinda like a Qaalude. Just be very very careful not to take more than prescribed dose. Can you be on suboxone and take soma for severe muscle spasms and pain? ## Yes. ## I would not suggest doing so without your doctor's approval, but yes, narcotics and muscle relaxants are often prescribed together, to help control pain that one doesn't touch. Hello everyone! I had an MRI done in December of 2010 on my lower back and was treated with oxycontin 30mg and muscle relaxants from a clinic in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I did that for one month and the pain in my back was gone but I was afraid to get addicted so I stopped and have since been in progressively worse pain. Now for my question, I recently moved to the St. Petersburg (Tampa Bay) area in Florida and am looking to find a doctor who will honor my MRI (3 years old) and also not give me a hard time for prescribing the right pills that ease my pain. I unfortunately lost all the documentation from the Pain Management clinic in Fort Lauderdale about my condition and the place has since been closed. Can someone recommend a clinic for me within my area? I would highly appreciate it. I am...

allergic to diclofenac can i take chlorzoxazone ## Hi rich, From what I could gather, Chlorzoxazone is in a class of medications called skeletal muscle relaxants. Diclofenac on the other hand, is listed as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). So if you are allergic to one, there shouldn't be any problems using the other, since they are not the same type of medication. I would however recommend discussing this with your Dr first, just to be on the safe side; as some people may be allergic to more than one type of substance. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Chlorzoxazone Details Is this your first time taking either of those medications?

Can I take Percocet and Robaxin together for pain? ## Hello, Jenny! How are you? As long as your doctor has prescribed them both and approves. Muscle relaxants and analgesics are often prescribed together to help someone control pain. However, they both can increase sedation, so you shouldn't combine them, if your doctor hasn't specifically instructed you to do so. You should also know to watch for any possible danger signs, such as extreme nausea, dizziness, sedation and shallow breathing. Typical side effects to Robaxin may include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache and dry mouth. Percocet is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything els...

I ran out of my tramadol was wondering if could be take the gabapentin in its place with my methacarbam muscle relaxants ? ## Hello, Slo! How are you? Gabapentin is not an actual analgesic, so it won't work like the Tramadol. As classified by the FDA, it's actually an anticonvulsant that can also help with some types of nerve pain and some mood disorders, but it must be taken for 4 to 6 weeks, before it will reach its full level of efficacy in the body and alleviate pain. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. Tramadol, however, is an opioid analgesic that carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. Methocarbamol is a muscle r...

I am prescribed cyclobenzaprine 10 mg for muscle spasms. I recently strained my rhomboid muscle and went to the ER and they prescribed methocarbamol 500 mg. Can they be taken together? ## These are both muscle relaxants, so it is usually best to stick with just taking one, to avoid the possibility of overdose. The FDA warns that taking too much of this class of medications could result in nausea, dizziness, severe drowsiness, shallow breathing, and possibly respiratory failure, which may be fatal. How are you doing? Are you on any other medications?

Is it dangerous to take Methocarbamol 500 mg with hydrocodone 7.5mg / acetaminophen 500mg? Are there drug interactions? ## Muscle relaxants, such as Methocarbamol and narcotics, such as Vicodin are often prescribed together to help treat pain. However, there are some risks associated using them together that you should know to watch out for. They can both cause central nervous system depression and this can be made worse by using them concomitantly. This means you should watch for breathing problems, such as very shallow breathing and low breathing rate, slowed heart rate and pulse rate, as well as feelings of heavy sedation. Have you spoken to your doctor or pharmacist about your concerns? ## I am taking 1 tab 3 times a day of Methocarbamol 500MG and aleve for pain in my hip and thigh ...

Will Soma help with the muscle spasms associated with bulging discs in the neck? I am currently taking Zanaflex, but am concerned about the side effects caused by this muscle relaxer. ## It may help, but the side effects profile is basically the same, since they are both muscle relaxants. The FDA reports that you may experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and dry mouth. What other side effects are you worried about? Maybe those can be addressed in order to better help you. Can you please post back and clarify?
