Is there a harmful interaction between Mucinex D (Guaifenesin/Pseudoephedrine HCI) and HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide). I take HCTZ for high blood pressure, but would like to take Mucinex D for nasal/sinus congestion. ## Hello, Art! How are you? What is your normal blood pressure level? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between the two, however, you should check with your doctor, before you take the Mucinex DM. Some decongestants can elevated your blood pressure and raise heart rate, so it may not be safe for you to take it. Coricidin has a line of products you may want to look for instead, they are labeled HBP, so you know they are safe to take, if you have high blood pressure. Lisinopril is classified by the FDA as an ACE inhibitor and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increase urination and hypotension. I have been on Diltiazem for two months and my sinuses are dried up and I am totally stuffed up all the time. Could this be a side affect of taking this drug. I have tried everything else to figure out why this is happening (Catscan, etc) without success. ## Yes, congestion can be a side effect of most of these types of medications that are used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac issues. The FDA lists other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Have you tried anything to clear up the congestion?
