So I just got switched from oxymorphone 30mg ER to the MS CONTIN 30 30MG AND 30 60MG ER'S a month. I tried to get my doc to just write me 40 100mg MS CONTIN but he did not do that. Everybody knows that different mg's act differently like when I took 56 of the 20mg oxymorphone era. They sucked so bad not even 3 20's equaled one 30mg oxymorphone. So knowing from past experience I tried the 100mg MS CONTIN about 5yrs ago from a friend and they worked GREAT exactly the perfect mg I needed but knew I would never be able to get my doc to write that high of a mg. And I was right 5yrs later I still can't get it. I tried explaining it to him but he wasn't having it. So my question is what manufacturer is the best for the 60's and 30's? N yes I know EVERYONE is differe...

I've been taking this for a severe foot injury now after my second surgery I want to stop altogether! Before I started taking ms contin my pain doctor had me on percocet 10/325 6 tablets daily. I'm in much less pain and I'm tired of the side effects! How do pain management doctors wean people off of this? ## They decrease the daily dosage. Talk to your dr and tell him that you pain is less and that you want to taper off of the MS Contin. Tell him that there are times that you still need pain meds, but not 27/7.

I have been taking 40mg oxycontin 3x a day. My insurance won't cover it any more. My Doc prescribed ms contin 30mg 2 x a day. will it work? ## Oxycontin contains the active ingredient Oxycodone. It is stronger than the MS Contin which contains the active ingredent Morphine. Both are narcotic pain relievers. That said, your doctor has actually prescribed you a lower dose, to be taken less frequently than what you were taking of the Oxycontin. However, the only way to see if it will help you is for you to try it. Some medications are effective for certain people, some are not. If this dosage does not handle your pain, make sure to contact your doctor right away and let them know. They may need to prescribe one that is slightly higher or to be taken more frequently. You may still exper...

I have recently began with a new PM dr that is fabulous. He basically lets me determine the best combo of pain meds for my back and hip issues that are too numerous to list, however, the severity requires anterior/posterior surgery which I'm trying to avoid at all costs. He originally gave me both ms contin and opana to try to determine which works best for me. The ms contin killed the pain but also killed the brain if u know what I mean. The opana worked good but it only has a bioavailability of roughly 10% which makes me feel as tho I'm wasting my time. I'm also taking percocet 10's for breakthru that honestly seems to blow the opana out of the water as far as effectiveness. So my question is who thinks if I switch to the ms 30mg er with perc 10's for the breakthru...

I am currently prescribed MS Contin for pain and while effective I sometimes feel like some of the pills are fake. I get no relief and feel withdrawal symptoms even. I have looked at them under a magnifer but they all look the same. Is it possible that someone at my pharmacy is switching some of my pills for pacebos? If so, how do I deal with it? ## I am experiencing the same problem. Generic MS Contin ER, 60mg tablets. I have been taking these for 11 years, but for the past week and a half my pain level became extremely high. Couldn't sleep, couldn't keep still. Unbelievable pain. I decided to stop taking them and started taking some 30mg pills I had. Pain is starting to subside after 2 days. How can I have the 60mg pills examined to see if they are counterfeit? BTW, these were...

I got switched from the 30 mg Morphine ER to MS Contin 30 mg. Is there any difference in these two pills? And they switched my 15 mg Morphine ER to 15mg immediate release. Is there any difference between these two pills? If they are my insurance will pay for it. Please let me know. ## Hi Jeffrey - Technically speaking those two pills should contain the same dosage of Morphine (the active ingredient). While I don't have a picture to show you, the 30mg MS Contin Extended release should be round a purple with either the marking "M 30" or "PF M30" depending on which company labeled the prescription. As far as switching from 15 mg ER to immediate release, yes, there is a difference in that the immediate release should take effect more quickly but not last as long. Are you...

I have been taking oxycodone the 15mg and 30mg for a while. Then the pharmacy I use and other surrounding pharmacies did not have the medication. So my dr then switched me to the ms contin 60mg er. I took my first dose at 11:30 that morning. After taking that dose I got a euphoria feeling along with sweating and my body started to feel heavy. I was in the bed for the rest of the day. I got a headache as well. So as u can c that medication was not for me. Although I did not feel any pain (besides headache) it caused more problems than it cured. I was also prescribed the 15mg ir morphine sulfate for breakthru pain but that pill wasn't even needed. The 60mg er of the ms contin did not wear off until 12 hrs later. So to me ms contin is a good pain relieving drug as long as u don't h...

Are there any discount coupons you can download to get a more reasonable price for MS CONTIN 30mg.?? ## I have searched quite a few resources and I am sorry, but I am not finding anything, neither coupons nor assistance programs for this medication. This really doesn't surprise me, as it is very hard to find programs for most controlled substances. MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine, which is a narcotic analgesic and it is available as a generic. Have you talked to your pharmacy about purchasing the generic, rather than the name brand? As I remember from when I was on it, the price difference was substantial, the name brand was over $300 a month, but it was only around $100 for a month of the generic. Are there any other comments or questions? ## WALGREENS CARD PROGRA...

I have severe osteoporosis an current end plate fracture and 2 10/325 norco helped most of time but I was taking to much so they switched to diladid which didn't last more than two hours then switched to MS Contin 15 twice a day with Norco why through the MS Contin didn't do enough an was still taking to,much norco so they upped the MS Contin to 30mg twice day with only 4 norco a day for break through. Some day it work some days it doesn't it depends if I stay in bed or am up doing stuff. My question is I had gastric bypass an was always told not to take extended release an now they give it to me idk understand why. Also so days the MS Contin seems to help other days not so much I was wondering if my mal absorption impacts what I'm absorbing as far as the pain meds. Also...

if my dosage of MS Contin is 15mg, but I only have 30mg -can I cut it in half? ## No, dont cut them they are time released. please dont cut them. ## Ed - Took the words right out of my mouth ! Never cut in half or crush anything that is time released, people have actually died by getting a toxic level. It should be on your bottle of med as a warning-sometimes it might be in the medicine info-if not please call your pharmacy so they can be aware that they forgot such an important detail. It would be awful if it is not on there as there could be others that wouldn't know & it was a new med & only wanted to take half to see how their body reacted to it & might cause a sometimes fatal event. I am glad you asked before you took it. God Bless.Hope you feel better soon! ## The ...

1pill-2x daily 30mg ms contin & 4-10mg oxycodon is that better than 1new oc (op)30mg 2x daily &4-10mg oxycodone what is better ## The Oxycodone in the Oxycontin is stronger than the Morphine that's in MS Contin, by one and a half times, so it generally requires a lower dosage to achieve the same analgesic effect. I have been taking 60mg ms contin extended release 3 times a day + 30mg oxycodone immediate release 4 times a day. Recently my doctor changed the oxycodone to morphine 30mg immediate release. He also added lyrica 75 mg and I also take baclofen 10mg & amitriptyline 50mg in which i take 2. I'm still in constant pain. I was shot 8 yrs ago and I still hardly feel relief. What will help me? ## Hello, Shy! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so the dosages are not equivalent, which likely explains why you are in pain. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to the Lyrica, that may take 4 to 5 weeks, before it reaches ...

Which is stronger? My new insurance won't pay for oxycontin and substituted generic percoset but it doesn't seem to work as well. Is it my imagination? ## Hello, John! How are you? Oxycodone and Oxycontin are the same medication, Oxycontin is just a name brand for the time released version of it, so the 30mgs is stronger, it's just released slowly over an 8 hour period, as compared to the regular release that is released all at once. The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. You may want to ask our doctor about possibly trying MS Contin, it is a time released formulation of Morphine that is also available as a generic, so most insura...

I took a 50mg Tramadol this morning and it's not working. How long after can I take my 30mg MS Contin? ## If they have both been prescribed for you, you can follow your doctor's normal dosing instructions. My best friend, who introduced me to her surgeon that performed my 360 fusion, was recently forced to return to PM due to pain from numerous back problems including but not limited to Bone spurs, bulging discs, curvature of the spine and more..., Her PM clinic is about an hour away from mine. Anyhow, he had her on Oxycodone 15 MG IR 4 times a day and he recently added Oxycontin 30mg ER twice a day due to her not having much relief from just the 15 mg pills. It made all the difference in her level of pain and I had my friend back :) When she went to fill at the pharmacy (CVS) she has always used due to them being next door to the clinic, she was told she would have to go to a pharmacy in her county (next exit down) as could no longer fill for her out of county (we are in TN and first we ...

The doctor is 45mg ms contin twice a day. What is the equal dosage in oxycodone ## Hello, Veteran! How are you? You'd need only 30mgs of Oxycodone for each 45mgs of Morphine that you take. The time released formulation of Oxycodone is called Oxycontin. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?
