I have been prescribed Purbac for MRSA for 5 months. Some docs say NO, and propose Clindamycin. I don't need to develop any horrific side effects - have 1 kidney. ## Actually, MRSA is also known to be susceptible to Sulfa antibiotics, such as the Purbac, which contains Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, it is also commonly prescribed under the brand name Bactrim. There are several antibiotics that your doctor can use for this and this is also an appropriate choice. It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, skin rash and diarrhea. I am wondering what is the best antibiotic to fight MRSA or a Staph infection? I went to the hospital last night because I had a spot that started out as an ingrown hair and has become repulsive. The doctor wouldn't specifically tell me what it was so I'm not exactly sure what it is. Did some research and I think it is either Staph or MRSA. I am allergic to penicillian... So I was prescribed Bactrim DS 120mg. Just trying to figure out how well it fights infection because in one day it went from not really anything to worry about to scary! I have a hole in my leg today and yesterday it was just a red bump... So it kinda worries me. Need answers ASAP please! ## I would try colloidal silver 3 times a day. Saturate the area with the liquid. It is available at any vitamin retailer. I...

I have gotten MRSA four times in the last three years, with two surgeries. My questions are: why do I keep getting the infection, also around the same time of year as the previous years had mrsa. Also, I have been on and off pain killers (oxycodone 5 mg) for the last three years and I believe I have gained somewhat of a tolerance for them. I do understand that improper use of prescription drugs is a huge problem and doctors are hesitant to prescribe them. But why is it that if I have to pay a huge doctor bill (100,000.00 just for the hospital bill the first time I got it) and I'm in a lot of severe pain the doctor won't give me the necessary dose or quantity of pain medication I need to be comfortable? ## Hello, Stephen! is this used to cure mrsa ? what is a cure for mrsa ? is it france or germany you can get medication that cures mrsa? ## Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic, which is used to treat various types of infections and it is sometimes effective at treating MRSA. Since MRSA is known to be resistant to some specific antibiotics, others must be used to try to eradicate the infection. However, there is no way to say whether or not it will work and cure anyone. That is why MRSA is so problematic. As to what is available to be used in other countries, I am sorry, but I really don't have that information. Have you tried asking your doctor or a pharmacist? ## What medications should be avoided when taking Sulfameth/TMP DS Tab? ## Jean, there are actually far too many possible inte...

Haverecurringmrsastaphinfection, whataretreatmentoptions? ## Because MRSA infections can be so severe, treatment for MRSA skin infections may not only include having a healthcare professional drain the infection and prescribe an antibiotic, but also may include surgical or antimicrobial interventions. Do not attempt to treat an MRSA skin infection by yourself; doing so could worsen or spread it to others. This includes popping, draining, or using disinfectants on the area. If you think you might have an infection, cover the affected skin, wash your hands, and contact your healthcare provider. I would high recommend checking out the link below for more details on this: cdc.gov/mrsa/treatment My aunt had a severe MRSA infection and had to remain in the hospital for almost a week before the...

my baby at 8 days old was diagnosed with MRSA in his eyes. We've been on iv antibiotics and when he was sent home he was prescribed clindamycin in an oral form. 2 1/2 ML for 5 days. Well the MRSA returned shortly after we finished the 5 days. So he is back on it for 10 days. My question is we are using the same bottle of clindamycin that is now 2 weeks old. Do we need to get a prescription for a new bottle of clindamycin? As you know MRSA is a nightmare and very hard to get rid of. I want him to be getting the best medication he can get. ## Hello, Jessica! How is your son doing? Most liquid medications do expire fairly quickly, but there should be an expiration date on the bottle to be sure. Hi, I have been taking doxycycline for about a year to fight back chronic MRSA Staph infection in the femur (had several operations on leg so far). I am alergic to some other antibiotics and tried Septra and that gave me rashes. So I am kind of stuck with Doxy. A few months after I started taking Doxy I started developing what I thought at the time was general anxiety disorder as I would develop chest tightness/pressure and general nervousness which in turn would make it extremely difficult to concentrate at work and hard to hold up conversations with people. Sure I have some anxiety over bills, work, life, but nothing that I obsessively worry about. However, thinking my issue was anxiety I started taking anti-anxiety meds (BuSpar and Ativan) - I got off the Ativan about 3 weeks ago as ...

Used to treat MRSA ## To treat MRSA, Vancomycin or other antibiotics in the same class are used. Other options may include: Flucloxacillin, Erythromycin and Ciprofloxacin. I am not, however, finding any that start with an R. but it is possible that some doctors may use Rocephin, the active ingredient in Ceftriaxone, though it is not listed as being used to treat MRSA. i use it to treat MRSA. Clindamycin 150 mg. i am on my 5th day course now. But i forgot to take it on time. It´s just like two hours delayed. i should have take it 5pm but i remembered it 7pm already. Is there a big chance that i will be resistant/or the bacteria will be resistant to that antibiotic? what should i do? ## No, if the different was only 2 hours or so, there really shouldn't be any problem, at all. Even when being used to treat MRSA, antibiotics don't have to be taken at precisely the exact same time, the object is really just to keep them consistently in your body, so taking them a little later or earlier is fine.
