I was prescribed Moxif 400 for suffering from cough for over 8 weeks with no relief from other antibiotics and cough syrups, anti allergic tablets etc. However, within 30 mins of taking the first dose, I felt as if I have no strength to sit or move and my BP fell to 110/60 with pulse 49. I recovered in about 3-4 hours of rest but still the fatigue was present. I discontinued it after 1st tab - am not sure will it have any long term impact for incomplete dose? Is there any other alternative?

I recently had a sore throat, cold and fever. I found an old pack of my husband's Moxifloxacin 400 mg and on the first day I took two, on day 2, I took one dose. Then I looked up Moxifloxacin to make sure it was a bd dose, not od. Turns out the whole medicine was wrong. I felt dizzy a couple of times on both days. Should I stop takin it? Or continue once a day for 5 days?? ## Hello, Tans! How are you feeling? You should definitely consult your doctor, this is a very potent antibiotic that can cause some serious side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea, as reported by the FDA. It is never a good idea to try to self-diagnose and take a medication that has not been prescribed for you. Please allow your physician to prescribe an appropriate medication, if one is n...

moxifloxacin HCI ## i have an arrytmia should i take avelox ## Hi Maria, Avelox is a drug that can lead to many problems, including arrhythmia. Many heart arrhythmias are due to a decrease of magnesium in the body (even if your magnesium level tested by your doctor is normal). Unfortunately, the mechanism of action of many of the Avelox Side Effects is through a reduction in magnesium in the body. This could potentially lead to worsening of symptoms. You should carefully read about the side effects of these drugs and decide if the risk is worth treating the infection, or if it might be better to call your doctor, tell him about your concerns, and ask for an alternative to Levaquin to treat your infection.
