For over 10 years, I took 820 mg. morphine sulfate ER daily to manage chronic pain, trigeminal neuralgy and osteomyelitis in my jaw...(yes, I know that is spelled wrong, but don't want to take the time to look it up right now) Anyhow, about 1 1/2 years ago I started tapering myself off of it, one, because of the costs...astronomical, ridiculous, really..and for the last 6 months or so have been taking either 15/30 mg. regular release morphine every 4 hours. When I called my doctor to get an appt. for refills, the soonest appt. is 17 days away and I've only got about 1 week of medication left. I still have 200 mg. ER morphine left, but I don't want to accidentally overdose...do I still have a higher tolerance from being on it for so many years? ## Old mom The best and safest ...

Is this really good for my back? What else is it good for? What is the average price for a prescription to be filled? ## I can't really tell you if this will help you or not. Pain medications can affect everyone differently, whereas some people get great results from taking it, but there are others that it just doesn't work for. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to actually try it. To answer your other question, Morphine is a narcotic pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. I wouldn't suggest trying to use it for any other purpose outside of that. Did your doctor just give you a prescription for it without saying a word? ## I have stage 4 cancer I've been taking Vicodin 500 mg 6 times a day now I switch to 15 mg of morphine and I feel horrible don...

Need a pain Dr. in Pittsburgh PA.. been taking MS Contin for awhile and want to stay on my treatment plan. ## Hello, Criss! How are you? Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a specialist. General practice doctors will not be able to prescribe it for you. And if you go in asking for a specific medication, they will view that as being drug seeking behavior. You'll need to set up an appointment with a new doctor and let your medical records speak for themselves. Once they can see what has and hasn't worked for you in the past, as documented by a fellow physician, they will be more prone to prescribe accordingly. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be ha...

What is different between IR and ER? I want to take pill and go to sleep with dreadful migraine headache due to the weather. ## Hello, Laura! How are you? IR stands for immediate release and ER stands for extended release, so an IR medication is released immediately, as opposed to an ER, which is slowly released over a period of time. But you shouldn't take either one, unless your doctor has specifically prescribed them for you. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Learn more Morphine details here. Is there anything else I can help with?

Please send me a list of ingredients in Morphine /Sulfate ER 100mg tabs. Thank you ! ## This is a generic for Ms Contin and it is made by several companies, so I can't answer your question without knowing the specific manufacturer. Are there any markings on the tablets in question? If you post back with this information, I can then find the ingredient list for you. ## I got some meds that I was told was morphine sulfate ER 100 mg but I am a bit suspicious. I have looked (feels like it) at every morphine image. My pill is round , rusty/red colored with 323 on one side & what (to me) looks like a crescent on the other side. Can anyone help me to make sure I have what I'm supposed to please??? ## It is round with a rust/burnt orange in color and one side has the number 323 ...

I was on morphine sulf. Er 100mg tab. rhodes. Then I got switched to morphine sulf. 100mg er mylan. These upset my stomach why did they change my meds. Like that?.I have back pain, even had serg. The one made by rhodes worked just fine what can I do so my stomach doesn't get up set ? Thanks j.r. ## Hello, Steve! How are you? Since this is a generic medication, it is manufactured by several different companies and whichever one your pharmacy has in stock depends on which company was offering the cheapest price, at the time they needed to restock their supply. Thus, if you're taking a generic medication, you really have to just expect this to happen occasionally. As to it upsetting your stomach, it could be due to there being a different inactive ingredient in it. Have you consult...

is 15mg a strong dose of Morphine? I've been on hyrocodone /apap 5/50tab mck. ## after 3years of off/on again meds is 15mg enough to make a difference? It's once a day for 2 wks. ## I'm switching from hydrodone/apap 5/500 tab mck 1 tab every day as needed for pain ## 15mgs is not a really high dose, but is usually effective if you have never used Morphine before, since your body is not used to the medication. The only way to really find out if it will help you is to try it. Have you spoken to your doctor about your concerns? You may experience side effects such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Read more: ## TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN MY. P.C.P. I have been on kadian for 2 yrs now. 150mg twice a day, plus percocet10/325 for breakthrough. works pretty well. Now I have to switch to morphine sulfate er TABLETS. I will be taking 160 mgs twice per day. Have not taken yet so I don't know if they will work as good as the kadian. What I was also wondering if the morphine sulfate er CAPSULES work better than the morphine sulfate er TABLETS. anyone try both to see if there was any difference thank you ## What you're switching to is just a generic for Kadian, it still contains a time released formulation of Morphine. As to which one works better, when I was taking it, I never noticed a different between the tablets or the capsules, but what is true for me may not be true for you. You really need to try it for yourself and see what...

I just went to a new pain dr. For 8 years I was on OxyContin 30mg. My insurance wouldn't pay so I was switched to 30 mg ms continue er. This worked fine. All with 5/325 Hydrocodone up to 4 daily for breakthrough. Within the last four months the old Doctor switched to 30mg IRR without telling me why the change. I think just mixed up. Actually it worked basically the same with the breakthrough meds. Now new doc changed to MS Contin er generic with same amount of breakthrough melds. I haven't started yet but am worried it won't work as well. Help ## Since it is a lower dose, it may not manage your pain as well and you may also experience some withdrawal symptoms. As listed by the FDA, withdrawal symptoms may possibly include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills and diarrhea. Is the...

I have been taking morphine sulfate er blue tablets coated in ny. I moved to wisconsin and got my first script here for the same meds. Pharmacy gave me morphine sulfate 15mg sr. It's not coated. It appears to be a regular morphine tablet. I took one and feel nausea and sick. What's the difference or is there any? ## Hello, Karen! How are you? What are the markings on the new ones? That is the only way I'd be able to check the details for you. Can you please post back? But please keep in mind that not all time released tablets use a coating, there are several other methods they can use to control the release of the medication. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, diz...

I have just received two scripts, one is Morphine Sulfate IR 30 MG and the is Morphine Sulfate SR 30 MG tablets. It doesn't say which one is the slow releasing and which one isn't. Can you please help me with this? ## I'm happy to help you! IR stands for immediate release and the SR stands for sustained release, so the IR is the fast one and the SR is your time released formulation. You can learn more Morphine details here. Since Morphine is a narcotic, it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Verwon - Is correct. IR is Immediate Release and SR or ER is Sustained Release or Extended Release. As I am sure you are aware, MORPHINE; in any form, can become very addicti...

Has anyone out there taken this drug twice a day and had persistent nausea??? I thought I'd adjust to the nausea, but it's persistent. Anyone got any advice for me to help with this persistent nausea.? I'm also weak and sleepy. ## Hello Betty, According to the [1] NIH, nausea and vomiting is the most common side effect of this medication, greater than 10% of users who administered this medication experienced these adverse reactions. Good news is other users who have taken this medication say that it gets better with time, but the bad news is I couldn't find any medical documentation that states how long on average this time frame is. I feel like if you have these symptoms so often that it's become a problem for your way of life it would be best to discuss it with you...

Can you take Morphine Sulfate ER 15mg with Adderall? I'm scared as hell!... My Dr. pushed the Morphine on me over taking just Hydrocodone 10/325... & this concerns me :/ ## My doc insisted on switching me from 5-325 Norco to Morphine Sulfate as well, and it was the WORST thing that's happened to me, EVER. He felt that it was best to switch to the supposedly long-acting Morphine rather than increase my dose of Norco (I had been on the lowest possible dose of Norco--5-325--for about EIGHT years, so this would have been the very first dosage increase in all those years. It's certainly not like I had kept asking for more pills or bigger doses or anything but none the less, he felt it was better to switch to Morphine instead of slightly increasing the Norco.) Morphine is SUBS...

I have been sucessfully taking morphine sulfate ER 60mg manufactured by Mallinckrodt for chronic pain for awhile. I prefer it to other generics (Endo, for example). The pharmacy I've been going to has been kind enough to special order it for me but say that they can't continue to do so due to corporate restrictions with pharmaceutical distributors. As I mentioned, I prefer Mallinckrodt to other manufacturers of generic morphine sulfate ER. While I realize the main ingredients are exactly the same, other ingredients such as fillers and time release methods do vary quite a bit. I have been having quite a bit of difficulty finding pharmacies who carry Mallinckrodt MS ER 60mg at a reasonable price (that seems to vary widely, too). Why is this particular medication becoming so diffic...

I've been prescribed an extended-release version of morphine sulfate and I've released I'm not sure how the extended release works. I take one 15 mg pill per day. I guess I thought the extended release meant that I would be getting the benefit of 15 mg of pain relief all day long, at an given moment. But does the ER version simply take that 15 mg and divide it up over the space of 24 hours? 15 divided by 24...that would mean at any given hour, I'd only have 0.62 (less than a milligram) in my system, which is substantially less than 15 mg of relief in any given hour. Can anyone clarify this for me? ## Hello, Groa! How are you? Yes, the tablet contains 15mgs total of Morphine that is slowly released over time. However, generally, the constant release of even small amounts ...

I ran out of percocet 10mg for breakthrough pain due to insurance problems. The soonest I can get a refill will be in 2 days. I take Morphine Sulfate ER 30mg every 12 hours. My question is, how much additional morphine could I take over the next 2 days to compensate for not having the percocet for breakthrough pain. I sufer from chronic pain. ## Hello, Bob! How are you? How many Percocet do you take daily? It would best not to change your dose of Morphine, with your doctor's approval. However, without knowing your total dose of Percocet, I can't give you even a basic comparison to help. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipati...

I'm ceasing my use of 30 mg Morphine Sulfate ER twice daily due to concerns that it's increasing my disorganization and not helping my pain as much as Celebrex and maybe Cymbalta. My pain provider suggested what seemed to be a rapid decrease of plateaus of only a few days before each decrease. Instead I filled with 15 mg tablets and decreased more slowly, always decreasing the evening dose first. I'm now at one 15 mg in the morning only- this is the third day. The soles of my feet hurt (fibromyalgia pain), my calves, front of legs. I'm faintly nauseated, was unable to nap today because of restless legs when I had an impending migraine. The only previous effect during this entire decrease was after 7 days at 15 mg, bid, when I had a sensation of odors associated w/an unpl...

My insurance change thus my pm doc changed. He switched me from 100mg er morphine 3xday with 4 10/325 percocet daily and 2 350mg soma to up to 3 30mg ir morphine 4x daily only for pain. No breakthrough med and no muscle relaxer. Am I going to stiffer major wd?or is this captains with what I was taking? Been on for 5 years to build up to this amount, two failed back surgeries, constant pain and spasms, with some foot surgeries and other pain issues. Any advise will help I'm terrified of the wd my body is dependant plus need to be able to function, move around and take care of "life" as it happens ## How are you doing? That is definitely a lowering of your dosage, so you may experience some withdrawal symptoms, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, heada...

this pill is round shaped, peach/orange colored, with the letter M on one side and the letters MS 60 on the other side. ## I don't have a picture to post for you, but I can confirm that a tablet with the M MS60 marking that's described as round and peach colored does contain 60mgs of Morphine in a time released formulation.
