I was gols they are diffplease help ## Hello, Jeannie! How are you doing? Sorry about the problem that you're having. You mean they won't fill the 15mg Morphine IR and the 10mg Oxycodone IR? Yes, they would consider those to be equivalent, because they are both regular release and intended to treat breakthrough pain, so it's generally thought that both wouldn't be needed. Learn more Morphine details here. Learn more Oxycodone details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such...

my drug insurance co sugested i take this morphine in place of oxycodone 20 mg cr tab.. what is your impression of that??// ## Doesn't work for me. See if he will give you the IR oxycoxone for breakthrough pain. That should help.'that's an awful low dose of extended release morphine. Good luck! ## 30mgs of Morphine is equivalent to the 20mgs of Oxycodone that you were taking. However, it doesn't work as well for everyone, similar to Full of Heart, when I was on pain management and had to switch, due to my insurance no longer covering Oxycontin, it helped, but never worked quite as well as the Oxycontin did. They are both narcotics, so the side effects are very similar and may include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. Are there any other questions? ## I Want...

Is this really good for my back? What else is it good for? What is the average price for a prescription to be filled? ## I can't really tell you if this will help you or not. Pain medications can affect everyone differently, whereas some people get great results from taking it, but there are others that it just doesn't work for. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to actually try it. To answer your other question, Morphine is a narcotic pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. I wouldn't suggest trying to use it for any other purpose outside of that. Did your doctor just give you a prescription for it without saying a word? ## I have stage 4 cancer I've been taking Vicodin 500 mg 6 times a day now I switch to 15 mg of morphine and I feel horrible don...

I'm ceasing my use of 30 mg Morphine Sulfate ER twice daily due to concerns that it's increasing my disorganization and not helping my pain as much as Celebrex and maybe Cymbalta. My pain provider suggested what seemed to be a rapid decrease of plateaus of only a few days before each decrease. Instead I filled with 15 mg tablets and decreased more slowly, always decreasing the evening dose first. I'm now at one 15 mg in the morning only- this is the third day. The soles of my feet hurt (fibromyalgia pain), my calves, front of legs. I'm faintly nauseated, was unable to nap today because of restless legs when I had an impending migraine. The only previous effect during this entire decrease was after 7 days at 15 mg, bid, when I had a sensation of odors associated w/an unpl...

I have just received two scripts, one is Morphine Sulfate IR 30 MG and the is Morphine Sulfate SR 30 MG tablets. It doesn't say which one is the slow releasing and which one isn't. Can you please help me with this? ## I'm happy to help you! IR stands for immediate release and the SR stands for sustained release, so the IR is the fast one and the SR is your time released formulation. You can learn more Morphine details here. Since Morphine is a narcotic, it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Verwon - Is correct. IR is Immediate Release and SR or ER is Sustained Release or Extended Release. As I am sure you are aware, MORPHINE; in any form, can become very addicti...

Can one take morphine sulfate 30mg er with clonazepam 1mg at bedtime? ## Hello, Catrina! How are you? Taking both can cause more severe sedation, nausea, drowsiness and dizziness than usual, as reported by the FDA, so you should only do so, if your doctor approves. The FDA classified Morphine as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Clonazepam carries the risk of being habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with?

For over 10 years, I took 820 mg. morphine sulfate ER daily to manage chronic pain, trigeminal neuralgy and osteomyelitis in my jaw...(yes, I know that is spelled wrong, but don't want to take the time to look it up right now) Anyhow, about 1 1/2 years ago I started tapering myself off of it, one, because of the costs...astronomical, ridiculous, really..and for the last 6 months or so have been taking either 15/30 mg. regular release morphine every 4 hours. When I called my doctor to get an appt. for refills, the soonest appt. is 17 days away and I've only got about 1 week of medication left. I still have 200 mg. ER morphine left, but I don't want to accidentally overdose...do I still have a higher tolerance from being on it for so many years? ## Old mom The best and safest ...

I just went to a new pain dr. For 8 years I was on OxyContin 30mg. My insurance wouldn't pay so I was switched to 30 mg ms continue er. This worked fine. All with 5/325 Hydrocodone up to 4 daily for breakthrough. Within the last four months the old Doctor switched to 30mg IRR without telling me why the change. I think just mixed up. Actually it worked basically the same with the breakthrough meds. Now new doc changed to MS Contin er generic with same amount of breakthrough melds. I haven't started yet but am worried it won't work as well. Help ## Since it is a lower dose, it may not manage your pain as well and you may also experience some withdrawal symptoms. As listed by the FDA, withdrawal symptoms may possibly include nausea, dizziness, fever, chills and diarrhea. Is the...

My insurance change thus my pm doc changed. He switched me from 100mg er morphine 3xday with 4 10/325 percocet daily and 2 350mg soma to up to 3 30mg ir morphine 4x daily only for pain. No breakthrough med and no muscle relaxer. Am I going to stiffer major wd?or is this captains with what I was taking? Been on for 5 years to build up to this amount, two failed back surgeries, constant pain and spasms, with some foot surgeries and other pain issues. Any advise will help I'm terrified of the wd my body is dependant plus need to be able to function, move around and take care of "life" as it happens ## How are you doing? That is definitely a lowering of your dosage, so you may experience some withdrawal symptoms, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, heada...

morphine sulf er round tablet (green color) 30mg I usually get a laverder tablet from ethex, but now it is from endo and it is not working as well. ## My question is why does it work as well as the laverder ones I used to get? ## I met to ask why does'nt it work as well as the lavered morphine sulf er 30mg that I used to get Caues now I am getting the green Morphine Sulf er 30mg and they do not work hardly at all. ## its prob because the purple ones are extended release. also different morphine pills work different like the 60's and 100 don't work as good as the purple 30's do for me. its the fillers and whether they put they gel stuff in there or not ## I help test and have been using embeda 30 - 1.2 mg since it came on market. I accidentally bit into my morning dose of 30mg morphine sulf. Er at 7am.. it is going on 11:30am. Do I need to worry about overdose? ## Hello, Sunnydaze59! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? If it is the dose you normally, I doubt you'd experience much of a problem, unless you completely chewed up the tablet. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Getting more of it, at once, than you should may result in more severe side effects being experienced and overdose is possible, if you're not opiate tolerant. When unsure, it is always best to contact poison control, or your doctor. If you're able to bite ...

Doctor told me to half my 30 mg. MS-CONTIN but the package said this pill should not be split. It is a small mauve pill. I believe it is time-relased. ## Time released (also known as controlled release [CR], or extended release [ER]) generally should not be split because of how they are designed. Do the pills in question have any score marks on them? If they are scored then you should be able to split them. If not, then I would triple check with the pharmacy to get their opinion. When in doubt I'd stick with the instructions on the label. You might even want to get in touch with your doctor (if possible) and tell them that the package specifically states not to split the pill and ask them what they think. Hope this helps! ## Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I called the phar...

which is stronger morphine er 30 mg. tab. which im on now . was taking oxycodone 30mg did'nt seem to help went back to dr. he prescribed Hydromorphone 8 mg.tab. ohy god they did not seem to help the pain got worse so he put me on morphine sulf er they do not seem to help im thinking of asking for the oxycodone 30mg . back because of the pain and i don't know if that will help please help me to figure out which one is the strongest?? ## Hello, Daniel! How are you? To give you a comparison, Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so for each 30mgs of Oxycodone, you'd need 45mgs of Morphine to be equivalent. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and...

How long does morphine sulfate 15 mg ir last? I take 2 a day. I also take morphine sulfate 30 mg er 3 a day. I'm confused as to when I am supposed to take the morphine sulfate it. It only seems to last 4 hours and the morphine 30 mg er seems to last no more than 7 hours. I can only stand and bend for 10 minutes or less until I'm in excruciating pain. My pain Dr. Only sees me once every 6 month's. I've had a spinal fusion & fractured back and a fractured neck. ## The regular release, which you refer to as IR is usually taken every 8 hours, and the ER every 12 hours, but you should ultimately follow the prescribing instructions, because only a medical professional can help you decide what is safest and best for you. The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk o...

On my formulary list, it shows Morphine Sulfate bead, as a category of morphine available. I am currently taking morphine sulfate ER 30 mg., but the cost is $90 for a quantity of 90 pills (1 month supply). The Morphine Sulfate bead is shown with a cost of only $15 per month. What is the bead type of morphine and would this be an option for me to use instead of the ER type? ## It is just another time released formulation in a capsule, from what I can find. Are you currently taking tablets, or a name brand? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

I am currently taking 60mg of morphine sulfate ER twice a day and 30 mg of oxycodone HCL four times a day. For some reason I came up short one morphine on the last day of my prescription, so I only have one I can take instead of two until I get my new script tomorrow morning. Instead of taking the last morphine this morning, I waited and took it around 4pm tonight. Will I have withdrawl symptoms from missing a dose of Morphine, but continuing to take the oxycodone 30mg? ## If you didn't have any during the interim, where you didn't take it until much later, then no, you should be fine. However, if you do, they'd be mild and may include rebound pain, diarrhea, dizziness and fever, as listed by the FDA. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the ...

If not, what is the difference? ## ER is extended release. CR is controlled release ## I have been taking morphine sulfate 30 mg ER for 2 years and it just is not working for me anymore. I am taking morphine sulfate er 30mg tablets twice a day and also taking morphine sulfate imm rel 15mg once, sometimes twice a day. Finances won't allow me to get the morphine er at this time. Question: what is dosage of morphine imm per day without morphine er for 5 or 6 day until I can get the morphine er? ## They are both Morphine, so the dosage would be the same, however, the problem you are going to run into is that it is not going to last as long and since it is being released into your body much faster, this will potentiate the side effects, such as the nausea, dizziness and constipation that it can cause. Have you consulted with your doctor? You should really do so, before you try anything of this nature. It would probably work better for managing your pain to take a lower d...

i am now taking morphine sulfate 30 mg er tabs, and oxycodone 30 mg ir tabs morphine1 tablet every 8 hours and 1 tablet of oxycodone every 8 hours.but when waking up in the morning i have these terrible bad headache. i almost have to vomit. is that to happen? thanks sharon ## Hi Sharon, To answer your first question, Oxycodone is said to be approximately 1.5x as potent on a milligram to milligram basis. So for each 30mg Oxycodone, you'd need 45mgs of Morphine. However because everyone reacts to these medications differently, it's almost like comparing apples and bananas here. Regarding side effects, drug interactions state that "using morphine together with oxycodone may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also e...
