I take 145mg of methadone daily .my question is this.i just took 60mg of morphine will i feel it i do no other drugs. this is the first time ive used anything but methadone in 2 years ## Unfortunately, in any medical situation, a patient has to be their own best advocate. Doctors often prescribe medications according to their experience with how well something has worked for other patients. There really isn't a direct answer to your question, as no one can tell you how you would react to Morphine. Since medications can affect everyone differently, some people get great results from taking it, but there are others that it doesn't work for. I do know based on research that Methadone is considered to be 3-4 times stronger than oral Morphine (oxymorphone). And given the high dose of...

Apomorphine Drug Index

Apomorphine, sold under the brand name Apokyn among others, is a type of aporphine having activity as a non-selective dopamine agonist which activates both D2-like and, to a much lesser extent, D1-like receptors.[1] It also acts as an antagonist of 5-HT2 and α-adrenergic receptors with high affinity. The compound is historically a morphine decomposition product made by boiling morphine with concentrated acid, hence the -morphine suffix. Contrary to its name, apomorphine d...

Morphine 30 sulfate er made by Mylan does not help relieve pain does anyone else have that problem ## I too am finding morphine sulphate ER manufactured by Mylan is not as effective. Almost like going through early withdrawal symptoms, for example, morphine usually paralyzes intestinal movement and causes constipation. I am having cramping and looser stools. I question the correct amount contained in the tablets. ## Sorry to hear about your recent experiences. Medications can and often do affect everyone differently, whereas some people get great results, but there are others that it inevitably just doesn't work for no matter how much they take. However in the case of this particular drug, it seems the majority of people posting on here don't like Mylan's version of it. Addi...

I can't afford Avina co pay anymore. ## Might be able to offer you some help. I was on Avinza, and yes it is costly. I found few years ago a website or place to get my medicine and you can have an income. Go to www.FreeMedicine.com to request application. The good thing is can have income level of $80K and family of four. Some sponsors offer help for patients who can't afford their co-insurance fees. I was paying $5.00 for s/h to be delivered by Fedex or UPS. I suggest to check out website, they carry over 5,000 types of medicines. They do charge a fee for each medication. Last I checked it was $10.00 and if they cannot provid...

I have been taking 60 mg of morphine a day for about two weeks now. I want to stop completely but l cannot afford to go through withdrawals being that l have two jobs. Can you please tell me how to wean myself off? I really do not want to take them anymore l know l will just become more addicted to them. Can l cut my doseage down over a period of time until l stop completely? Please help! ## Hello, Natalie! How are you? Yes, a slow taper is usually best to minimize withdrawal symptoms, but you should follow your doctor's instructions for the best results. The FDA lists the typical withdrawal symptoms as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain, drowsiness and diarrhea. However, if you're taking the time released tablets, you can't actually cut them, because tha...

Can you tell me if I can drive while I am taking 2 x 20mgs morphine sulphate per day? ## Have you discussed this with your doctor or pharmacist? It really depends on how it affects you and your ability to drive. Morphine is a potent narcotic, so it can cause drowsiness, dizziness and euphoria, in some people, which could impair their ability to be safe behind the wheel. There are several posts on our site from people that thought they were fine, but got pulled over and fined, for being under the influence of certain medications, so you do need to be very cautious. You may also want to look into your DUI and DWI laws.

Can you take 100 milligrams of morphine in 2 hours later to take a xanax ## Hello, Tom! How are you? You can, as long as they have been prescribed for you. However, they both tend to increase sedation, so you may experience more dizziness and drowsiness than usual, as reported by the FDA. If you have existing medical conditions that affect your breathing, or heart, taking them together in high doses could be too much for you. People who are not tolerant may also experience overdose. The FDA also wants that both of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No that's about it, I appreciate it.

I am trying to get help with my meds. My $10,000 cap for the yr has reached its limit. I take morphine sulfate ir 30 mg. Please reply. Thank you ## I was in two head-on collisions that ruptured my back, vertebrae and my lower lumbar. I've been taking morphine sulfate instant release and morphine sulfate extended-release for at least 5 to 6 years. It works for me. What do I tell the doctor? ## To the original poster, what is your exact question? Are you saying you can no longer afford to get this medication? Have you informed your doctor? There might be assistance programs available to help you. While they are not common with generic medications, there may be some for name brands, but it is really going to depend on what your doctor thinks would be best for you. Can you post back wit...

I have morphine 30mg cr. I've just started taking them. The problem is that I feel dizzy or light headed. Can someone who takes these Please tell me if these side affects go away after a few days. I also take Oxycodone 5mgs Acetaminop 325mgs tab. L.Silas ## Yes, this is a normal side effect of most narcotic pain medications, you may also experience: nausea, drowsiness and constipation. It should wear off as your body gets used to the medication, if it does not, then please speak to your doctor. Read more: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Thank You for this info. It has been very helpful. L.Silas ## I insufflated a 30mg morphine extended release 4hours ago, I got a rash on my chest after 30 minutes then had a panic attack. Can I get hooked on these if i take 20 mgs per day for two months? ## To answer your question, yes, it is possible to get hooked that quickly, as Morphine is recognized as having a high potential for addiction. Tolerance and psychological dependence can develop rapidly, although physiological dependence may take several months to develop. Whether you have addictive behavior or not, I truly believe that your mind can overcome any addiction if you stay on top of how you feel and how it's affecting you while you're taking it on such a consistent basis. One way to do this is to keep a log or journal every week reporting any undesirable side effects, feelings, emotions (if you become more emotional) and what-have-you. Taking note of any changes in yourself really help put things into...

PLEASE HELP ME, I am so frustrated. I got a shock last week when I went to pick up my monthly prescribtion of morphine sulfate er 200 mg. I take 3 per day for my pain. I usally pay $225.00 for this rx well it jumped to over $1,000.00! I don't have insurance so I pay the cash price and have for over 5 years now for this medicine. I can't seem to find a replacement opiate that is time released the only one I found is oxycontin 60 mg. I get 90 pills every month. The price for the oxycontin is also over $1,000.00. What is going on with this increase? Does anyone have a suggestion on a medicine that is not so expensive? It does not have to be time released. Please help if you can. I am taking morphine sul 100 bid and lyrica 200 bid. ive been taking this for quit awhile but recently was increased to 100 from 75 and from 150 to 200 respectfully. The last two days I've been getting tightness in my chest and it feel hard to breath is this a side effect of the two and if so shouldn't of it showed when I started taking them together. I ve been on morphine for almost 2yrs at 75. and the lyrica was just started the end of last year it started at 50 and gone up since then. I have nerve pain in my neck and lowr back from 2 failed surgeries to releive pinched nerves in both areas. ## It could be a side effect that has been caused by the increase in dosages. Morphine is a narcotic and both it and the Lyrica can cause central nervous system depression, which can affec...

Is this really good for my back? What else is it good for? What is the average price for a prescription to be filled? ## I can't really tell you if this will help you or not. Pain medications can affect everyone differently, whereas some people get great results from taking it, but there are others that it just doesn't work for. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to actually try it. To answer your other question, Morphine is a narcotic pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain. I wouldn't suggest trying to use it for any other purpose outside of that. Did your doctor just give you a prescription for it without saying a word? ## I have stage 4 cancer I've been taking Vicodin 500 mg 6 times a day now I switch to 15 mg of morphine and I feel horrible don...

I had a very bad fall on Thurs. The emergency gave me1 shot of morphine .I cannot sleep.Having wierd thoughts at night, cannot sleep. Is this still due to the meds. ## No, any side effects from a shot given that many days ago wouldn't be lingering this long. However, it could very well be a slight form of post traumatic stress. It can happen, even with small events like this and most people never recognize it for what it is, because it doesn't last longer than a week or two. It really only gets noticed when it severely affects someone's quality of life and ability to function, which is usually when it's very severe and lasts for years. You may want to give it a little more time and see if it eases off and if it doesn't, then you should seek medical. attention. Anothe...

I am currently on morphine (one every 4-6 hours) for severe stomach pains until i can make an appointment for a scan. I get tired a lot, often makes me groggy and quite weak. Other symptoms i get with morphine are headaches and nausea. The tired part is normal due to the medication being very strong. ## Hello, Khloe! How are you? Yes, those can all be normal side effects of Morphine, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello Khloe, Narcotic medications have numerous different effects on people and they also vary how they affect those that take them. It sounds like you haven't taken those types of medications before, or at least not much at all. First off please make sure you're not doing...

I have been on and off 5-325 and 10-325 oxycodon for about 6 months now I was wondering how a 30mg morphine tablet would affect me I'm 110 pounds if that helps any. I'm afraid something could happen I've never taken it before and I wasn't sure if cutting them in half would work better? ## Hello, Sam! How are you? Oxycodone is one a half times stronger than Morphine, so you'd need 15mgs of it to equal each 10mgs of Oxycodone. Thus, 30mgs of it would be like taking 20mgs of Oxycodone, at once. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. It may be too strong for you, if you aren't opiate tolerant. What are ...

Dextromethorphan + Morphine Drug Index

Dextromethorphan, often referred to as DXM, is a medication most often used as a cough suppressant in over-the-counter cold and cough medicines. It is sold in syrup, tablet, spray, and lozenge forms. It is in the morphinan class of medications with sedative, dissociative, and stimulant properties (at lower doses). Dextromethorphan does not have a significant affinity for the mu-opioid receptor activity typical of morphinan compounds and exerts its therapeutic effects through several other rec...

Can i take 200 mg of elavil and 300mg of morphine together ## My findings state that there are some potentially unsafe interactions that apply to these two medications. Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Using Elavil (amitriptyline) together with Morphine may increase side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating. Some people may also experience some impairment in thinking and judgment. You should avoid or limit the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery until you know how the medications affect you. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doc...
