How many oxycodone 5-325 equals 1 morphine 15 mg? ## Hello, DJ! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you'd need 10mgs of it to equal each 15mgs of Morphine. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. However, that's not entirely accurate in this case, since the Acetaminophen augments the action of the Oxycodone. It may also differ further, if the Morphine in question is a time released formulation. Is it a generic for MS Contin, or a regular release? ## Vernon, Thank you for your reply. She is back on her morphine now so all is good! Thanks again!

I take these drugs and I am always sleepy. I also have MS, but I am tired about 3 hours after getting up. Why? Is this a possible side effect? ## It could be due to the medications, since they are all listed as causing drowsiness, dizziness, and sedation as side effects, according to FDA reports. However, according to the NIH symptoms list, it could also be due to your MS. Additionally, it might be a combination of all of the medications, as well as the MS. How are you doing, now? is there a difference between abg 15 and ms 15 morphine tablets? ## Hello, Erika! How are you? No, they have just been manufactured by different companies. i want to reduce dependence on pain meds (6 yrs. so my Doc ordered me morphine sulphate 10 mg capsules instead of the MS 15 mg ER. Insurance won't approve the change due to cost & now while the Doc & insurance are arguing about it I'm running out of MS tonite. Doc hasn't called back. I do have some 5/325 hydrocodone but not sure how much to take in lieu of the MS 15 ER. ## Have you had any luck, yet? I know how frustrating it is, when your insurance is controlling your treatment, rather than your doctor. I have several 15 mg tablets of MS Contin. They are 4+ years old. What is the shelf life of this medication? ## From what others have stated, Morphine has an expected shelf life of 2 years. However, there's actually a lot of conflicting information out there around the topic of expired medication. According to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. But t...
