I am currently taking 15 mg of morphine er twice daily and have been for 4 months now for chronic severe back pain. I have been noticing the last 2 weeks that it's not working as well. How many hours apart ## 1x evry 8 hours ## wife had terminal cancer,prescription :morphine sulf ir 30mg tab tab, mfg:ethex corp. direction on script take 1 to 3 tablets every four to six hours as needed ## Morphine should be taken in the exact way your doctor prescribed it to you. Everyone is different, and each person reacts differently to dosage and mg amount. If you did not recieve your prescription from an MD, I would watch out for overdose symtoms. If you start feeling: Drowsiness, pupils change in size, feeling confused, cold and clammy skin, weakened pulse, difficulty breathing, or fainting I would stop taking it right away. I have been on kadian for 2 yrs now. 150mg twice a day, plus percocet10/325 for breakthrough. works pretty well. Now I have to switch to morphine sulfate er TABLETS. I will be taking 160 mgs twice per day. Have not taken yet so I don't know if they will work as good as the kadian.
