Morphine Er To Opana

I have been on 15 mg opana er for 2 years. My appointment is in two hours to be put on morphine. They want to put me on 15 mg of that as well. I have a brain disease and suffer from chronic headaches and severe eye pressure. Is this even close to providing the same relief? And I also have epilepsy and if I go through withdrawals I can start to have seizures. How much morphine would it take to equal the 15 mg of opana ER? ## From what I've been reading Opana is fixing to be removed by the FDA because of abuse. Oxymorphone was around in the 1970's and was removed because of abuse. Although it remained in hospitals in inj. form since then and through today. I asked my pain management doctor about what I read about the FDA going to pull Opana and he said that it's more than like...

My Dr prescribed opana er 10 mg for pain. I was prescribed morphine sulfate er 60 mg and at one time was prescribed as much as 130 mg before i had surgery(gastric bypass which took a lot of pressure off of my back) and allowed me to lower my dosage. But since I've changed to Opana Er its just not enough for the pain. I don't sleep and if I do doze of I wake up from the pain. I'm desperate for help and think I need to be put back on morphine sulfate. My Gastric Dr instructed me to chew, crush or break my medications but with extended release you can't do that. Many pain management is almost greeting ready to send me to another state where they can treat me more efficiently. I can't afford to be going back and fourth to another state. I want to get my gastric Dr to app...

just wanted to know if there is a difference between the 2. I am perscribed morphine sulfate er 15 mg twice daily. My neck has been operated on a few times so i have severe pain daily. I forgot my pills at home over the weekend. My mother is perscribed Opana 10mg. She gave me one and it seemed to work better. Wanted to know if there is a difference between the 2. I am not sure how to go about asking my dr to switch me. Don't want her to freak about my mom giving me one of hers... ## Opana contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone and it is actually stronger than Morphine. So, the one 10mg tablet that you took was actually equal to taking 30mgs of the Morphine, at once. They are both narcotics, so the side effect profile is similar and can include: nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and ...

I ran out of Opana ER 40mg. I take 7 tabs at a time. That is 280mgs. I have Morphine Sulphate ER 200mg each. How do I do a conversion so I know how many Morphine Sulphate to take until I can get my script for Opana refilled? ## Wow! That's a very high dosage to be taking and I'm very sorry that you ran out. How did you run out? Is your doctor aware that you take that many at once? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I am just concerned, since that is such a large dosage and has the potential to be dangerous. Learn more Morphine details here. As to the conversion, Opana is stronger than Morphine, so you'd require 840mgs of the Morphine to be equal to the 280mgs of Opana, but it is a time released formulation, so you can't cut or split the tablets. And I also have t...

I am on 40mg of Opana and 15 mg ir morphine for 3 ruptured discs. . When I take the morphine it makes me tired. Is there an IR that will not make me groggy? ## Hello, Steven! How are you? Drowsiness is a possible side effect of all narcotics, it's really just a matter of trial an error to find one that works for you, without making you sleepy. Morphine did the same thing to me, when I was on it, I could barely ever stay awake. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Have you tried Oxycodone? It may work better for you.

is opana a mixture of morphine and oxycodone? i know that it is oxymorphone, but i don't know what that is and i am allergic to morphine. ## No, Oxymorphone is a complete, separate compound, it does not contain Morphine or Oxycodone. However, it is distantly related to Morphine and there is a warning about it being used in patients who are sensitive to or allergic to Morphine. While it is rare, some can be allergic to this, as well. Has your doctor prescribed it or suggested using it? Are they aware of your allergy? Learn more: ## I'm allergic to Morphine and I take 4 40MG Opana ER a day.I've been taking them for 4 months now and no reactions. ## I need a new strong pain killer, not the gradual release kind. I've been taking 8mg. Of Hydromorphone 3x a day for 4yrs. My Pa...

My 7 doctors agreed that I would have to be on pain meds the rest of my life after a auto accident in 1981, after more than 50 surgeries I was put on disability until I found a old doctor who help put back to the point I had a union of both bones mid shaft of Tibia & Fibula, plus 7 crushed disk, right rotator cuff that pops out & many other injuries. From 1981 until 1990 I was on just about ever form of pain meds the doctors said I needed. I was nuts by then, this was all military & VA doctors. I moved back home where I went searching for a good doctor that serve my home town as I live in the country. He sent me to many doctors & on Jan 2,2000 the team after test said no more T4, or any other medication but morphine sulfate, starting out with 15 mg er 3 x a day & as ...

I need to find a doctor in East TN that will write me my Opana ER 40's back or at least give me Morphine 100's back and will take Tn care Blue Cross/Blue Shield medicaid or cash. I have lots of back problems among other chronic pain issues and have extensive records to prove it all! If anyone knows of one around here or anywhere close to here i'll travel too, i'd really appreciate the info. I also need a psychiatrist that takes medicaid as well. I'm NOT a pill head! I honestly got pinned between two cars and it broke my back, herniated 4 discs in my lower spine and two in my neck, fractured both hips, dislocated my right knee and tore a ligament in my right ankle, so I've been in a LOT of pain these last two months since my pain doctor closed his office! i am on morphine sulphate and oxycodone the oxy helps the morphine doesnt is there an alternative to morpine ## There are many other narcotic pain medications on the market. The one most commonly used to replace Morphine, since it is more powerful and requires a much lower dosage is Opana, which contains the active ingredient Oxymorphone. You would have to consult your doctor, though, on what is safe to use with the Oxycodone. Have you consulted your doctor? You can learn more on the medication here: It is also available in a time released version, called Opana ER. ## an there be a reaction if I take 30 mg morphine sulfate and have a few drinks

Can ms contin 100mg be taken with opana er 20mg? ## Well MS Contin contains the active ingredient Morphine. Opana ER contains Oxymorphone. The Oxymorphine is much more powerful and only requires a fraction of the dose that was being taken of the Morphine. Both are time released. They also share the same side effect profiles: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I was on Opana about 8 years ago but it was at a time that I was still working. After a few days of taking it I started to get dizzy, sleepy and my computer monitor appeared wavy. I couldn't work like that so I asked to have my old meds back. I wish I had never done that cuz now I'm permanently disabled and cannot seem to get my doc to put me back on Opa...

I was on Opana 40 2 x daily plus 10 mg of oxymorphone hcl every 6 hrs. Since the recent changes, I have been switched to Arymo 60 2x daily and still take the 10 mg oxymorphone every 6 hrs. The Arymo does not seem to be working well. Is there something else that I can ask for that will help with the pain? I too am awake most of the night tossing and turning due to pain. The 10 of the oxymorphone does not seem to have the same effect that it used to when I first started taking it. I've been on these meds for approx. 5 years steady. Does the body just start to become immune to some meds? ## Arymo ER contains a time released form of Morphine, which is an opiate analgesic. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness,...

I have degenerative disc disease and have taken opana ir and er for a while. My doctor has changed me to morphine since opana has left the market temporarily. I do not like the morphine. Could someone out there recommend something comparable to opana er 40 and ir 20 ## Opana is actually back on the market, though still in limited quantities in some areas, so you may want to have your doctor's office check with your local pharmacies to see who has it in stock, so you can go back to it. It was actually just a temporary shortage, while they were reformulating the tablets to help prevent abuse. Are there any other questions or comments? ## The opana er with the new plastic coating does not work as it once did. It is very hard to digest. Why is so much plastic coating necessary...I am no...

Hello, I am 32 yrs old and have been on opana er 2 daily with an average of 5 vicoden daily for breakthrough pain management for 2 years now. I have the option of undergoing back surgery but no one is very optomistic that it will provide satisfactory pain relief. I am not big on taking pills but they do provide adequate relief. I am concerned about long term organ damage due to the medication since I have my whole life ahead of me. My grandfather was perscibed morphine for his cancer and experienced severe organ damage within a couple of years so I am concerned about taking drugs for rest of my life, especially since what I have read indicates that tolerances will build and doses will inevitably increase with time. Thanks everybody for your time, Ken. ## There is always the risk of orga...

My pain specialist had me on 40 mg Opana ER and 15 mg Morphine Sulfate IR for 8 years. I had to find another doctor and starting next week I will be taking 30 mg Oxymorphone ER every 12 hours and 10 mg Oxycodone IR up to 3 per day. I have been out of my break thru pain med for 2 days now and my pain level averages 9 to 10 every day so I have taken 5 mg valium, Tylenol #3 with codine and a baclofen to stop me from going into withdrawal. What else can I do until my insurance co. gives their OK, ## Re: "Is morphine stronger than oxycodone" - I feel that answers to this question may be highly opinionated according to each individual as well as several underlying factors, including but not limited to: the binders/fillers in each respective tablet that may affect bioavailability; gene...

I was wondering I had a pill I know it was morhine. it was an oblong blue shape and color. It has been awhile I'm a chronic pain patient and I cannot take the newoxy op's I took 80mg 3x a day for along time. If any body knows the difference between just the regular morphine and the er opana ect. let me know the ms-contin did not work at all. Also the hydromorphone what is the differences in those meds? I know that is alot of info I just need to knoww. So if you know any of it let me know. THANKS ## If the Morphine ER didn't work for you, then it makes sense that the MS Contin also didn't, because they are both time released Morphine tablets. Opana contains a different narcotic, it is called Hydromorphone, it is very powerful and has helped many people with chronic pain i...

My Dr has given me the option to switch from Opana ER 45mg to msCottin ER! How many MG of MSCottin ER will it take to equale the Opana ER 45mg?? ## Hello, Sharon! How are you? Opana is actually much stronger than Morphine, so you'd need 135mgs of the MS Contin to equal each 45mgs of the Opana. That's quite a lot to take. Is the Opana no longer working for you? This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Oxycontin or Fentanyl might be better options. ## Thank you for the information. It's helped a lot! I am switching medications because of several different stomach problems I have. I was in a severe accident in 2006 that caused many spinal fractures, herniated disks, and severe damage to my right knee. I've been seeing a pain management doctor who has prescribed me Opana 40 & 20mg. ER's to be taken every 12 hours. He also prescribes me Mobic for joint pain. The Opana does help with my spinal injuries, but doesn't seem to help my knee pain at all. The Mobic isn't working either. Should the Opana be helping me with my knee pain at all? I have been prescribed just about all of the available opiate medications including; oxycontin, methadone, the Duragesic fentynil patch, morphine, and nothing seems to be working. Is there anything available that would help my knee pain short of knee replacement surgery? Any information would be greatly appreciated...
