I'm new to MSIR ER 60mg and 30mg 4 x's per day for breakthrough pain and 3 x's a day on ER. Is this too much? ## The extend release is normally taken twice a day. If you haven't been taking Morphine what you stated is too much. FDA guidelines state a patient isn't suppose to be prescribed more than 120 mg Morphine a day.

will crushing the pill give me better relief? ## ER pills are not to be crushed ## Crushing them is a very dangerous practice, you could get too much of the narcotic at once and overdose yourself. These are time released for a reason. If you are having trouble with adequate pain relief, then please speak to your doctor. I was on these for several years for pain management and they are a very strong medication. I do have to say, however, there are some types of pain that they should not be used for, what condition are you taking them for? ## If you are taking an antibiotic for Azitmonuycin can you crush them & drink with juice ?

I'm on Morphine sulf 60mg ER 1 table every 12 hours plus Fentora 400 MCG Buccal tablet 1 every 6 hours. I'm ran out of the Morphine Sulf and none of the farmacy have it on stock. Now I'm with a lot of pain, I think because I'm getting the morphine out of my system, but I do have at home Oxycodone 15 MG. Do you know if I can substitute the morphine for the Oxycodone safely until I get the Morphine back within 2 days. Also if I take the Oxycodone can I still take the Fentora safely. I will not take it together, but like I take Oxycodone now and within one hour it's the time for Fentora. ## Hi, Santa! Sorry about the problem that you're having finding your medication. And yes, a sudden withdrawal from the Morphine can cause a rebound effect, which could cause worse p...

Is this pill morphine er 60mg? I can not find this orange pill that is imprinted N60. It has not showed up as morphine er 60mg in this color. ## I talked to our pharmacy today and she showed me the bottle they came in. There is another n60 imprinted pill for the heart. It is not shown to be orange either. How can two pills for different problems have the same imprint? It worries me since my husband is already on heart meds. ## Hello, Joy! How are you? That is because the orange pill with N 60 imprint is from Canada, it is not available in the U.S. It is listed by Teva Pharmaceuticals as containing 60mgs of Morphine in a time released formulation. The U.S. FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth,...

Is morphine 60mg Er perscribed every 8 hours? ## Hello, Taylor! How are you? No, this is a time released formulation that is usually prescribed to be taken every 12 hours (NDC 0591-3513). My boyfriend is perscribed morphine sulfate extended release, and he is currently getting thees oblong ones (e655/60). In the bottle he found one that was just a 1/2. They are skinny and kinda soft so easily broken on accident. In the past he has gotten the wax-coated ones, and said the ER part is in the coating. In these, however, there is no coating. In a broken one- is the ER part also messed up, or is the ER mixed into the whole pill? Wanting to know if taking 1/2 of these is simply 30mg ER instead of 60mg ER. ## Hello, Ashley! How are you? No, it is not safe to take a broken tablet, because that can defeat the timed released formulation and may result in overdose. That said, he should take it to his pharmacy and tell him, they may replace it for him. I've had this happen before...

round,peach/orange...60mg, morphine sulfate...the other side has an m encircled with a square box ## these make me vomit about 2 hours after I ingest them sooner if I have food in my stomach> Is there anything I can take to stop this like prilosec ## Prilosec will usually not help prevent the nausea caused by narcotic pain medications. You need something that can actually help with nausea, such as something containing Diphenhydramine. I don't suggest using anything, though, without consulting with your doctor or pharmacist first, as certain medications may react badly with Morphine and/or enhance the side effects. Morphine is a very strong narcotic pain reliever. Along with the nausea, some of the other common side effects include: drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation and dizzine...

How long does ER 60 mg morphine give pain relief per dose? ## Hi, Jane! How are you? These are designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours, so they are normally prescribed to be taken twice daily. However, some people do find that they don't get as much pain relief after about 10 hours, or so. Learn more MS Contin details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## how often should you take 60mg morphine tablets? this pill is round shaped, peach/orange colored, with the letter M on one side and the letters MS 60 on the other side. ## I don't have a picture to post for you, but I can confirm that a tablet with the M MS60 marking that's described as round and peach colored does contain 60mgs of Morphine in a time released formulation. I know the 30mg instant release is cheap. can get 240 for a cost of $23.00 with my insurance plan where as the 60mg extended release the cost went up to 351.00 for 180 pills thru my insurance plan. i saw where the new price next year will be almost $1000.00. ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? The price could go either way next year, there's no way anyone can definitively say that it will or will not go up that much next year. IT all depends on supply and demand, the same forces that drive the prices on all other markets. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any other questions or concerns?

I have been using ER 60 mg morphine sulfate x 2 daily with other meds. No one has this medicine in Tampa area and being legally blind I have no way to go to 50 pharmacies to locate because they won't tell you on the phone. Is there something equal that I can get my Dr to RX? I am running out of other medicines, need help. ## Have you ever tried Oxycontin? It's a time released formulation of Oxycodone, which is a very potent narcotic and it's also stronger than the Morphine, so you'd even require a lower dose, you'd only need 40mgs of it to equal each 60mg dosage of Morphine. Learn more Oxycodone details here. Since it is also a narcotic, it may be habit forming and can cause similar side effects to those of the Morphine, which may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth...

I have been sucessfully taking morphine sulfate ER 60mg manufactured by Mallinckrodt for chronic pain for awhile. I prefer it to other generics (Endo, for example). The pharmacy I've been going to has been kind enough to special order it for me but say that they can't continue to do so due to corporate restrictions with pharmaceutical distributors. As I mentioned, I prefer Mallinckrodt to other manufacturers of generic morphine sulfate ER. While I realize the main ingredients are exactly the same, other ingredients such as fillers and time release methods do vary quite a bit. I have been having quite a bit of difficulty finding pharmacies who carry Mallinckrodt MS ER 60mg at a reasonable price (that seems to vary widely, too). Why is this particular medication becoming so diffic...

Is it safe to take a 60mg morphine and 500 mg cephalexin pill together? What are the side effects? ## Hello, Joanna! How are you? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, but you should double check with your doctor or pharmacist to be certain. How many 4mg hydromorphone do I have to take to match what I was taking (morphine 60mg every 8hrs plus 15mg every 4hrs)? ## The truth is there really are no precise equivalencies between different pain medications. Trial and error is the only way to find a dosage of remotely similar efficacy for your unique body chemistry, tolerance and level of pain. The presence of various binders and fillers also complicate matters from tablet to tablet, in that they may affect bioavailability or how well your body absorbs the active ingredient(s) that these excipients are mixed with. The half-life of each respective drug should also be taken into consideration... Having said this, it's probably best that you work closely with a pain management specialist to determine what works and what doesn...

I have been taking oxycodone the 15mg and 30mg for a while. Then the pharmacy I use and other surrounding pharmacies did not have the medication. So my dr then switched me to the ms contin 60mg er. I took my first dose at 11:30 that morning. After taking that dose I got a euphoria feeling along with sweating and my body started to feel heavy. I was in the bed for the rest of the day. I got a headache as well. So as u can c that medication was not for me. Although I did not feel any pain (besides headache) it caused more problems than it cured. I was also prescribed the 15mg ir morphine sulfate for breakthru pain but that pill wasn't even needed. The 60mg er of the ms contin did not wear off until 12 hrs later. So to me ms contin is a good pain relieving drug as long as u don't h...

What is equal in mgs? I have been prescribed a 60 mg. of OxyCotin ER. Now the dr. is suggesting I use 30 mgs. of Morphine Sul ER. Can you give me the mgs. that equals the 60 mg.OxyCotin ER . What would the mg. difference be to get the same pain relieving results? It's not the dr.; it's the drug plan I have that is now demanding this be changed. Awaiting your comments! Eva ## Hello, Eva! How are you? Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you'd actually need 90mgs of the Morphine to equal the same analgesic effect of 60mgs of Oxycontin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
