i have to change from Avinza 90mg. to M S contin 30mg3x/day or Oramorph 30 mg 3x/day I dont know which to go to as the generic version will cost the same. I can't afford Avina co pay anymore. ## Might be able to offer you some help. I was on Avinza, and yes it is costly. I found few years ago a website or place to get my medicine and you can have an income. Go to www.FreeMedicine.com to request application. The good thing is can have income level of $80K and family of four. Some sponsors offer help for patients who can't afford their co-insurance fees. I was paying $5.00 for s/h to be delivered by Fedex or UPS. I suggest to check out website, they carry over 5,000 types of medicines. They do charge a fee for each medication. Last I checked it was $10.00 and if they cannot provid...

I am a cronic pain patient. I have been taking Morphine ER 100mg for about 2 years. The price on my pills just doubles at my local pharmacy, My Dr is very open to recommendations, Can anyone recommend an alternative drug with the same pain killing potency with a lower cost. He had prescribed my Oxycontin, but the price at the pharmave was going to be about $700 per month out of pocket for me. The Morphine ER 100MG (qty 90, 3 per day) had been costing me $97 with my drug discount card, today when my wife refilled, they charged $190. When I called about it they said that the retail price of the pills had gone up. ## I have run into the same problem this month. My insurance will only pay for Morphine immediate release, and nothing else. If you find anything that might help both of us, I wo...

mfg rho as a pain killer about useless norco works much better cost less that 10/325 of hydrocodone apap tabs by watson labs generic. ## Are you saying the Morphine didn't work for you? It is normal for some people to respond better to one medication, than another. That is why they are usually quite a few options in any medication category. ## That what I,m saying it don't work for me. I got something off the net that works very well called painazol. Not a drug homeopatic I thought I waste my money but it works! Ihave a spine full of arthrtis plus three bad L's. I get hot shot in the lower back and the hydrocode now I can walk without pain for the frist time in years with this combo. walk not much else , but that all good

For over 10 years, I took 820 mg. morphine sulfate ER daily to manage chronic pain, trigeminal neuralgy and osteomyelitis in my jaw...(yes, I know that is spelled wrong, but don't want to take the time to look it up right now) Anyhow, about 1 1/2 years ago I started tapering myself off of it, one, because of the costs...astronomical, ridiculous, really..and for the last 6 months or so have been taking either 15/30 mg. regular release morphine every 4 hours. When I called my doctor to get an appt. for refills, the soonest appt. is 17 days away and I've only got about 1 week of medication left. I still have 200 mg. ER morphine left, but I don't want to accidentally overdose...do I still have a higher tolerance from being on it for so many years? ## Old mom The best and safest ...

On my formulary list, it shows Morphine Sulfate bead, as a category of morphine available. I am currently taking morphine sulfate ER 30 mg., but the cost is $90 for a quantity of 90 pills (1 month supply). The Morphine Sulfate bead is shown with a cost of only $15 per month. What is the bead type of morphine and would this be an option for me to use instead of the ER type? ## It is just another time released formulation in a capsule, from what I can find. Are you currently taking tablets, or a name brand? The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.

I have taken off-green color *generic morphine 30mg e.R for a number of years with good results / 4 chronic pain. Now pharmacy is giving me morphine tab - 30mg e.R made by a lab called *mallinkrt. Taking it does bother my stomach, and does not last as e.R should. Seems alot of this stuff being substituted at pharmacies. Twice I've been given this made by mallinkrt lab and it doesnt work. Anyone else having this trouble? ## I have problems with MSContin but that is quick release. They decided to put me on 15 mg KADIAN which is lon lasting as in time release all day- hour. I take it 3x'x a day. No problems but its not generic and costs me 50.00 each script. The morphine is supposed to also extend the life of percocet which I take 4 times a day with 3 of them being taken with the k...

i want to reduce dependence on pain meds (6 yrs. so my Doc ordered me morphine sulphate 10 mg capsules instead of the MS 15 mg ER. Insurance won't approve the change due to cost & now while the Doc & insurance are arguing about it I'm running out of MS tonite. Doc hasn't called back. I do have some 5/325 hydrocodone but not sure how much to take in lieu of the MS 15 ER. ## Have you had any luck, yet? I know how frustrating it is, when your insurance is controlling your treatment, rather than your doctor. I recently was switched from 15mg IR to 7.5m gIR, I also take one 15mg CR every 12 hours. I neglegted to ask how much of a difference the 7. would be as opposed to the 15mg IR. I have fibromyalgia, costrocondritus, neck and back anomlies, fractured S1/T2 and the sacrum is cracked. The discs in between; one bulging, one flat and leaking into the siatic nerve. I also have panic disorder (take 5mg Diazepam 3x per bid). Robaxin, 150mg 4x daily, Zoloft 50mg per day. Ompemrazole/ranitidine 1, 2x per day. All from an MVA/2 slip & falls. ## Well, it is half the dose you were taking, so it probably won't give you as much pain control. Learn more Morphine details here. I know the 30mg instant release is cheap. can get 240 for a cost of $23.00 with my insurance plan where as the 60mg extended release the cost went up to 351.00 for 180 pills thru my insurance plan. i saw where the new price next year will be almost $1000.00. ## Hello, Pamela! How are you? The price could go either way next year, there's no way anyone can definitively say that it will or will not go up that much next year. IT all depends on supply and demand, the same forces that drive the prices on all other markets. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Are there any other questions or concerns?

Anybody who has knowledge pl3ase chime in....no lectures please. Currently taking 4-60mg morphine er a day plus 8-10mg oxy a day. My questions are this. Doc wants to change me to zohydro. Vicodin has NEVER worked in past is zohydro gonna help? What is equivalent to 4-60mg morphs a day??? Lastly what is avg per tab cost??? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? To be honest, it is doubtful that the Zohydro will help you, if Vicodin didn't. Zohydro is just Hydrocodone without the Acetaminophen. It is also converts 1 for 1 with Morphine, so you'd need 60mgs of it for each 60mgs of Morphine that you were taking to be therapeutically equivalent. The FDA classifies these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as n...

I don't take suboxone on a regular basis. I took a quarter dose of suboxone today. When can i take my other pain medication? ## You'll need to wait about 72 hours, otherwise the Suboxone will just block the effect of the Morphine. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Does that count if you have been taking it for u months too? Been in subutex for 7 months for pain management and I can't afford it so I'm going back to my percocet 7.5s. Any advice verwon? It cost me about 500 a month for my subs. It's my understanding that the manufacturers started making ER (extended-release) tablets that have micro encapsulated beads within the pill that prevent the over release of medication. The reason they did that was due to the trend of chopping the pills into powder and insufflating it recreationally, which can be lethal. ## I agree with your logic, especially due to the widespread stance big pharma has taken against drug abusers. A number of other pain medications (such as Oxycodone) have also undergone their own unique preventative measures in recent years. Although I suppose another reason provoking such change might be for cutting manufacturing costs, as they tend to do so frequently all across the board. Do you know if these new extended release tablets are still in "tablet-...

I'm needing to stop taking Kadian as it's too expensive. Does anyone know the cost of 80 mg Oramorph per month taking one every 12 hours? 60 pill per 30 days. ## I don't think anyone can give you a specific answer, unless you post exactly where you are and what pharmacy you want to buy them at. It is going to vary from area to area around the country. Some prices may be pretty close, but it would still only be a guess. Oramorph is another name brand of Morphine, so it is also liable to be expensive. Have you considered asking your doctor or pharmacist for the generics? There are generic versions of time released Morphine that are much cheaper. ## alphapharm provides an indigent med program for Kadian i get mine for free it cost me 18 dollars to overnight it and 3 days later ...

My mother in law has cancer and will die from it, the cancer has been eating at her bones, the doctor has prescribed her the Oxycontin 20mg but her insurance does not cover it and the pharmacy wants $300 for 2.5 days or I guess pills, that's crazy. Until she gets approved for Medicaid we need to find some cheaper place to fill a prescription for it. Does anyone know where we could buy it cheaper with the prescription? ## Actually, what I'd suggest is asking about getting MS Contin prescribed for her, instead of the Oxycontin. It's a time released formulation of Morphine, but it is available as a generic, so it's much cheaper, even if her insurance doesn't cover it. Learn more Morphine details here. mom of three and been an addict for 20years. did not use while pregnant but now I have lost control of everything. I have no extra money. I get my morphine and oxy free from my job. I'm not a nurse but I work with not so ethical ones. I can't get suboxone because of cost. I need to stop before I kill myself. I've tried cold turkey 7 times. I'm such a weak person I guess. My question concerns drug conversion. The Fentanyl works well, most of time, for my chronic pain, but my insurance now says I can only get it again in March of 2015. This is still Oct., 2014, so I will be out of patches at end of October. I don't understand this, because just stopping the patches would/will cause terrible withdrawal, because if you are only couple days late, withdrawal starts. This happened also recently as my dr. changed (at my request to try something else)100 mcg. patch to only 15 mg. of morphine ER every 12 hours, because of patches costing almost $400 for one month, which I cannot afford, due to "doughnut hole". The change made be very sick within two days, so I had to go back to patches. I didn't think the 15 mg. extended release morphine was enoug...

WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT TWHY THIS DRUG IS SO EXPENSIVE I HAVE AN INFUSION PUMP AND THE COST IS PHENOMANAL TO REFIL IT. ## Most drugs are very expensive, especially opiate pain relievers. This is a very, very strong one, fentanyl is 80 times stronger than Morphine, and this one is 5 to 10 times more potent than fentanyl, depending on the prescribed dosage, so you can see this is a very potent pain med, prices rise with higher dosages and higher potency medications, very normal in the pharmaceutical industry.

Im want to kick my opiate addiction! I want to know how much suboxone will i need to take a day? Does it really work? How much does it cost?...etc... Ive been taking opiates for 10 years but only everyday for the past 4 years. I take 100mg-150mg of morphine or 20-30mg of methadone a day. I tried to quit cold turkey by slowly weaning myself down for about 2 weeks to nothing. What a mistake that was, even after 7 days of not taking anything i was just as sick as i was on day 1. I thought about getting on the methadone clinic but its too much of a hassle for me. I also dont want anyone to know about my addition, kinda hard to do when you need to go to the clinic everyday.
