I'm new to MSIR ER 60mg and 30mg 4 x's per day for breakthrough pain and 3 x's a day on ER. Is this too much? ## The extend release is normally taken twice a day. If you haven't been taking Morphine what you stated is too much. FDA guidelines state a patient isn't suppose to be prescribed more than 120 mg Morphine a day.

How are you doing? Has there been any change? According to the NIH conversion information for opiates, Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, thus, being switched from 30mgs Oxycodone to 30mgs of Morphine was actually lowering your dose, so it is unsurprising that you are still in pain. The FDA warns that narcotic medications carry th...

this pill is round shaped, peach/orange colored, with the letter M on one side and the letters MS 60 on the other side. ## I don't have a picture to post for you, but I can confirm that a tablet with the M MS60 marking that's described as round and peach colored does contain 60mgs of Morphine in a time released formulation. Learn more Morphine details here. Where was it found? ## Is there a company making Morphine 60mg round pills which are orange in color but this orange isn't a coating that's normally found with Morphine 60mg pills. How long does ER 60 mg morphine give pain relief per dose? ## Hi, Jane! How are you? These are designed to slowly release the medication over a period of 12 hours, so they are normally prescribed to be taken twice daily. However, some people do find that they don't get as much pain relief after about 10 hours, or so. Learn more MS Contin details here. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## how often should you take 60mg morphine tablets? Its been at least eleven hours so is it OK to take another one? ## I take 1 60mg @ 5am and again at 4-5pm of Morphine Sulfate ER. I have been taking ms 60mg for six months. first i received a light tanish round waxy pill with a coating. then 3 months ago i received the same but burnt orange in color. same markings abg and 60. the pharmacy told me that the manufacturer had switched to a different color. idk why, but half of my script was tan and the other orange. 2 months ago i received only orange ones. and then last month i received oblong orange ones marked e655 and 60. these are more chalky and do not have wax. they ARE the same thing only different binders. If you prefer the ones with e655 ask your pharmacist for the ones made by ENDO Labs. ## It is completely normal for your pharmacy to switch what generic medication they provide, at any given time, depending on which manufacturer was offering the cheapest pr...

I really need some advice here. I am a cancer patient with a rare tumor. I have taken OxyContin 60MG and OxyCodone 5MG for breakthrough for over 10 years. My DR and I agree it is time to try other medications as I need more pain relief. I do not yet know how many MG he will prescribe for any of these medications. I realize that it would be easier to help answer my questions but any input in general I appreciate. He has given me 3 different meds to choose from: Ms Contin , Morphine & Methadone. Hoping to get others opinions on these. Whether it's regarding pain relief, side effects, etc. Whether it's just about the medication or about in comparison to my current pain meds. I think he will keep me on the 5mg Oxycodone for breakthroughs ( although not positive. ) ANY and ALL th...

I have been taking oxycodone the 15mg and 30mg for a while. Then the pharmacy I use and other surrounding pharmacies did not have the medication. So my dr then switched me to the ms contin 60mg er. I took my first dose at 11:30 that morning. After taking that dose I got a euphoria feeling along with sweating and my body started to feel heavy. I was in the bed for the rest of the day. I got a headache as well. So as u can c that medication was not for me. Although I did not feel any pain (besides headache) it caused more problems than it cured. I was also prescribed the 15mg ir morphine sulfate for breakthru pain but that pill wasn't even needed. The 60mg er of the ms contin did not wear off until 12 hrs later. So to me ms contin is a good pain relieving drug as long as u don't h...

I'm 120lbs, can I take 60mg of MS Contin ## Hello, Kaye! How are you? Has your doctor prescribed it for you? It can vary from person to person depending on your tolerance to opiates. This dose may be too much for some people, but not for others, if they are used to taking it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Kaye, if you're uncomfortable with taking that much, ask your dr to give you a lower dose for a few weeks and see how it does. If you haven't taken MS Contin or Morphine before, it may make you sleepy or put you to sleep, so take it when you don't have to be alert or awake for a while.

I have been sucessfully taking morphine sulfate ER 60mg manufactured by Mallinckrodt for chronic pain for awhile. I prefer it to other generics (Endo, for example). The pharmacy I've been going to has been kind enough to special order it for me but say that they can't continue to do so due to corporate restrictions with pharmaceutical distributors. As I mentioned, I prefer Mallinckrodt to other manufacturers of generic morphine sulfate ER. While I realize the main ingredients are exactly the same, other ingredients such as fillers and time release methods do vary quite a bit. I have been having quite a bit of difficulty finding pharmacies who carry Mallinckrodt MS ER 60mg at a reasonable price (that seems to vary widely, too). Why is this particular medication becoming so diffic...

Doesn't he need it to work 24 hours straight? ## The orange, oval tablet with the marking 60 E655 contains 60mgs of Morphine in a controlled release formulation, it is a generic for MS Contin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it may be habit forming and could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and constipation. The M-Eslon is just another name brand for Morphine. little round orange pill 60 on one side and abg on the other found in sons car ## I hope you did not read and believe the prior incorrect answer that was posted. This pill is DEFINITELY morphine 60mgs, an extended release version, a generic for MS Contin. I don't even have to look this one up to check what it is, because I suffer a chronic pain condition and I have a whole bottle of these right here in my hand. So it is definitely morphine and not any type of Valium or benzodiazepine.

I I believe they're morphine sulfate 60mg extended release. Do you have a PDR book? ## HELLO!! Take one up to your pharmacist, or any pharmacy, and they will know what it is. ## @Lorde, There's no such thing as "hydro morphine", so I'm assuming you meant to say hydromorphone (the generic for dilaudid); which in an of itself is considered to be a potent analgesic. My husband and I are moving to Naples, FL on Nov.1st and I need to find a doctor who will continue to prescribe me the 180mg of ms contin I take per day. My husband takes methadone 60mg per day for chronic pain and he needs a doctor also. We will not have insurance there so we will be paying cash. I would appreciate any real referrals. ## At this time in Florida you aren't likely to have much of a problem finding a doctor to prescribe them, but getting them filled will likely be the issue. if fentanyl is 80x stronger than morphine, how much morphine will I have to take if I'm on 25mg fentanyl. sounds scary ## Hello, Kim! How are you? You're on 25mcgs of Fentanyl? You'd need only about 7.5mgs of Morphine. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes, Fentanyl is 80% stronger. ## None.
