This is the highest dosage unit of immediate release morphine made anywhere, just the one brand, VERMOR-60 by Verve Healthcare. I take them simply because they are much cheaper than any other morphine sulphate I have ever come across, and I need three 'rescue' doses of an opioid analgesic daily since my Oxycontin 120mg tablets seem to last only 6 hours, and not the twelve claimed on the box... Has anybody noticed that the new caplet shaped tabs are subjectively stronger than the old round ones? ## Just as a wee addition to my original post - SEVREDOL is the 'Gold Standard' & most-dispensed brand of IR morphine, being found in most countries (as will be evident to those who use IOPs to acquire medication), & are made in green 50mg, pink 20mg and turquoise 10mg tab...

there is no writing on the capsule but the bottle it was in said morphine DSS 15 - 50 milligram morphine ## Hello, Paigey! How are you? From what you've listed, it seems you may have found a medication that was specially ordered by someone's doctor and made by a compounding pharmacy, because this isn't something that's available as a standard manufactured medication. Morphine is a narcotic analgesic and the DSS usually stands for Decussate Sodium, which is a laxative and stool softener, likely added in to counteract the constipation that the Morphine can cause as a side effect. This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause other side effects, including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth, as listed by the FDA. Is there anything else I...

A 50mg morphine patch has been prescribed by an oncologist and is too strong for my uncle who has terminal stomach cancer. Is it o.k. to cut the patch in half? He is not in pain but is like a zombie. ## Hello, Christine! How is your uncle? No, that could result in his getting too much of the medication at once, which risks an overdose. How long has he been using them? The zombie like effect should improve, as his body gets used to the medication. But if it continues longer than a few weeks, then he should consult his doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## You can fold part of the patch under just don't breach the seal this is how the weekend yo...

white oval 93 on one and 58 on the other side ## This tablet does not contain Morphine, nor any type of narcotic. This tablet contains 50mgs of Tramadol, a non-narcotic pain reliever. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth. Read more: Are there any questions or comments? ## Although this medicine is not an opiad it still works very well for pain. I feel its best use is for weening of prescription pills over a 5 - 7 day period. Do not underestimate their value. Someone who knows from experience!

I recently was switched from 15mg IR to 7.5m gIR, I also take one 15mg CR every 12 hours. I neglegted to ask how much of a difference the 7. would be as opposed to the 15mg IR. I have fibromyalgia, costrocondritus, neck and back anomlies, fractured S1/T2 and the sacrum is cracked. The discs in between; one bulging, one flat and leaking into the siatic nerve. I also have panic disorder (take 5mg Diazepam 3x per bid). Robaxin, 150mg 4x daily, Zoloft 50mg per day. Ompemrazole/ranitidine 1, 2x per day. All from an MVA/2 slip & falls. ## Well, it is half the dose you were taking, so it probably won't give you as much pain control. Learn more Morphine details here. Is there a reason you were given for the dosage reduction? ## I have fibromyalgia n 8 herniated discs plus 2 crushed n 1r...

I have been takin 60mg ms contin 3 times a day n 30mg oxycodone immediate release 4 times a day for 8 yrs i have bullet fragments in my spine an nerve damage in my legs my doc recently changed the oxycodone to morphine 30mg immediate release but my pain is still ridiculous what will help me i also take baclofen 10mg amytriptilyn 50mg an recently lyrica 75mg but like i said my pain is still out of control what will help me? ## Hello, Shy! How are you doing? Has there been any change? According to the NIH conversion information for opiates, Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, thus, being switched from 30mgs Oxycodone to 30mgs of Morphine was actually lowering your dose, so it is unsurprising that you are still in pain. The FDA warns that narcotic medications carry th...

i took 400mg of morphine sunday with niddle, and went sub clinic monday and got perscription but they missed it up and just got my subs today, but last night i slipped up and took 50mg of morphine by mouth, my boyfriend made me throw my rig and stuff away.. when can i start my subs ## Hello, Rae Rae! How are you? You need to be in full withdrawal from everything else, before you can take Suboxone, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise. If you take it too soon, if can throw you into very dangerous precipitated withdrawals. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I ...

I took one 8mg/2mg sublingual suboxone strip yesterday, breaking it up into quarters. I took the last quarter of the strip around midnight. Will it still be a full 72 hours before 50mg morphine will effect me? ## Yes, otherwise the Naloxone will block the effects of the Morphine. The FDA classifies this medication as an opiate, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I really appreciate your reply, but found it to not really be true. . After 24 hours, the morphine worked just fine.

I've been taking 10/325 hydrocodones × 5 per day for a couple of years for pain then the laws changed and, my Dr. prescribed me 1, 30 mg. Kadian cr per day for pain, the hydrocodone kinda helped for pain but i never was fully pain free. Just wanted ask how the new prescription would be better or should I ask for something else. I suffer from osteoarthritis, degenerate bone disease in just about all my joints. Any help with questions would be appreciated greatly. ## Hello, Wohali! How are you? To be equivalent to the amount of Hydrocodone that you were taking, you'd need 50mgs of Morphine. These opiates convert on a 1 to 1 ratio. Thus, the 30mg dosage may not be enough to get your pain under control, but the only way to find out is by trying it. The FDA classifies this medic...

i have been taking 50mg of hyrdocodone per day for the last 6 months and it is not working for the pain anymore. I have ankolying spondylitus. My Dr has put me on 15mg morphine extended release 2x per day. I took 15mg about 3 hours ago and so far not relief. My questions is will this work for me as I was taking 50mg of hyrocodone per day. ## How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? The ER Morphine is released slowly, over a period of 12 hours, it is not released all at once, like the Hydrocodone was, so you will not feel the same effect. There is also a change that this dosage isn't high enough for you. Have you informed your doctor of the issue? Though, it is usually best to give it a week, or so, to see if things improve. The FDA warns that these medications carry the ri...

I was taking 60 mg of morphine tablet how much morphine Sul 100mg/5ML would equal 60MG morphine tablet. ## Hi Jess, Looking at the numbers, if there are 100mg in 5mL (1 tsp) of liquid morphine, then one could divide the dosage in half (2.5mL) for a close conversion that would equal 50mg. The 10mg difference upon doing so would amount to what I "guestimated" to be 0.5mL-0.6mL, based on 12.5mg being in approx. 0.625mL. However I'd still encourage you to double check things with your doctor first before attempting anything he/she hasn't previously recommend. Hope this helps! ## Mom was on 30mg of the morphine pills but the new dr switched her in hospice to come home with 100 mg per 5ml ( 20 mg/ml) Can someone tell me what amount this is ? Did they up her 30 mg pill form she...

I presently take 1 30mg morphine 3X day and 1 15mg mor.ER 2X day. It is not enough. I could take 50mg 4Xday and it might work. BUT instead of asking to up the morphine wouldn't it be better to ask for Hydromorphone 4mg 3X a day. I am not conc. About side effects, on diss.. What would I take in place of ER? ## Hello, Andre! How are you? The ER is a time released formulation, the goal with it is to give you better pain control, while using the other to handle break through pain. So, a regular release Hydromorphone isn't going to be able to do that, either. The dose of the Morphine could be raised. But have you ever tried Oxycodone? There is also a time released formulation of it that you may want to ask your doctor about, it's called Oxycontin. This is a narcotic analgesic, so...

It might be 50mg Tramadol. Mine have no matkings at all. Tramadol is an opiate, stronger than Codeine, but weaker than Morphine. I take 8 capsules a day, 2 every six hours for a trapped nerve in my hand. I am an over 50 male of about 200 lbs. so my dose might be way too much for say a teneager or a woman. ## Mike, My daughter has same problem as you have and she finally tried acupuncture and it helped. Every few years problem tries to re occur and she goes for acupuncture and problem again is resolved. ## Hi Mike, I believe you are right about the pill in question. The closest match I could find is Tramadol 50 mg. Also, I agree that acupuncture would be a great and natural way to treat your nerve pain. I have a problem with a nerve in my left foot and I have had good results from acupun...

I went to a new Pharmacy today to get my monthly Kadian 50mg filled. They said they had the generic and would I like that (Morphine SULFATE ER 50mg). I said sure, but when I looked at the pills, they were exactly the same color, shape, and markings as the name brand Kadian. Does anybody know what the new generic is actually suppose to look like? Why would a drug company make a generic to look exactly like the name brand? How would the Pharmacists tell them apart? ## What are the markings on the tablets? It is possible that you've been receiving a generic all along, but I can't provide you with any information, without knowing the markings on the tablets. If you can post back with this information, I'll gladly check for you. Learn more Morphine information here. ## I don'...

If fentanyl is 80 times stronger than morphine would you consider it safe to drive and work on the 50mg fentanyl mylan patch? ## I would not consider this safe. And I'm sure your Dr, and the local police would agree with me. A friend of mine was recently stopped by the local police. He is on dilaudid for chronic back pain, he got a DUI. Be careful and don't take dilaudids and drive. ## It's a 50 microgram patch, not 50 milligrams, because it is very potent. That said, it is usually best not to drive, operate heavy machinery, or engage in any activity that requires optimal mental alertness, when you first start taking any new medication, until you are aware of how it affects, since it may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and sedation. I started 50mg patch 5 days ago, I would like any suggestions, please,,, is it supposed to make you very tired, and it is not helping with my pain, what should I do? It also has the potential to be habit forming and may cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. As to it not helping with your pain, have you consulted your doctor about that, yet? compare Norco 10mg 5 *day with MSContin 15mg 2*day ## The Hydrocodone in the Norco and the Morphine in MS Contin are actually equal in terms of strength, so if you were taking 50mgs a day of the Hydrocodone in the Norco, then you'll need 50mgs a day of the Morphine to equal it for pain control. Learn more Norco details here. Learn more Morphine details here. Thus, you may not get the same pain relief, since you're not taking an equivalent dosage. Are there any other questions or comments? ## So the 50mg/day of Norco I was taking is stronger then the 2 15mg MSContin that the new dr. put me on?

i have half of a 50mg fentanyl patch and im wondering if you can take it? ## It is not safe to do this with any medication, they should only be used in the manner that they are intended to be used. There is a very high risk of overdose, with Fentanyl, because it is over 80 times stronger than Morphine and even the non-gel patches are time released, so abusing it could result in your getting too much, at once. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Is it ok to use Fentanyl (non-gel) patches, even though they're expired? I have taken the gel patches before and it worked better than I hoped, just took a little bit longer to kick in compared to dilaudid. I just used a 25 mcg. sticky non-gel patch, that expired in 2011. Can I expect it to work better soon?
