I've been on morphing 15 mg for 9 years at 4 times a day . witch would equal to 60 MG's. A day and now they decided to put me on 30 milligrams time release twice a day . is this still the same thing or different and how ## Hello, Blackbetty! How are you? The time released can give some people better pain control, since it is slowly released over the 12 hour dosing period. That is the only difference. And no, you can't cut or break them, because that could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once. They must be swallowed whole. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Can this pill be broken in half and taken? 200 mg is very strong. Half of that dose would be more agreeable. Will it still work as it should? Just not as strong? ## Generally, if the medication is not in an extended release form, I don't see why it wouldn't be safe to divide the tablet in half for a smaller dosage. However, this particular tablet does appear to be extended release and therefore I would NOT encourage anyone to tamper with it in any way, even for legitimate reasons. Just to be sure we are on the same page, this is an oblong green pill with [M] on one side and "200" on the other. And it reportedly contains 200mgs of Morphine sulfate SR (slow release). For verification, the manufacturer is listed as Mallinckrodt. It may be best to ask your doctor for a lower...

A 50mg morphine patch has been prescribed by an oncologist and is too strong for my uncle who has terminal stomach cancer. Is it o.k. to cut the patch in half? He is not in pain but is like a zombie. ## Hello, Christine! How is your uncle? No, that could result in his getting too much of the medication at once, which risks an overdose. How long has he been using them? The zombie like effect should improve, as his body gets used to the medication. But if it continues longer than a few weeks, then he should consult his doctor. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## You can fold part of the patch under just don't breach the seal this is how the weekend yo...

Are they injectable the morphine 15 mg with the (54-733)on it ? ## No, no tablets are safe to inject, they are only intended to be swallowed, so they have not been formulated for injection. Tablets contain fillers and not all of them are meant to be broken down by the human body, they are normally just expelled as waste. I'm sorry that you're having a problem finding your medication. How have you been checking for it? If you're just calling the pharmacies, you won't get an accurate answer, because they have no way of knowing if the person on the phone is a potential thief or a legitimate customer with a need.
