I have been struggling with chronic pain most of my life. I have been taking 3 60MG Extended Release Oxycontin tablets a day along with 3 30MG Oxycodone instant release for breakaway pain. After 3 years of the same dosage it's not working as well as it used to. So my doctor decided to change up the meds a bit. She gave me Morphine Sulphate 60MG ER twice a day and for the life of me I cannot feel this working. It's only been a day but usually I would have pain relief around 30-45 after taking the Oxycontin and then about 3-6 hours of relief. How is this Morphine twice a day at the same MG going to give me the same relief I was getting before AND was already struggling with hence the change to the Morphine? I don't get it, especially after everything I have read falls in line ...

How do I avoid the horrible nausea and vomiting from my 30mg ER morphine pills prescribed to me. Have you tried taking them with food, or milk? In many cases that can help, because they can be very rough on an empty stomach. ## How can I stop the dizziness? I can't get it to stop. I've been taking 30mg for lower back pain. ## Take it with gravol. Gravol is an antiemetic which helps deal with balance and could help with dizziness.

Everyone is different, and each person reacts differently to dosage and mg amount. If you did not recieve your prescription from an MD, I would watch out for overdose symtoms. If you start feeling: Drowsiness, pupils change in size, feeling confused, cold and clammy skin, weakened pulse, difficulty breathing, or fainting I would stop taking it right away. I am trying to decrease the pain meds I am taking. I was taking one 30mg tab twice daily. Recently I forgot and skipped a dose felt fine, I realized it had a half life but I was ok. So I've been at that dose for three day s and I'm still ok. Should I continue with 30mg once a day or should I cut one in half and take it twice a day. I thought I read that ER pills should not be cut. Is this true. How long does it take to start working? ## From my own experiences with morphine it takes any where from 30 to 60 minutes for the drug to take effect.Make sure that you take the pill whole.Don't crush the pill because this will alter the time release of the drug.Drink plenty of water with the pill as so it will kick in faster. ## The regular or time released tablets take between 20 to 30 minutes to start working, however, there is also an instant release on the market that starts working very fast. I was taking 60 mg of morphine tablet how much morphine Sul 100mg/5ML would equal 60MG morphine tablet. ## Hi Jess, Looking at the numbers, if there are 100mg in 5mL (1 tsp) of liquid morphine, then one could divide the dosage in half (2.5mL) for a close conversion that would equal 50mg. The 10mg difference upon doing so would amount to what I "guestimated" to be 0.5mL-0.6mL, based on 12.5mg being in approx. 0.625mL. However I'd still encourage you to double check things with your doctor first before attempting anything he/she hasn't previously recommend. what is the difference between a 30mg blue morphin and a maroon 30mg ## Are there any markings on the tablets you are asking about? I take morphine 15mg extended release tabs right now and I normally take 1 Hydrocodone 10-550's but Im out of those right now..Im wondering if taking another morphine would be ok? Thanks! ## Hi Baby girl,there are several different name's for kadien er,i was taking them 30 mg 2 times a day and the Dr switched it to Embeda Er,which is exactly the same medication,due to my insurance it no longer pays for the kadien er,but so you know if you get switched to the Embeda its the same drug it just doesn't have the same markings as the Kadien Er,but same color and a smaller size.

I don't think there is any differences in the suggested doses, but rather the two 30mg pills-3 times a day allows you to better adjust your dose if you feel that you don't need as much for some reason or another. That's really one of the only conclusions I can come to, unless any of these are extended release tablets. It may also not have anything to do with the above, and could just be a new dosage protocol that physicians have to adhere to when prescribing Morphine (for safety reasons, etc).
