My husband is on 2 - 30 mg morphine daily. He feels terrible and just wants to get off. How? ## From personal experience, I can tell you that even only using it as prescribed can result in severe withdrawal symptoms if you stop cold turkey. Mine lasted for nearly a month. The best way to stop Morphine is to slowly taper it off, that way you minimize the withdrawals. He should really consult his doctor to get the best taper schedule and be under a doctor's supervision while he is stopping it. It is a very potent narcotic. Has he spoken to his doctor about his desire to stop using it, yet?

red and white capsule has Pfuer printed on the red side and PGN 75 printed on the white side ## THIS IS NOT MORPHINE NOR ANY TYPE OF NARCOTIC! This is Pregabalin 75mgs, a generic for Lyrica. This is used to help prevent Epileptic seizures and to treat certain types of nerve pain. It is NOT a narcotic nor related to one, though. ## By the way, that is what the code PGN 75 stands for Pregabalin 75mgs. Pfizer is the manufacturer.

changing to Oxycodone HCL BY DOCTOR--what amount of oxycodone hcl would be comparable to MS CONTIN 30 MG ? ## Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you would actually need a lower dose of the Oxycodone, which would be around 20mgs. The side effect profile is similar for both, since they are both narcotic analgesics and may include: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. How many 30 mg slow release morphine tabs can you take in a 24 hr ## Hello, Temperance! How are you? They should be taken as your doctor prescribed, exceeding that could result in a dangerous overdose, that has the potential to be fatal. Normally, the time released Morphine like this is dosed every 12 hours. But, there are also some that are dosed once every 24 hours. The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Doctor told me to half my 30 mg. MS-CONTIN but the package said this pill should not be split. It is a small mauve pill. I believe it is time-relased. ## Time released (also known as controlled release [CR], or extended release [ER]) generally should not be split because of how they are designed. Do the pills in question have any score marks on them? If they are scored then you should be able to split them. If not, then I would triple check with the pharmacy to get their opinion. When in doubt I'd stick with the instructions on the label. You might even want to get in touch with your doctor (if possible) and tell them that the package specifically states not to split the pill and ask them what they think. Hope this helps! ## Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I called the phar...

I'm sorry that you're having a problem finding your medication. How have you been checking for it? If you're just calling the pharmacies, you won't get an accurate answer, because they have no way of knowing if the person on the phone is a potential thief or a legitimate customer with a need. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Does anyone have any ideas? ## Take the prescription to a hospital , and usually they can make sure that your doctor is legit and can also help in getti...

I've been on morphing 15 mg for 9 years at 4 times a day . witch would equal to 60 MG's. A day and now they decided to put me on 30 milligrams time release twice a day . is this still the same thing or different and how ## Hello, Blackbetty! How are you? The time released can give some people better pain control, since it is slowly released over the 12 hour dosing period. That is the only difference. And no, you can't cut or break them, because that could cause you to get too much of the medication, at once. They must be swallowed whole. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ##...

Can you take 2 to make it 30mg ## Yes, the medication would be released into your body, just the same as if you took a 30mg extended release tablet, any fluctuation would be so slight as to not be noticeable or therapeutically significant. Learn more Morphine information here. It is not, however, safe to change your dosage without your doctor's approval, since this a narcotic and there can be risks associated with its use. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I was prescribed 15mg morphine er twice a day. I think that the night time pill disturbs my breathing at night. I'm new to MSIR ER 60mg and 30mg 4 x's per day for breakthrough pain and 3 x's a day on ER. Is this too much? ## The extend release is normally taken twice a day. If you haven't been taking Morphine what you stated is too much. FDA guidelines state a patient isn't suppose to be prescribed more than 120 mg Morphine a day.

I have a purple little round pill with a M in a square on one side and on the other side it has the # 30. When I looked it up it showed morphine sulfate Sr. My questions are #1. Are these considered extended release? And #2. If so, how often should I be taking them? 1 every 12 hours or 1 every 24 hours. ## Hello, Star! How are you? Yes, the SR stands for sustained release, so it is a time release formulation. They are usually dosed every 12 hours, but you should follow your doctor's prescribing instructions, if they are different. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Just prescribed for on Morphine Sulfate SA. Would like to know to what effect this will be different from 4-10 mg hydrocodone/500 APAP, daily ? ## They are both narcotics, so the side effects are going to be very similar, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. However, the SA stands for sustained action, so the Morphine is a time released product that is meant to help give you better pain control. Is there anything else I can help with?
