Morphine 30 Mg Pill

My husband is on 2 - 30 mg morphine daily. He feels terrible and just wants to get off. How? ## From personal experience, I can tell you that even only using it as prescribed can result in severe withdrawal symptoms if you stop cold turkey. Mine lasted for nearly a month. The best way to stop Morphine is to slowly taper it off, that way you minimize the withdrawals. He should really consult his doctor to get the best taper schedule and be under a doctor's supervision while he is stopping it. It is a very potent narcotic. Has he spoken to his doctor about his desire to stop using it, yet?

changing to Oxycodone HCL BY DOCTOR--what amount of oxycodone hcl would be comparable to MS CONTIN 30 MG ? ## Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you would actually need a lower dose of the Oxycodone, which would be around 20mgs. Doctor told me to half my 30 mg. MS-CONTIN but the package said this pill should not be split. It is a small mauve pill. I believe it is time-relased. ## Time released (also known as controlled release [CR], or extended release [ER]) generally should not be split because of how they are designed. Do the pills in question have any score marks on them? If they are scored then you should be able to split them. If not, then I would triple check with the pharmacy to get their opinion. When in doubt I'd stick with the instructions on the label. You might even want to get in touch with your doctor (if possible) and tell them that the package specifically states not to split the pill and ask them what they think. I'm new to MSIR ER 60mg and 30mg 4 x's per day for breakthrough pain and 3 x's a day on ER. Is this too much? ## The extend release is normally taken twice a day. If you haven't been taking Morphine what you stated is too much. FDA guidelines state a patient isn't suppose to be prescribed more than 120 mg Morphine a day.

Just prescribed for on Morphine Sulfate SA. Would like to know to what effect this will be different from 4-10 mg hydrocodone/500 APAP, daily ? ## They are both narcotics, so the side effects are going to be very similar, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. However, the SA stands for sustained action, so the Morphine is a time released product that is meant to help give you better pain control. Is there anything else I can help with?
