changing to Oxycodone HCL BY DOCTOR--what amount of oxycodone hcl would be comparable to MS CONTIN 30 MG ? ## Oxycodone is one and a half times stronger than Morphine, so you would actually need a lower dose of the Oxycodone, which would be around 20mgs. The side effect profile is similar for both, since they are both narcotic analgesics and may include: nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation. This is the highest dosage unit of immediate release morphine made anywhere, just the one brand, VERMOR-60 by Verve Healthcare. I take them simply because they are much cheaper than any other morphine sulphate I have ever come across, and I need three 'rescue' doses of an opioid analgesic daily since my Oxycontin 120mg tablets seem to last only 6 hours, and not the twelve claimed on the box... Has anybody noticed that the new caplet shaped tabs are subjectively stronger than the old round ones? ## Just as a wee addition to my original post - SEVREDOL is the 'Gold Standard' & most-dispensed brand of IR morphine, being found in most countries (as will be evident to those who use IOPs to acquire medication), & are made in green 50mg, pink 20mg and turquoise 10mg tab...

How much Morphine equals 10 mgs of Hydrododone? ## Hello, Ol Granny! They are equivalent to each other, so 10mgs of one equals 10mgs of the other. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can I get hooked on these if i take 20 mgs per day for two months? ## To answer your question, yes, it is possible to get hooked that quickly, as Morphine is recognized as having a high potential for addiction. Tolerance and psychological dependence can develop rapidly, although physiological dependence may take several months to develop. Whether you have addictive behavior or not, I truly believe that your mind can overcome any addiction if you stay on top of how you feel and how it's affecting you while you're taking it on such a consistent basis. One way to do this is to keep a log or journal every week reporting any undesirable side effects, feelings, emotions (if you become more emotional) and what-have-you. Taking note of any changes in yourself really help put things into...

Im also taking tramdol 50 mgs of tramdol also works good. However, in order for any of these meds to work. I have tlo take 3 pills of each, meaning im taking 90mgs of morphine and a 150 of tramdol. The pain clinic and the Doctor that prescribes my morphine. I dont feel like he has my best interest at heart. He seems to be me like a legalize drug dealer. Im planning on discontinue his service in October 17, 2014 ## Hi mattie, Sorry to hear about your experience with that doctor. If you think about it though, most MD's who work in such a setting ARE pretty much legal drug dealers. Outside of running diagnostics for a specific con...

Can this pill be broken in half and taken? 200 mg is very strong. Half of that dose would be more agreeable. Will it still work as it should? Just not as strong? ## Generally, if the medication is not in an extended release form, I don't see why it wouldn't be safe to divide the tablet in half for a smaller dosage. However, this particular tablet does appear to be extended release and therefore I would NOT encourage anyone to tamper with it in any way, even for legitimate reasons. Just to be sure we are on the same page, this is an oblong green pill with [M] on one side and "200" on the other. And it reportedly contains 200mgs of Morphine sulfate SR (slow release). For verification, the manufacturer is listed as Mallinckrodt. It may be best to ask your doctor for a lower...

My Dr prescribes 20mg oxycodone on a monthly basis for my chronic pain. I've been having to take a UA every month when I go to see him. Is this normal practice? I don't abuse the pills. He will only prescribe 75 20 b mgs per month. This is not enough to control my pain but it at least lessens it. Should I find a different dr? I've been a patient there for 5 years. Thx. ## Most doctors will require UA's, now, when a patient is on a controlled substance. They want to make sure that you're taking it, as prescribed and not selling them. They also want to make sure that you aren't taking anything that hasn't been prescribed. Additionally, there are limits on how much they can prescribe, these were put in place by the DEA last year and that also applies to all doct...

I broke my ankle two weeks ago and the doctor started me on 40 - 80 mg a day then after a week I dropped down to 20-30mg a day. It has been almost a total of 2 weeks on this medication and when I wake in the morning I feel sick and sweaty until I take my meds. I'm wondering if a person can go through withdrawal on such a small dosage and if so how long will it take for this to stop ## That's not really a small dosage, even being down to 20 to 30mgs a day is still a pretty high dose and yes, one can experience withdrawal symptoms, whenever your dosage is lowered, or if you stop taking it, according to the NIH. Other withdrawal effects may include rebound pain, fever, chills, and diarrhea. You weren't taking it for too long, so they will most likely subside in a week, or so. I...

my friend ate a 200 mg morphine pill and threw up and is in tremendous pain and falling asleep. does she need to go to hospital? ## It is NEVER a good idea, when you are afraid that someone's life or health may be in danger, to post on a free information website and wait for an answer!!! this site is not medical professionals and could not help in such cases. Always call or take the person to your nearest emergency care facility. That said, the only 200mg Morphine tablets in the U.S. are time released and if she ate, so she received all of the Morphine at once, yes, she could have gotten too much of the medication, especially if she does not take it regularly. The vomiting, pain and sedation are all signs of a drug overdose! Please post back and let us know how she is doing. More on...

I have been tapering off of 60 mgs of morphine for the last 3 months. I've been on it for 10 years. First on 120 mgs then in 2009 went to 90 and then to 60 by 2011, up to 90 for 9 months after tri level fusion in neck between c4-c7. Best thing I ever did was the surgery and it wasn't a bad recovery at all. I'm very happy with it. Anyway now I'm down to 5 mgs and thinking about just stopping. I have heard this part will be the hardest. Is this true? My withdrawals have not been bad and I have worked thru it all. Just nervous. Thanks. ## Hello, Tammy! How are you? That's not a very high dose to stop abruptly, but yes, you will most likely experience some withdrawal symptoms. The FDA lists them as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, rebound pain and diarrhea. It c...

HOW LONG DOES IT START WORKING, THE 30mg MORPHINE? ## The regular release or time released tablets will take about 20 to 30 minutes to start working. The instant release formulations work much faster. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation. Read more: Are there any comments or questions? ## How do I tell if my 30mg morphine is extended release or immediate release if I don't have the bottle any more? I have 2 different kinds left but don't know which ones which!? One has a M on one side and Ms30 on the other. The other one has m on one side and abg or something on the other, both are purple.

I have recieved both and the capsules were identicle, why? ## Hello, Karla! How are you? Chances are that you've received the generic both times, it's very common for pharmacies to dispense the generic, rather than the name brand. What are the markings on the capsules? The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

small white pill with 2 on one side and m on the other ## This doesn't contain Morphine, but it does contain 2mgs of Hydromorphine, the active ingredient in Dilaudid, which is a narcotic analgesic. You can read more on it here: Do you have any other questions? ## I've been taking oxycodone and hydrocodone for the past 3-1/2 yrs for back pain, I take 5 pills of 7.5 each every 4hrs. What is the difference between 15 mg morphine and 15 mg morphine er ## Hello, Renee! How are you? The ER designates that one as being time released, so the dose is slowly released over a period of 12 hours, the one without such a designator is a regular release pill, so the complete dose is released within about 15 to 20 minutes of taking it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with?

PLEASE HELP ME, I am so frustrated. I got a shock last week when I went to pick up my monthly prescribtion of morphine sulfate er 200 mg. I take 3 per day for my pain. I usally pay $225.00 for this rx well it jumped to over $1,000.00! I don't have insurance so I pay the cash price and have for over 5 years now for this medicine. I can't seem to find a replacement opiate that is time released the only one I found is oxycontin 60 mg. I get 90 pills every month. The price for the oxycontin is also over $1,000.00. What is going on with this increase? Does anyone have a suggestion on a medicine that is not so expensive? It does not have to be time released. Please help if you can. Very upset and looking for an answer. I am in the Orlando area... Thank you in advance for your input. E...

my drug insurance co sugested i take this morphine in place of oxycodone 20 mg cr tab.. what is your impression of that??// ## Doesn't work for me. See if he will give you the IR oxycoxone for breakthrough pain. That should help.'that's an awful low dose of extended release morphine. Good luck! ## 30mgs of Morphine is equivalent to the 20mgs of Oxycodone that you were taking. However, it doesn't work as well for everyone, similar to Full of Heart, when I was on pain management and had to switch, due to my insurance no longer covering Oxycontin, it helped, but never worked quite as well as the Oxycontin did. They are both narcotics, so the side effects are very similar and may include: nausea, dizziness, constipation and dry mouth. Are there any other questions? ## I Want...
