I just realized i never took the two white pills from my last pill pack (lot going on). But i had my period so no worries and was going to just start my next pill pack sunday. However, i did not foresee my dr messing up (long story but will be switching dr.s) so, I was unable to get prescription filled until wednesday; 4 days after I was to begin taking the first pill. So doubling up wed, thurs and fri. I will use another form of b.c. for the next few weeks but am a bit worried that sunday I did not use backup (since I didnt know at the time I wouldnt b able to get b.c. that day). Just wondering how plausible getting pregnant would b because of this scenario? ## Hello, Chris! How are you? There is a slight risk, so if you don't get your next period, you'll want to look into the ...

We had contact on day 7. Am i protected?

I forgot to take 1 pill in the first pack. I saw that I still had my last pill. It is possible to get pregnant? ## Yes, every time you miss a pill, there is a risk of pregnancy, according to NIH reports, though the risk is not very high, if you only missed one tablet. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and irregular bleeding. If you are concerned, there is never any harm in checking for pregnancy, to be sure. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am on my 4th month of taking althea... After my 7 day rest, instead of taking it on my 8th day at 9pm i took it the next day at 9am? Is there any possibility of pregnancy? I had unprotected intercourse during my rest day... Thanks. ## I'm taking Althea contraceptive pi...

I took a full month and after my last pill of the month I missed 3 days because the pharmacy was out of pills.. Then I started my New pack took a pill the first day and second day after taking the pill the second day they night I had intercourse could I be pregnant?? ## Yes, there could be a chance that you are pregnant, not a very high one, but the possibility is definitely there, so you may want to check. In the future, it would be best to pick up a new supply a few days, before you'd run out and, if your pharmacy doesn't have it in stock, then you should try a different pharmacy. Transferring a prescription is a simple matter. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting and PMS-like symptoms. Is the...

I've been on sprintec for about half a year now and never had problems. Recently I missed 2 blue pills and had intercourse within those days and now im spotting a week before the white pills. What does this mean? Do I jump ahead and start the white pills that im supposed to take while on my period? Why did this happen? ## HI, Nisa! That can happen if you miss active pills. When you have your period while taking oral hormonal contraceptives, it is actually called a withdrawal bleed, because it is due to a withdrawal of the hormones. The tablets you take that week are actually just placebos. Thus, by missing pills your body is made to operate as if it is time for the withdrawal bleed to occur and having intercourse those days increased the risk of pregnancy, just an FYI. ….and y...

I was on vacation and forgot to take my blue pills the first two days. I doubled up the next two days based on what I remember (I was in Mexico with no access to internet). Instructions however say if in week 3 or 4 to just start a new pack. I already doubled up. What should I do?? It was end of week 3. ## Hello, KatKlub13! How are you? Unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you could just continue taking them, but make sure to use a backup method of protection, until you've taken 7 days worth of the active tablets, without missing any. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, PMS-like symptoms and breakthrough bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much - I doubled up a...

Hi, I was on my period the previous week from sunday to thursday, then I forgot to take 4 pills of Oralcon from friday till sunday and now I'm on my second period. I just want to know how long will this period last since the blood is too much and not decreasing ## Hello, Desiree! How are you? Yes, that can happen if you miss several in a row. The pills you take the week you have your period actually have no active hormones in them, so what you have them is a withdrawal bleed, thus, that's going to occur any other time you don't have the hormones going into your body. I can't say for sure how long it will last, perhaps a week or so, until your hormones balance back out from taking them, again. If it persists, you should see your doctor. Is there anything else I can help w...

I missed three days of the blue pills (really stressful time with a lot on my mind) I was on week two and missed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This morning (Sunday) I woke up with my period? What do I do? I'm not sure whether to just keep going or start a new pack. ## If you miss more than 2 pills, you should go ahead and start a new pack to get back on track. You will also want to use some other form of protection for about a week, since missing even one pill can increase your chances of getting pregnant. You can always keep the ones left in this pack around, for such a time as you may drop and lose a pill, or for a future time where you would like to take extras, because having your period then would be inconvenient. Are there any other questions? ## I was wondering how thick the...

I am waiting on a call back from my doc but I have had an upset stomach two days in a row. Today it was right at three hours after taking my pill. I don't want to take too many pills ( 4 in two days ) . If it was right at three hours should I even be worried about today? ## Do you mean you vomited after taking your pill, or you just had nausea? If it was just nausea, that wouldn't affect it and there'd be no reason to take an extra pill. Even with vomiting, if it was after several hours, there's a good chance that you already absorbed the medication, since it usually only takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start breaking down. What did your doctor tell you to do?

I missed 2 blue pills in week 3 of my pack. I normally take them at night. I forgot to take pills Sat night and Sunday night. I remembered Monday morning and took both, then took Monday's pill Monday night and have continued with the pack. I now see that I should have thrown out the pack after missing two and started fresh. I had intercourse at the start of my week 4 pills - should I be concerned about pregnancy? ## Hello, Danielle! How are you? Yes, if you missed pills there is an increased risk of pregnancy. Usually, they instruct you to wait and see if your period is late and, if it goes 7 days or more late, then to have it checked out, unless your doctor instructs otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headac...

Hi, I've been taking lo loestrin Fe for a while now and I'm really good at taking my pills regularly. However, this past week has been a mess. I had to fill my prescription on Monday but I was supposed to take a pill on Sunday night. So I took it as soon as I got my refill. Then I somehow missed Monday night, Tuesday night, and last night. I woke up, realized that I forgot and freaked out. I took the three pills. Then I read that if you miss three or more pills you must start a new pack. What does that mean? I already took the three I missed. If I were to start a new pack would I start on the first Thursday? (Today) help!! ## Hello, Alyssa! How are you? Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, you can continue with this pack, but use a backup method of contraception, until yo...

Last month I took all the blue pills but I skipped the white and brown pills. I know the 2 brown pills are just iron pills but is it bad that I skipped the white ones too? ## Hello, Kate! How are you? No, the white ones have no active ingredients in them, whatsoever, so it doesn't matter if you skip them. Is there anything else I can help with? ## The other response is wrong! I just started this pill and was confused myself. The patient insert does indicate that the white pills have estrogen! I didn't take them either! But will from now on! I wish my doctor had told me...I'm so used to the white pills being inactive! ## The white pills have *estrogen* in them. What they are missing is the progestin. Without progestin, your body starts having a period. That's why it's...

I missed two pills and will take two pills tomorrow to get back on schedule, I was wondering when to expect my period and how bad it would be this month? Last time I missed one pill and it caused my period to come a week early, just wondering how how its going to affect me. ## Hi, Nicole! I'm sorry, but there's really no way for anyone to know how your body will react to missing them. These contain synthetic hormones and everyone's body is different, so missing a tablet or two may cause major issues for some people, but others may not encounter any problems, at all. It's actually a withdrawal bleed from not taking active tablets for a day or two that induces your menstrual cycle, so if missing one tablet caused it to start early before, then that is most likely what will...

This is my third month taking sprintec. I completely overlooked taking the pill last Saturday and didn't realize until today when I took the pack out of the holder entirely. I've taken every pill at the same time except for last Saturday's. I therefore took two today. Should I be worried that skipping a pill and catching up today caused ovulation? ## Yes, there is a risk of that, though only a slight one. You can use backup protection for the next 7 days, until you've made sure to take a pill each day, without missing any, so you'd be sure they are preventing ovulation, again. Otherwise, the only thing you can really do is wait and see if you start your period, when it's due. Oral OCs may also cause side effects, such as irregular bleeding, headache, irritability...

I always have a hard time of taking my pills at its exact time but this time it was a different story. Ive been busy because of my thesis and i forgot to take the 14th pill of my 28 day contraceptive pill. Without noticing that i haven't taken the 14th, i continued to take the 15th and 16th pill, but i was not able to take the 17th also and had intercourse that night. so it means that ive missed 2 pills not in a row.. The following morning, as soon as I noticed it i took the 14th, the 17th in the evening and the 18th at dawn. What are the chances of getting pregnant in this case? Does anyone have experience with this and still didn't get prego? HELP! HELP! HELP! I am so freaking out because im about to graduate and this should not be the time to get pregnant :-(

This month I skipped the white pills so I wouldn't have my period. Instead of the white pills I went right to the new pack of blue pills. The sunday the white pills would have stopped, I started to spot, it's not a full period but it is annoying and has now been going on for a little more than a week. Is this normal, how long should the bleeding last, is is okay to be taking the blue pills while on my "period"??? ## Basically, your body was expecting that one week break from hormones and it didn't get it, you continued to take the hormone tablets. It is normal to have some spotting and breakthrough bleeding, when this occurs. I can't say how long it will last, for some people, it could be several weeks. And yes, it is okay to take them while you are having the bl...

I forgot to take Thursday thru Saturday of week 2 trisprintec pills. I went ahead and took the three that I missed and now I'm cramping. Should I continue my pack since I have one week left or just start a new pack after my period? ## Hello, Chloe! How are you? At the point where you miss that many, the FDA instructions usually tell you to start a new pack. However, unless your doctor says otherwise, you can start your new pack the first day of your period. That will ensure that you're immediately protected from pregnancy. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've been on Sprintec 28 for...

Last week I started my new pack of tri sprintec. I somehow missed three pills in week one, and took two pills that Sunday (the day I realized). I didn't start a new pack, and this week I had unprotected intercourse five days after Sunday. I know my risks for pregnancy are very high, but are there any suggestions on what to do now? ## @Alexa, When you engage in that level of intimacy with your partner, assuming the risk of pregnancy is something that both individuals have to live with and be mentally prepared for in the event that something does/doesn't go as planned. But "what's done is already done" and you can't go back in time to reverse it... So with that said, I would just encourage you to continue taking your pills as prescribed and from this point onward, ...

I usually put my Lexapro tablet in my back pocket before taking with dinner. Recently I found a tablet in my pocket which I guess I forgot to take at some point. The same week I had noticed feeling some of my old symptoms back after feeling ok for some weeks I'm wondering if missing one tablet could have caused that relapse ? For example, does the tablet I take today help me for the next 24 hours ? Or is its affect less direct and more cumulative over time ? Hope somebody understands my question ! ## Hello, Fred! How are you doing? Has there been any change? No, usually missing only one dose shouldn't cause such issues, though I do highly recommend finding a better storage spot for your pills, your back pocket is not idea. The FDA suggests investing in an inexpensive pill carrie...
