I am on a 1.5 Mirapex daily, one pill slow release regimen for Parkinson - when is the best time to take it - morning or evening? I take it now at 9 am, get sleepy during day and peppy in the evening - when I get up in the morning I feel the best, just before taking the pill, afterward I feel "strange". At night, I sleep ok with half milligram of Tavor - a tranquilizer. Thanks for input. ## Since it's a time released medication, there isn't really a best time to take it, as long as you remember to take it at the same time each day. Thus, if it works better for you to take it at night, then there shouldn't be a problem with that, but you should double check with your doctor to be sure. This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, decreased appetit...

Itake 1.5mg mirapex 3 times a day,i take 12 sinemet 25/100 through a course of a day i want to know how do i go about getting myself off these 2 meds my life course has changed i dont need them anymore[PARKINSONS DISEASE]. ## Hi, Kevin! To avoid withdrawal and rebound effects, tapering is usually done very, very slowly. The current preferred method is to have the person start to skip doses, or stretch out the time between when they take them. Such as taking them every 10 hours, rather than every 8 and then slowly lengthening the time even further. But this method can take weeks or months. However, you should consult your doctor to see what method is safest for you. Have you consulted your doctor, yet?

Is lyrica and Mirapex considered anti-inflammatory. and contraindicated for colonoscopy ## No, neither are anti-inflammatories. Lyrica is an anticonvulsant that's also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and Mirapex is a dopamine agonist. You can learn more Mirapex details here and you can learn more Lyrica details here. However, I am not sure what all is contraindicated, so you should check with your doctor. I have been taking mirapex for about 6 years for restless legs - just within the past week I was given samples of mirapex er - so far I have not been able to sleep for the second night in a row - legs are very jumpy ## Is it the same dosage as the one you have already been on? The ER stands for Extended Release, this means that the amount of medication in the tablet is slowly released over a certain period of time, rather than all at once. This means, that if they are the same dosage, you might not be getting enough of the medication, at once, to control your symptoms. Have you reported this to your doctor, yet? ## Mirapex ER is not approved for treatment of RLS. I would recommend calling your Dr and getting back on the regular Mirapex ## I had to change from mirapex .50 mg to extended ...

I have RLS and have been on mirapex for 7 years. I tried other meds, but this really works. Up until my pharmacy changed where they buy pills from. The white ones were what I was taking and had no side effects. Now they are blue or pale pink. When I take them I get very sick, headache, throwing up and nausea. My pharmacy will not order white ones for me. How can I find out name of where I can get white ones ? PLEASE Help Me. Thanks Brenda ## Hello, Brenda! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you tried other pharmacies in your area? They may carry the others, or be willing to order them in for you. Can you ask your current pharmacy the name of the manufacture of the white ones, so you know which you're looking for?

My doctor's PA suggested that I take Mirapex for extreme leg cramps in my groin. The cramps started after I was forced to take statins to lower my cholesterol levels. The statins didn't work, but caused the extreme leg cramps. I would be left screaming for 40 minutes or more when the cramps would hit. The PA suggested trying Mirapex at .125mg up to .375mg dosage rates on an "as needed" basis. Mirapex was nothing short of a miracle. When the cramps would hit, I would take two .125mg tablets and the cramps would completely stop in about 20 minutes. I have been checked for underlying conditions (Restless leg, Parkinson's) and they don't exist. I know this treatment may be considered "off-label", but it has been a lifesaver for me. ## Since Mirapex is commonl...

I have gradually gained weight since starting .25 mg of Mirapex about 4 years ago. I have rapidly gained weight since my dosage was increased by my doctor two years ago (increased to .75). Total weight gain of 40 pounds. I am not going to take this drug anymore and plan to use alternative remedies. Will I begin to lose weight when the Mirapex is completely out of my system? ## Hello, SandraD! How are you? This medication has been known to cause weight gain, according to FDA reports, as well as nausea, fever, vertigo, mania, and abnormal dreams. But yes, typically these issues go away, once someone stops taking the given medication, but that may take 6 to 8 weeks. What condition was being treated with this medication? ## Thanks for your reply. I was taking it for Restless Leg Syndrome. S...

Is lyrica and Mirapex considered anti-inflammatory. and contraindicated for colonoscopy ## Neither one is an anti-inflammatory. Gabapentin is actually an anticonvulsant that's also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and Mirapex is a dopamine agonist. You can learn more Mirapex details here and you can learn more Lyrica details here. Is that the only medication class they listed as being contraindicated? Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories are medications such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Meloxicam and others.

I am taking 1 tablet of Norco 10-325mg at bedtime for pain due to ankle surgery; 1 tablet of Mirapex 0.25 at bedtime for RLS; and over the counter Alteril ( 1-2 tablets) for sleep. Restless legs are keeping me awake and in torment at night. Is there any problem with this combination? Also, is there a better solution for RLS? ## Increase your dose of Mirapex to the next level. I have had RLS since childhood and am now 60 years old. Ten years ago I was given Mirapex at its lowest dose and that very night I went to sleep without having to get up and walk or jump around because of my legs. Since then I have had to up my dose to one and one-half tables of .5. Your body has probably built up a tolerance, just keep upping the dose when you have more than a few nights of leg problems. ## No one...

This generic mirapex has made me super nauseated each time I have taken it. I do not have this issue when I take Glenmarks 1.5 mg x4 tablets. The tablets that make me sick are dark pink, scored and have E 6 on one side. Has anyone else had this issue? ## I believe the tablet your talking about is actually considered brown by the manufacturer and the marking is actually 9 over 3. It is manufactured by Torrent Pharmaceuticals. There can be fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient from one generic to another, so this one could be a little stronger, which may be why it makes you sick. The inactive ingredients can also be completely different from one manufacturer to another, so there could be one of them that you're sensitive to. The FDA lists its typical side effects as poss...

I want to know the benefit of mirapex-er compare to requil ## I am not certain the Mirapex ER or Requip necessarily have benefits over each other, the both belong to the same drug family and are used to treat the same things. Using one over the other is usually something a doctor decides according to their experience by discovering what works for certain patients and what doesn't. They may have instances where they find one causes less side effects than the other and etc. It is very hard to say. Common side effects to these can include: nausea, drowsiness, hallucinations and insomnia. I was diagnosed with Shy-Drager Syndrome and put on .5mg of Mirapex. You all know the cost and the doctor assured me a generic was available at a reasonable cost. Walgreens wanted $231, Walmart wanted $216, purchased at Cosco for $23 for 90ct. of .5mg. Buyer beware did not have to go to Canada . ## Mirapex is manufactured by Boehringer Ingleheim and, for anyone without insurance or with limited Medicare coverage, they do have an assistance program called RX Hope, if you qualify you may receive your medications for free or for a lower charge, based on a sliding fee scale.
