This is my third month on minastrin and the first month was a normal period for about 4 days, second month was brown discharge and blood for about 4 days and this month I have not had my period yet after the four inactive pills. Is there anything to be worried about, by not getting my period? ## No, some women stop having periods, while taking oral contraceptives and it is nothing to worry about, unless your doctor sees reason to be concerned. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## If I do not get my period in the next month, should I contact my doctor? ## My doctor gave me a sample pack of Minastrin 24 fe and was supposed to call in the regular prescription to my pharmacy. I been on minastrin for a month and I still havent had no period what should I do I am scare that I want be able to have kids ## Some women do not have periods, when taking oral contraceptives, you could also experience irregular periods for the first 3 months, or so, as reported by the FDA. Other typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and PMS-like symptoms. However, unless your doctor sees a reason to be concerned, it is usually nothing to worry about and will not affect your ability to have children in the future. Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi, I have been on this birth control for about 4-5 months now, my periods were extremely light before i started the pill, usually only about 3 days long but i had very bad cramping. Since i began the pill my periods havent lasted more than a day but they have been pretty regular, this month i havent gotten my period, is this a problem seeing as though my periods were so light before? ## No, not unless your doctor feels there is reason to be concerned. Some women just don't have periods, when taking oral contraceptives. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking Minestrin 24 for over a year now with a regular period, however this last month - I have not had period only spotted a tiny bit, however, I have intense cramping - is this normal. ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? Those can be normal side effects of this medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability. It is usually nothing to worry about, unless your doctor sees a reason to be concerned. Some women stop having periods, entirely, while taking oral contraceptives. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was in loestrin 24 starting in October 2011 until the switch had to be made to minastrin and have been taking that ever since. Many times I have very light periods where no tampon is needed ever and I wear a p...

Hi, I've been taking Minastrin 24 for two months now. In my second month I had missed a couple pills but made them up and I had only fully missed one pill (meaning I didn't take it at all). My boyfriend and I had been intimate and everything with the pull out method. Now I am 21 days late on my period. After I was done with the white set I just stopped taking the birth control. I have regular periods. Around one week before my period I experienced a weird period that was just spotting. Very light, only last 2 days. Didn't even need a tampon. Is this normal? I'm basically asking if that was considered a period? Will I get my next cycle? ## Hello, Lindsay! How are you? Has anything changed? It can be normal to have very light and short periods, while taking oral contracept...

I took Minastrin 24 Fe for 6 months. I got off track in the 5th month and didn't have a period (normally lasts all 4 of the inactive days) since I just kept taking the white pills I had in old packs that I messed up in the beginning. I stopped taking the pill on New Year's Day and I haven't had a period since. Could I be pregnant? I was intimate with my partner the day after I stopped taking the pill. ## Yes, it you were intimate right after stopping it, there is a risk of pregnancy. It depends on when you ovulated. Have had yourself checked for pregnancy? The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and spotting.

I've taken Ministrin 4 Fe for over a year and have only missed 1 period a few months ago. I didn't get my period last month though, and am about to take my third sugar pill for this month but still haven't gotten my period. Should I be concerned since if I don't get this period, I will have missed two periods in a row? Or is this just a possible side effect? ## Have you missed any pills? Skipping periods, or not having them at all, can be a normal side effect for some woman that take hormonal contraceptives, according to FDA reports. Others are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and PMS-like symptoms. Has your doctor stated there is any reason for concern? Are you on any other medications, or have you taken any others recently?

I've been taking Minastrin for about 4 months now. My periods have been pretty correlated with the brown pills. I'm on the brown pills now and still have not started my period. I know some women experience not having a period at all or light periods while on the pill, but since I've had consistent periods so far, is this a reason to believe I could be pregnant? ## Hello, Bekah! How are you? If you've not missed any pills, then there is no reason to think you might be pregnant. Skipping your period can happen, when you're taking oral contraceptives, but is nothing to worry about, if you've not missed any tablets and your last pap smear was normal. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. H...

I started taking minastrin 24 few about 6 months ago. I spotted irregularly for the first 2 months but I have had no period since. I've been without a period for 4 months. I even take the four inactive pills and still don't start. I thought the inactive pills were for " period time ". Am I wrong? I hope nothing is wrong. ## Hello, Jenna! How are you? Unless your doctor feels there is some reason to be concerned, it's most likely nothing. Some women just don't experience periods, when taking hormonal contraceptives. Side effects may include irregular cycles, nausea, dizziness, headache, bloating, weight gain and irritability. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My ob/gyn is never concerned with anything. He just blows me off when I want to ask him a questio...

This month I got on minastrin 24 fe and I took it for a little while and stopped 2 days before my period because I would miss a day or two and now I'm 11 days late on my period. Should I be worried? I have had period symptoms like tender breasts, bloated, cramping, just like my normal period but I haven't started it yet. My boyfriend and I have been intimate 2 times since I stopped one with a condom and one without a condom and he didn't climax inside of me either time. I'm just worried and need answers fast. ## Hello, Teri! How are you? Has anything changed? There is a risk of pregnancy, if you missed pills and/or were intimate without protection. However, as reported by the FDA, this could also be caused by taking it for several weeks and then suddenly stopping. You ma...

Hi! I have been on Minasterin FE 24 for about 1 year now. I had my normal period last month that started on the second day of the brown placebo pills. I started the white pills on the same day I started my period (meaning I didn't take 2 of the brown placebo pills). Am I at a higher risk for pregnancy this month? ## No, those are also placebo tablets, so to speak, they only contain an iron supplement to help prevent women from becoming anemic, due to their menstrual bleeding, according to FDA listings. As long you don't miss any active pills, you should be fine, but it never hurts to check for pregnancy, if you are concerned. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, PMS like symptoms, and irregular bleeding. Is there anything else...

Last period was on Apr 21st. Started Minastrin 24 Fe on Apr 25. Bled for 22 days straight. Stopped taking pill on May 19th. No real period since. Has anyone had issues like this? Help please? ## Hello, Lor! How are you? Have you had a period, yet? The bleeding like that can be normal, when you first start a hormonal contraceptive, such side effects usually last about 3 months, or so and taking it for a bit, then abruptly stopping, could throw your hormones off balance, so your cycle could be off. ## I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MINASTRIN 24 FE MADE ME BLEED FOR 25 DAYS. CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN, AND STOP USING IT.

I took minastrin 24 fe for only 3 days because I was having heavy periods and my doctor told me these pills will help to stop the heavy bleeding. I took the pills on 8/5/16 but only then it completely stopped. Now this month September I'm one week late on my period. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm not sure if I could be pregnant. ## Sorry I was taking* the minastrin 24 fe for only 3 days 2 tablets twice a day. ## Hello, Fatima! How are you? Have you had your period, yet? Taking hormonal medications, even if for a short period of time, can throw your normal cycle off and cause you to be late, as reported by NIH. As reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, headache, irritability, spotting and PMS like symptoms. If your period doesn't occur within 7 to 10 da...

Just started minastrin ... Just took the second brown pill last night and my period is here... Do I continue taking the brown pills or do I now start the white ones again???? ## Finish taking the pills in the pack daily, you don't start a new pack, until you start a new cycle, so finish the brown ones. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS like symptoms. I have been on loestrin 24fe for about 8 years now. I loved it. No period and no problems with weight gain. Now that I have had to switch I am moody and gaining weight. This is problem because I am in fitness. All the exercise is not helping the moodiness or weight. I don't like this pill at all!! ## Hi Ale, Sorry to hear about your problems with minastrin. Both medications are said to contain the same active ingredients (norethindrone acetate + ethinyl estradiol + ferrous fumarate), so I'm thinking any noticeable differences (that may be having a negative effect) could probably be found in the list of "inactive ingredients" - otherwise known as binders/fillers. However, in cases like this it may be a good idea to speak with your doctor or gynecologist about having your ...

Hi, This is my first time taking birth control period. I started the pack on the 21st of last month. I finished the brown pills & started the new pack a few days ago. Was I supposed to wait for my period to come before starting the new pack? Or am I ok? ## Hello, Whit! How are you? No, you are fine, you are supposed to continue to the new pack, regardless of whether or not you have a period. Some women don't have them, while taking oral contraceptives. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

My daughter is 15 and has Down Syndrome. She has been on Minastrin 24 FE for a year to control her heavy bleeding. The doctor started her on these and told us to only give her the white pills everyday skipping the brown pills. That this would stop her cycles. She has not had any monthly cycle nor breakthrough bleeding. She developed signs of a UTI and yeast infection 12 days ago and was put on an antibiotic and a single dose yeast pill. She started spotting two days later today is da ten of that spotting. I plan to call the dr Monday if it hasn't stopped. Has this happened before to anyone? ## Hello, Debbie! How is your daughter doing? Has there been any change? Many antibiotics can lower the efficacy of oral contraceptives, which may result in spotting, or a full on period, accordi...

Hello, I have taken Minastrin 24 Fe for at least 3 years now. I have not had any trouble with it but November of 2015 I missed a period. My periods resumed again in December 2015 and have been normal and on time since then. It is now February 2017 and I am waiting for my period to start. I took my last brown sugar pill today. I should have started two days ago. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? I take my pill the same time each day and have never missed a day. ## If you haven't missed any pills, there really shouldn't be any reason to worry, though there is never any harm in checking for pregnancy, if you're concerned. The FDA does list missed periods, or irregular ones as being possible side effects of oral contraceptives. Has there been any change?

Hi, I have been on minastrin fe for about 8 months. My period has always been normal. However, this time for the last 3 days of when I was supposed to be on my period I've just had brown discharge very very light. Several days (starting with the time change) I took my period at varying times between 10am and 11am. Should I be concerned? Is an hour time difference a big enough one to make the pill not effective? Is brown discharge normal? I took a pregnancy test on the second day of the brown discharge and it was negative. What do you think? ## Hello, Emily! How are you? Has there been any change? According to the AMA, brown discharge is usually just old blood, sometimes not all of it is expelled during your period, so it comes out later, before, during, or after your next period. If...
