My age is 66. I was suffering from IBS and my doctor initially suggested Prividac and then Colspa Retard for a couple of months, but thereafter advised Meva-Sr tablets (2 tabs daily before major meals) along with Serlift 25mg. Since then, I have been using the Meva-Sr along with Serlift 25mg for the last 5 years and feel comfortable. If I use such medicine continuously, will this have any adverse side effect on my health in the long run? ## Hi Swapan, I would suggest getting checked for any Vitamin-D deficiency you may have.

Advicor Lovastatin + Niacin

Niacin/lovastatin (trade names Advicor) was a drug combination used for the treatment of dyslipidemia. It was a combination of the vitamin niacin in extended release form and the statin drug lovastatin (trade name Mevacor). The combination preparation was developed by Kos Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which was acquired by Abbott Laboratories in 2006, subsequently transferred to AbbVie Inc. when that company was spun off from Abbott in January 2013. Advicor was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Adm...

## please send info on lavocor asap--side effects--mood swings--negativity ## I'm curious as to whether or not this person was actually meaning to ask about Lipitor, which contains the active ingredient Atorvastatin? Or possibly Mevacor, which contains Lovastatin? The name clearly leads me to believe they meant some type of statin medication, these are usually the first choice for lowering cholesterol. Thus, I'm going to include the link to Statin details , so if they'd return, or if someone else is unsure of the name, they can learn more and possibly see which is the correct one. ## My daughter has been taking this drug for 10 days. I would liketo know if lovastatin is the generic brand for zetia ## i would like to know if this is a gereric brand for zetia . i find that the zetia is too expensive for me i do not have adequate coverage. and how would i go about ordering this druf=g for myself?? i do have a prescription at this time and am paying $28.00 for a 30 day supply. ## No. Lovastatin is the generic name for the statin Mevacor, not Zetia (which is not a statin at all). Which you'd have found out if you typed "lovastatin" into Google or Yahoo search. Der. ## And while I'm here, Zetia is too new to have a generic version, and stop complaining that it costs $28 a month. It costs me over $125 a month, and even under my prescription plan it would be at least $35 a month. You're very lucky. ## I&...

dosage ## I only found some limited details about this medication. It appears to be available in India and contain Lactobacillus (a type of bacteria) for restoring healthy bacteria in the intestines. Also, finding details about dosages is vague because the information is presented in a way which i do not understand. For example I have read "1-1-1 for two weeks" or "1-0-1", but I am not sure what that refers to. For specific dosage I would recommend double checking with the doctor who prescribed this medication. Is it okay to have grapefruit while taking Lipitor? ## It's true. You should not ingest grapefruit while taking Liptor, as it could increase the active ingredient's concentration in your bloodstream to unsafe levels. This applies to multiple statins including Lipitor (atorvastatin), Mevacor (lovastatin), and Zocor (simvastatin). ## I was told by a friend that you should not ingest grapefruit or grapefruit juice while on Lipitor. Any word on this? ## FYI any medication that reacts with grapefruit will also react with CBD oil. The CBD oil does the same thing as grapefruit.

i found a blue round pill with E 72 on one side and nothing on the other. Can anyone help identify this pill? ## Based on the description provided, I believe the blue pill you have is called Lovastatin (20 mg); manufactured by Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Inc. Lovastatin is an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase), an enzyme which catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate. Mevalonate is a required building block for cholesterol biosynthesis and lovastatin interferes with its production by acting as a reversible competitive inhibitor for HMG-CoA which binds to the HMG-CoA reductase. In other words, Lovastatin is used to reduce LDL cholesterol in patients (noted to be as much as 40% reduction with the max dosage of 80 mg). To view more informati...
